June is a pretty packed month, so let's dive right in! But first, recent highlights! Thanks to Natiko for suggesting I add some brief details for each one so people have a better idea of what they are.

~ Recent Highlights ~

Barry - HBO

Barry is a depressed, low-rent hitman from the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he reluctantly travels to Los Angeles to execute a hit on an aspiring actor.

Brockmire - IFC

The series centers on the fall and rise of Jim Brockmire, a once-famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing on-air meltdown caused by his wife's serial infidelity, leading to a decade away from the booth. Older and presumably wiser, Brockmire attempts to reclaim his career, reputation and love life by returning behind the mic.

Doom Patrol - DC Universe

Doom Patrol is a team of traumatized and downtrodden superheroes, each of whom has suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities but also left them scarred and disfigured. Part support group, part superhero team, this band of superpowered freaks are fighting for a world that wants nothing to do with them.

Fleabag - Amazon

A dry-witted woman, known only as Fleabag, has no filter as she navigates life and love in London while trying to cope with tragedy. The angry, grief-riddled woman tries to heal while rejecting anyone who tries to help her, but Fleabag continues to keep up her bravado through it all.

Fosse/Verdon - FX

Spanning five decades, "Fosse/Verdon" explores the singular romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. Bob is a visionary filmmaker and one of the theater's most influential choreographers and directors, and Gwen is the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Only Bob can create the groundbreaking musicals that allow Gwen to showcase her greatness. Only Gwen can realize the unique vision in Bob's head. Together, they will change the face of American entertainment -- at a perilous cost.

Happy! - Syfy

Nick Sax is a corrupt, intoxicated, ex-cop turned hit man who is adrift in a twilight world of casual murder, soulless sex, and betrayal. After a hit goes wrong, Nick finds a bullet in his side, the cops and the mob on his tail, and a monstrous killer on the loose. But his world is about to be changed forever by a tiny, imaginary, blue-winged horse with a relentlessly positive attitude named Happy. On their journey, they must contend with a laundry list of enemies including angry mobsters, ex-mistresses, ex-wives, and one very bad Santa.

What We Do in the Shadows - FX

A documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who've "lived" together for hundreds of years in Staten Island. After an unexpected visit from their dark lord and leader, the vampires are reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in New York City over a century ago -- total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination? A vérité camera crew follows along as the vampires set out to answer this query.

Big Little Lies
Pose
Legion

A bunch of the rest intrigue me(what even is Arthdal Chronicles or The Chosen One?) but I'm not sure I'll get to them.

And Jamestown is still going, did that ever get interesting? I watched the first season and felt "Well, this a waste of a perfectly good cast."

Everything was Netflix.

Good reminder that I still need to watch S2 of Fleabag. Guess Happy! S2 will get a look in, should drop on non-NA Netflix this month (checked, June 5th for AU).

Handmaids Tale will get a watch.

WTF is Luther doing there? Yanks not getting latest season till now?

Definitely checking out NOS4A2, love me some Joe Hill. Euphoria seems like it could be interesting as well.

Please, please, please let Big Little Lies keep up the quality from season 1. Hopefully Pose can keep it up as well, really looking forward to it.

Been waiting for more Aggretsuko since the Christmas special!

Arthdal Chronicles is on Netflix? I was wondering where that was going to show up. Been curious about this one, though it sounds a bit weird.

Also watching Aggretsuko.

I'm really looking forward to Pose/Baskets/Big Little Lies and will also check out City on a Hill, The Loudest Voice and Jessica Jones . I'll probably hate-watch Legion since it's the final season.

I was going to watch NOS4A2, since I thought the book was decent, but after the reviews it's getting I've changed my mind.

Definitely checking out NOS4A2, love me some Joe Hill.

The reviews unfortunately aren't too hot (2 positive, 1 mixed, 4 negative on Metacritic), but I'll probably still check it out as well. It could be the next 'The Strain'! (in that it's awful, but generally entertainingly so)

Just pointing out an error. The Rook isn't based on a book by Meyer. The author of the book is Daniel O'Malley.

I'm watching Deadwood for the first time. I'm only four episodes in, but it hasn't won me over yet.

So far it's just a bunch of dirty men with facial hair saying "cocksucker" a dozen times an episode.

That's disappointing, still hoping it'll somehow be good though. Guess I'll continue waiting on Locke & key... To be fair to The Strain they used up all the good source material (Book 1) by the end of the first season.

