There are rules at Abby's: no cell phones (not even to "look something up"), earning a seat at the bar takes time and losing a challenge means drinking a limey, sugary "not-beer" drink. But is there a price to pay when letting an algorithm decide who you will love, forever and ever? When in exchange for this undying, ageless love, technology can access the innermost recesses of your mind -- and the best kept secrets of your heart...

Traitors - Netflix (Mar 29)

"Traitors" is a compulsive spy thriller that takes us behind the scenes of a seismic moment in global history, through the eyes of one young woman caught in the middle of it. An intimate epic set in 1945 London, Traitors is the dangerous, enthralling story of Feef, who is seduced by a rogue American spy into spying on her own country. Her task? To uncover a Russian agent in the heart of the British Government.

Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series - Netflix (Mar 31)

atgv570.jpg

The trailer park just got a lot weirder. Picking up where Season 12 left off — and higher than ever — the entire gang has turned into cartoons.

Mrs. Wilson - PBS (Mar 31)

Starring Ruth Wilson, "Mrs. Wilson" is a powerful three-part drama inspired by the memoir of Ms. Wilson's grandmother and family history.

Set in 1940s and 1960s London and 1930s India, the series follows Alison Wilson, who thinks she is happily married until her husband, Alec, dies and a woman turns up on the doorstep claiming that she is the real Mrs. Wilson. Cannon Busters - Netflix (TBD)

Thanks Ratsky!

Reposting since I managed to post this right before we switched threads....

I'm catching up on some Netflix recently. Really enjoyed Russian Doll and now I'm tearing through Sex Education.
I can never for the life of me understand what critics see in Better Things. Like, it's a decent-yet-wholly-unremarkable show about bratty rich people doing things you've already seen a million times before. There is the occasional astute observation on the human condition, but it's mostly just basic fluff propped up by Pamela Adlon's charisma.
I'll cop to only having watched the first 3-4 episodes of the first season before losing interest. I wonder to what extent the critical response to the show is based on a proximity to where many of them are in life. Seems like many of the prominent critics are in their 40's with kids in the middle/high school age?
Oh, yes. Really looking forward to be one of the seven people who will watch this. But it looks great!.
I imagine it'll be quite good, but I agree that it's not going to put up much of anything in terms of numbers. Seems like one of those shows with <100 posts in the Era thread for the entire season. Probably will do well critically and garner some awards buzz, though.

Will check out:

Love, Death & Robots
What We Do In the Shadows
Hanna

But I honestly need to get around the movies first.

And a monthly thanks to you Ratsky for doing these amazing threads, without you, it would be much harder keeping up with TV.

Great job on the thread as always rats!

Will watch:
Fleabag - Phoebe Waller-Bridge can do no wrong.
American Gods - I really want this show to hit its full potential. Season 1 came close in parts of it.
Now Apocalypse - Sex, queerness, lizardpeople. What more can you ask for in a show?
The Good Fight - one of the funniest, smartest shows is back! And so is Queen Baranski!
The bits of 9-1-1 Brian Grubb posts on twitter
The OA - I really liked the first season, and the trailer is kinda neo-noir-ish in a way I did not anticipate
What We Do in the Shadows - pls be as good as the movie, or like half as good since the movie was really, really good
Santa Clarita Diet - This has turned into one of Netflix's best shows
Traitors - I'm a sucker for spy fiction... and Keeley Hawes
Barry - I didn't love the first season as much as everyone else seem to have (I think watching Killing Eve before it made it just seem lesser in comparison which isn't really fair) but I'm good for another go
Veep - Never quite reaching the same highs as The Thick of It. But still a great, and very funny show

Might w-wait a minute. Did everything I am interested in end up on the will watch list? And it's pretty long? Oh god, death by TV it is then.

Probably less that 50... I don't think era is anywhere near the target audience for Fosse/Verdon. 🤐

American Idol - ABC - 8/7c

Good Girls - NBC - 10/9c

Shark Tank - ABC - 10/9c - Time Period Debut
Anyone else watching Good Girls? I saw an ad for it recently, noting that the first season's on Netflix, so I watched Season 1. Thought it would be a 30 minute comedy, but it's an hour long comedy/drama, a kind of Breaking Bad-esque network show with Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Mae Whitman (Arrested Development), and Retta (Parks & Rec). Some hard swings between the comedy and drama, but overall enjoying it. Enough that I'm giving season 2 a shot.

Note episode one might deserve a content warning.

Great work on the thread Ratsky. A lot of shows I like coming back this month:

Fleabag (well I guess I wait for this to come to Amazon, but I'm super excited)
American Gods
The Good Fight (might wait to sub to All Access when the season is finished though)
Catastrophe
Billions
Jane the Virgin
Happy!
Barry
Veep

For new shows, I pretty much keep an eye out for what I hear is good as they release these days. Interested in these at a glance though:

Now, Apocalypse
What We Do in the Shadows
Hanna

Also watching through Buffy/Angel for the first time. Kind of got away from me during the Fall due to football, but I resubbed to Hulu and am back into it now.

Now Apocalypse is the big new one on the horizon for me. Gregg Araki getting his own show is too big a deal to miss.

I'm also going to give Hanna a shot, even though I think it is a terrible idea.

And, of course, The OA's return makes me beyond happy.

American Gods
Into the Badlands
Barry
Veep

A.P. Bio
Superstore

And hopefully Happy! and Billions if I can catch up in time.

Curses to everyone seeing Fleabag early! The wait for May will be impossible.

I hadn't thought of that! I guess the subject content of the series matches up so closely with their own lives that that relatability overrides the banality of it all.

Now Apocalypse - Sex, queerness, lizardpeople. What more can you ask for in a show?

Are you doing the OT?

I watched most of Russian Doll but stopped in the second to last episode. I might finish it sometime. It was okay, but I don't feel it's necessary that I finish it. Same for True Detective, 3 episodes to go, don't really feel like finishing it.
I don't know, I can't deny that today's TV is really well made, but most of the critically acclaimed shows that I tried recently left me pretty unimpressed. It all feels pretty soul-less.
Well except for Atlanta, it was legitimately great.

Canada
Fleabag, Veep, The Good Fight, Superstore and What We Do In Shadows are definite watches. I might check out Hanna, despite the preview episode being the movie pretty much. Street Legal is something I watched with my parents when I was younger so I might watch it purely due to curiosity. Full month.

Looking forward to American Gods, even though the beautiful Gillian Anderson won't be in this season. :(

Watched the fantastic 3 part drama Manhunt last night starring Martin Clunes as Colin Sutton documenting the arrest and conviction of serial killer Levi Bellfield.

Gripping and disturbing but brilliantly done.
