Altered Carbon - Netflix (Feb 2)

Based on the classic cyberpunk noir novel by Richard K. Morgan, 'Altered Carbon' is an intriguing story of murder, love, sex, and betrayal, set more than 300 years in the future. Society has been transformed by new technology: consciousness can be digitized; human bodies are interchangeable; death is no longer permanent. Takeshi Kovacs is the lone surviving soldier in a group of elite interstellar warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order. His mind was imprisoned, "on ice", for centuries until Laurens Bancroft, an impossibly wealthy, long-lived man, offers Kovacs the chance to live again. In exchange, Kovacs has to solve a murder ... that of Bancroft himself.

2 Dope Queens - HBO (Feb 2)

The hit comedy podcast '2 Dope Queens', featuring Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, comes to HBO in the form of four themed hour-long specials. Directed by Tig Notaro ('One Mississippi'), guests include Uzo Aduba ('Orange Is the New Black'), Tituss Burgess ('Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'), Sarah Jessica Parker ('Sex and the City') and Jon Stewart ('The Daily Show').

Launched in 2016, '2 Dope Queens' is a weekly standup and storytelling podcast that features Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, along with their friends and favorite comedians, talking about sex, romance, race, hair journeys, living in New York and Billy Joel.

The Simone Biles Story - Lifetime (Feb 3)

Grand Prix Driver - Amazon (Feb 9)

Very, Very, Valentine - Hallmark (Feb 10)

Helen works in a flower shop, and her best friend Henry works at the botanical gardens. When they both go to a masquerade gala, she mistakes a masked man for Henry but he's nowhere to be found, and the same masked man ends up enchanting Helen all evening. But in true Cinderella-like fashion, he rushes off after the clock chimes, dropping his boutonniere. Love-struck, Helen recognizes the rose he was wearing as one she crossbred and the next day she learns that Charles Bradfield got it at her shop. To Henry's dismay, Helen and Charles begin dating until she finds out he plans to turn the botanical gardens into condos. With his job in jeopardy, and heartbroken as well, Henry decides to leave. He's always been in love with Helen and when she finally admits she feels the same, he's already taken a job in Arizona. Finding solace in her work, Helen is asked to deliver flowers to a man at the botanical gardens and is met with the most romantic surprise of her life.

Behind the Movement - TV One (Feb 11)

Our Cartoon President - Showtime (Feb 11)

Executive produced by Stephen Colbert and his 'Late Show' executive producer, Chris Licht, this new 10-episode parody will follow the tru-ish misadventures of the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and his merry band of advisors and family members.

In this parallel cartoon universe, the Commander-in-Chief opens the White House doors for an "all access" look at a typical day in the life of the President of the United States. 'Our Cartoon President' examines the quintessentially Trumpian details of the presidency and his most important relationships, and no one is safe - from his close family and confidants to key political figures from both parties and members of the media.

Here and Now - HBO (Feb 11)

From Alan Ball ('Six Feet Under'), the show is a provocative and darkly comic meditation on the disparate forces polarizing present-day American culture, as experienced by the members of a progressive multi-ethnic family - a philosophy professor and his wife, their adopted children from Vietnam, Liberia and Colombia, and their sole biological child - and a contemporary Muslim family, headed by a psychiatrist who is treating one of their children.

Wedding March 3: Here Comes the Bride - Hallmark (Feb 17)

Former college sweethearts Olivia and Mick's plans for a relaxing Valentine's Day together change when they learn that Mick's sister Bonnie, Mick's daughter Julie, Julie's boyfriend Wyatt, Olivia's mother Nora and Nora's boyfriend Johnny are all coming for a weekend at the Inn.

Their visitors bring surprises as well: Bonnie reveals she is engaged and after just eight months with Sean, and Julie announces she's decided to drop out of college to pursue her passion for cooking. While Olivia plans a last-minute wedding for Bonnie and Sean, Mick expresses his concerns to both Bonnie about her distant fiancé, and to Julie about dropping out of college. Wyatt, too, is troubled by Julie's decision to leave college and the two have a fight that may end their relationship.

As the wedding approaches, Sean reveals a secret that may explain his behavior all weekend, Julie and Wyatt must decide if their relationship can work and Johnny has a surprise of his own in store. With all of the excitement surrounding Mick and Olivia, they always have each other for comfort and support.