Dark - I can finally tell what's going on!
Tales of the City - I haven't seen Murray Bartlett in anything since Looking.
Years and Years - Eager to see another Russell Davies project.
Big Little Lies
Fear TWD - Not sure about this show anymore after that last season.

Maybe: Jett - I'd like to see Carla Gugino kick some butt. The plot sounds a bit tired though.

Quite a few shows I at least have a mild interest in this month, but many of them are iffy enough that I'm likely to wait for impressions. Great thread as always!

Handmaid, Big Little Lies, Ink Master, Younger.

I was surprised to find that Tales of the City is an actual continuation of the '90s miniseries with the same leads returning.

Never heard of it, but Savage was so, so, so good in Netflix's Friends from College.
I'd never heard of it until this thread myself but an aftershow for a TV show that doesn't actually exist is something I'll definitely watch at least once. I haven't seen Friends From College yet but I thought Savage was really good in The Grinder too.

I can't wait for Nicolas Refn's 'Too Old To Die Young.' I'm definitely there day one.
Will also check out Euphoria, been waiting quite a while for that one.

And will probably do Jessica Jones S3 as well, even though I'm behind on The Punisher S2, Cloak and Dagger S2 and Runaways S2.

I'll be skipping Dark, The Handmaid's Tale, Legion and Black Mirror since I'm not caught up on any of them.

Currently binging Doom Patrol, and it's insanely good and surprising in all the good ways.
I am also watching Swamp Thing weekly.

Big Little Lies is the only new one for me this month. Technically Legion too but I might wait til later in the summer to watch.

I still have a lot from this year to catch up on: Doom Patrol, The Bundy Tapes, Arrested Development, Fosse/Verdon, Chernobyl, Ava DuVernay's Central Park 5 miniseries, and maybe pick up the Umbrella Academy again.

I just skimmed the list so far. Baptiste on Netflix, nice I'm looking forward to that. The Missing has been one of the best shows almost nobody talks about and he was a central character there. Particularly Season 1 was incredible, easily up there with the likes of Broadchurch.

A Touch of Cloth is a brilliant dark comedy/spoof. Completely different to Black Mirror but better in quality, in my opinion.

Will Watch:
Big Little Lies
Pose
Years and Years - More like currently watching since we got it earlier for some reason. I only mention it to make sure y'all don't sleep on it.Russell T Davies is a damn fine writer.
The Loudest Voice
Perpetual Grace, LTD - I had this under might watch until I saw the reviews. I'm actually quite hyped for it now.

Might Watch:
Too Old to Die Young - Winding Refn is extremely hit or miss for me. So I'm cautious about it.
The Handmaid's Tale - season 2 wore me down. If it reviews well, then who knows. Maybe I'll get into it again.
The Rook - I'm intrigued, but the promos so far have been a bit generic.
Los Espookys - I like a lot of the people involved with this. But the trailer did nothing for me.
City on a Hill - Looks generic, so I'll wait for reviews.

Thanks as always for your hard work RatskyWatsky !(I promise I'll watch Claws... eventually)

It's so damn good. For a US comparison, you know Angie Tribeca? Now imagine that show but actually good. That's A Touch of Cloth.

Definitely watching these as far as returning shows go:

The Handmaid's Tale
Big Little Lies
Claws

I hope to start watching Dark soon, so maybe that too this month.

Had no idea The Missing was getting a spin-off in Baptiste. I loved The Missing, so I'll check this out whenever I am able to in the US.

Otherwise, will keep an eye on what reviews well and what people recommend in here. I used to try a lot more stuff, but I really don't have the time anymore D:

Finished up the last season of Better Things.

Direction is still great, I still find Sam's mom amusing, and some of the slice of life moments are still well executed, but I think I'm done with the show. A lot of Sam cooking and being frustrated with her daughters (justifiably so). I think I've seen enough for my interests.

Finished I Think You Leave with Tim Robinson on Netflix, thought it was really funny. Hadn't heard of him before, some of the sketches were really great. Hopefully it comes back for another season.

I thought the pilot was fine. The lead actress was well cast and the family drama was decently executed. I liked that lead's home situation was a little more nuanced than is typical of the genre, even if it seems to be playing out in a predictable fashion. And I appreciate that they're diving right in to the supernatural side of the show rather than teasing it out over the course of the season.

I'm not sure how to feel about Charlie Manx yet though. Some of his scenes worked and some didn't - none were scary, but I don't necessarily know if they were supposed to be.