Ugly Delicious - Netflix (Feb 23)

Over eight episodes, David travels the world with writers and chefs, activists and artists, who use food as a vehicle to break down cultural barriers, tackle misconceptions and uncover shared experiences. 'Ugly Delicious' ventures out of polished kitchens into the wider world to explore Viet-Cajun cuisine in Houston, Neapolitan Pizza in Tokyo, home cooking in Copenhagen, and much more.

Royal Hearts - Hallmark (Feb 24)

Since the passing his wife, Hank Pavlik has made the ranch his only life. But when his daughter, Kelly Pavlik is met by a lawyer retained to locate her father, life is about to get interesting. Being that he is the last living relative, Hank has inherited the late King of Merania's throne - a responsibility that doesn't interest him. Reminding Hank that you don't turn your back on family, Kelly encourages him to stay because without a king Merania's independence is threatened by King Nikolas, the ruler of the neighboring country.

Meanwhile, Kelly has taken an interest in Alex, the adorable stable hand for the estate. When King Nikolas of Ambrosia comes to visit Kelly gets swept off her feet and while at the Royal Ball, King Nikolas surprises Kelly with a marriage proposal. After some investigating Alex discovers Ambrosia is broke. King Nikolas' proposal is simply a business transaction to acquire Merania's natural resources. Realizing an opportunity with King Nikolas' predicament, Hank devises a diplomatic solution that could both secure Merania's independence and the future of Ambrosia.

Liberty - DR1 (Feb 25)

Set in the 1980s in Tanzania, the character-driven drama focuses on two expat families, the Larssons from Sweden and Knudsens from Denmark. Parallel to the adult storyline, we follow the friendship between Christian, the rebellious teenage son in the Knudsen family and his friendship with Marcus, a local Tanzanian working as a helper at the Larssons. Cultural and social clashes, betrayal of principals, infidelity, greed and murder are some of the main themes in the first literary adaption of the last book in the 'Africa Trilogy' written by Danish author/journalist Jakob Ejersbo.

Riot - ABC Australia (Feb 25)

In 1978, when the push to decriminalize homosexuality has stalled, a group of activists decide they must make one final attempt to celebrate who they are. Led by former union boss, Lance Gowland, they get a police permit and spread the word. On a freezing winter's night, they cloak themselves in fancy dress, join hands and parade down Oxford Street. Ackley Bridge - Acorn TV (Feb 26)

When three suburban moms get tired of trying to make ends meet, they decide it's time to stick up for themselves by robbing the local supermarket at (toy) gunpoint. But when the manager catches a glimpse of one of them and the loot is far more than they expected, it doesn't take long for the three best friends to realize the perfect getaway will be harder than they think.

McMafia - AMC (Feb 26

Alex Godman is the English-raised son of Russian exiles with a mafia history, who has spent his life trying to escape the shadow of that criminal past, building his own legitimate business and forging a life with his girlfriend Rebecca. But when his family's past murderously returns to threaten them, Alex is drawn into the criminal world and forced to confront his values to protect those he loves.

Shoot the Messenger - WGN America (Feb 26)

Centering on the complex relationships between crime reporters and the police, 'Shoot the Messenger' follows Daisy Channing, a young reporter trying to balance a messy personal life with a burgeoning career. Things begin to go sideways for Daisy when she witnesses a murder she thinks is gang related, only to find herself slowly drawn into an interconnected web of criminal and illicit sexual activity that reaches into the corridors of corporate and political power. It's the kind of news story that will destroy lives, including those of her own family.

Final Space - TBS (Feb 26)

'Final Space' is an epic animated sci-fi comedy about a spaceman named Gary who is working off a prison sentence and makes a mysterious new alien friend Mooncake who he immediately bonds with. But what Gary doesn't know is that his adorable new sidekick is actually wanted by the sinister Lord Commander who will stop at nothing to use Mooncake's untapped powers for evil.

Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. - USA (Feb 27)

A true crime anthology series that chronicles the dual police investigations of Detective Greg Kading and Detective Russell Poole into the controversial murders of two of the rap industry's most legendary players, Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.

The Looming Tower - Hulu (Feb 28)

Based on the Pulitzer-Prize winning book, 'The Looming Tower' traces the rising threat of Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda in the late 1990s and how the rivalry between the FBI and CIA during that time may have inadvertently set the path for the tragedy of 9/11. The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C., the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively, as they travel the world fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward the same goal - trying to prevent an imminent attack on U.S. soil.

Frontiersmen - History (Feb 28)

The eight-hour documentary series will follow the stories of iconic pioneers such as Daniel Boone, Lewis & Clark, Tecumseh, Davy Crocket and Andrew Jackson as they set forth across untamed land. 'Frontiersmen' will span a formative period of American history - the first 75 years from the post-revolutionary war colonies through the California Gold Rush. The series will show how the frontier helped shape us from colonists into today's Americans.

Bite Club - Nine Network (TBD)

Dominic Monaghan plays a troubled police officer and dog handler in this unconventional police procedural, in which ex-lovers who survive a terrifying shark attack are thrown together by fate to hunt down murderers. Monaghan's character, Stephen Lamb, grew up in an abusive family, was chained to a dog and bitten as a child, and as a result has developed a serious psychosexual perversion that will play out across the series.

Collateral - BBC Two (TBD)

In South London a young man, Abdullah Asif, is shot dead delivering a pizza.

The detective in charge, DI Kip Glaspie, quickly discovers that the pizza manager Laurie Stone, inexplicably sent Syrian refugee Abdullah instead of regular driver Mikey Gowans.

The killing seems professional, but the only witness - a young woman strung out on drugs on the street corner - gives the police a false name and address.

Kip and her partner Nathan track down Abdullah's home, a set of garages, to find his sisters, Fatima and Mona. The sisters are scared and Kip's convinced they're hiding something.

Meanwhile Mikey takes a beating from two men he tries to warn about the police investigation. And manageress Laurie returns home to care for her ageing mum... unaware that two shady figures are watching her every move.

A tense, edge-of-your-seat thriller from Mike Bartlett, creator of smash hit 'Doctor Foster', 'Trauma' centres on two fathers, Dan and Jon, whose very different lives collide when Dan's teenage son tragically dies under the care of trauma consultant Jon in a Central London hospital

Excellent thread work!

It's a fairly light month for me until the back half is just an onslaught.

I thought I'd missed a season on UnREAL, passed me by that it went on hiatus for nearly two years. Last season didn't end particularly strong, but I'm curious to see what's next.

For new shows, Altered Carbon, Here and Now, and The Looming Tower have me the most interested! Everything Sucks! hopefully has potential.

I am 100% on board for Altered Carbon, just about finished the first book and will probably binge the series then read books 2 & 3. Really enjoying book 1 so far, its a lot more violent and "sex filled" than I thought it would be, gonna be interesting to see how that translates to the screen. Its supposed to be Netflix's most expensive TV show to date, I think?

Other than that nothing really pops out that much, Stargate Origins looks like it'll be a massive dumpster fire as a huge Stargate fan :(

Will watch:
Here and Now - I wasn't sure, but the trailers enticed me. I'll give it a go.
Liberty - Mikael Marcimain can do no wrong, so even if I have to put up with the Danish language it will (hopefully) be worth the effort.
Riot - I don't know much about Australian LGBTQ history, so learning about what seems to be their counterpart to Stonewall is an intriguing prospect.
McMafia - Whenever Amazon releases it from its clutches, it reviewed very well in the UK.
Collateral David Hare did some astounding work with the Worricker Trilogy, so he has my attention for the forseeable future. That he managed to assemble an (almost) equally bonkers cast for this is just a bonus. Carey Mulligan is a delight in everything she is in.

Might watch:
Altered Carbon - I'm not convinced by the trailers, and the lead writer has done some astonishing stinkers. But I do like me some cyberpunk.
Crawford - If it reviews well.
Seven Seconds - If it reviews well.
The Looming Tower - I'm just not sure just how much I actually want to watch a prestige drama about 9/11.

Jesus Christ How Could I Not Watch This:
Bite Club - pls, just be as weird, bonkers, and terrible as the synopsis hints at it possibly being.

Already watching McMafia on iPlayer- it's good but am a couple of eps behind and not sure when will pick it back up.

Mrs Miso is the Homeland fan. Might just not tell her it's back. Last season wasn't terrible but that's the nicest thing I can say about it. Still mad after the S1 cop out. But have come this far. When will it get put out of it's (and my) misery.

Yeah. Plus Glenn Howerton and Patton Oswalt are pretty well known, combine that with the really strong marketing push NBC is putting behind it, they are really banking on this to be a hit.

So what's the deal with the returning Strike Back? Is any of the behind the scenes team the same? The action and stunts on the last series were amazing, I would be in for more if they were at all related.

Edit:slightly answering my own question, it appears at least some of the crew is the same... I can't quite tell to what extent. Any further info/articles would be appreciated.

I don't know the extent of it, just that some of the same writers are working on it.

Another series I've spotted that I didn't see above is called Requiem, BBC One starting this Friday and it's supposed to go up on netflix at some point as well.
