When Daniel surprises her by spontaneously arriving in Nantucket, Paula decides to move forward with their marriage plans. But back in St. Louis, Daniel soon returns to his all-business ways and a fed-up Paula finally realizes they're not compatible. The plot follows a young submarine Crew on a dangerous surveillance mission, as the Résistance begins to gain influence at the French port of La Rochelle.

During the Autumn of 1942, in occupied France, U-612 is now ready for its maiden voyage, preparing to head into the increasingly brutal warfare with its young crewmen, including the new commander, Klaus Hoffmann. As the 40 young men take on their first mission, they struggle with the cramped and claustrophobic conditions of life underwater. Their personalities are pushed to the limit as tensions rise and loyalties begin to shatter. Could all she believed to be true, in fact be a lie?

Manhunt - ITV (TBD Nov)

EtLZ0WO.jpg

"Manhunt" is the real life story of how the murder of French National, Amelie Delagrange, on Twickenham Green in August 2004 was eventually linked to the murders of Marsha McDonnell in 2003 and the abduction and murder of Milly Dowler as she travelled home from school in 2002.

Walking home following a night out with friends, 22 years old Amelie was savagely attacked and struck several times on the back of the head with a hammer.

Although relatively experienced in murder investigation, DCI Sutton was assigned to the case by London's Metropolitan Police. Hard working and instinctive, Sutton dedicated himself to finding Amelie's killer. With very little evidence, his painstaking approach and the diligence of his fellow officers gradually led to breakthroughs in the case.

Not to be underestimated, Sutton never ruled out similarities to the murders of Marsha McDonnell and Milly Dowler in the same southwest corner of London.

Dirty John got a cool cast but based on the trailer it looks pretty mediocre and stupid.

Will watch:
House of Cards

Ep.1 of Sally4Ever has aired in the UK, I almost cringed myself to death though which is totally what I was expecting and I love it. Julia Davis is one of the few that can get away with it.

Has to be said, I'll will now never be able to listen to China In Your Hand without thinking of one specific scene.

Only new ones I want to check out are:

Homecoming - Amazon (Nov 2)
Shut Up and Dribble - Showtime (Nov 3)

This has to be a RatskyWatsky nightmare. lol

It's a Wonderful Lifetime - Lifetime Movie (Nov 17)

What if Lifetime never made Christmas movies? In this special, hosted by Melissa Joan Hart, we will be taken on a journey that explores how terrible life would be without Lifetime Christmas movies to bring us holiday cheer. Melissa will be visited by the "host" of Lifetime Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and along the way, she will preview the 14 exciting movies that are coming to Lifetime this holiday season. Once this special is over, you won't be able to imagine a world without the magic of Lifetime Christmas.

Fantastic thread as always, good work!

This month has Patriot. Everyone watch Patriot. I got to review the second season, and it's just as genius as the first season. It pushes the excellent supporting cast to the side for a lot of it, but it's just as funny, devastating, and smart as last year. It sits at the top of the year for me.

Homecoming is also fantastic, and House of Cards is better with Claire in the lead, but still dampened by some silliness on the edges remaining from previous years. Also saw all of The Little Drummer Girl, and it's wonderful. Beautifully acted, really gorgeously shot, and super compelling.

The rest I'll be watching:

The Cry
Room 104
Origin
Narcos: Mexico
The Kominsky Method
The Bisexual
My Brilliant Friend
Escape at Dannemora
The Bureau
MST3K: The Gauntlet
And hopefully Vikings, if I catch up!

Man in the High Castle S03 was enjoyable (I'm still amazed at the high production values), however I feel like they ended the season on a whimper compared to the events from season 2. I must admit that I wasn't expecting some of the major characters to die this season (well at least one).

Yeah, the end of the season felt like getting ready for something larger than an end to the actual season. But up till then was really surprising and much better than I expected.

Nothing really stands out

Looks like a solid catchup month. Only interested in Patriot, Outlander and The Last Kingdom. Outlander I won't watch til at least January when its run has finished.

We got some heavy hitters this month in Homecoming, The Little Drummer Girl, My Brilliant Friend, and Escape at Dannemora!

Apologies to the OP for breaking up his thread. Completely unintentional.

It's okay! Slayven fixed it right quick :P

The Little Drummer Girl, like every sensible person, and Outlander are the only two that I'll definitely be watching.

Might give 1983 a go. And there will certainly be numerous Hallmark/Lifetime movies peppered in.

These threads deserve more love.

Been continuing watching Babylon Berlin from past month. It's really fun.

Saw all of Patrick Melrose on what was to be a 4 hour flight which was extended to a 5 hour due to delays, so perfect length to finish of the series. Boy where do I even begin? This is very dark and something which will stay with me for a while. It avoids providing any neat explanations or closures to life's dillemas (though I think it falters at places) which I appreciated when dealing with such a subject matter. The most potent quality it possesses however is it's disdain for the British upper class. The rich have never appeared so loathsome and miserable on screen. I loved episode 3, where the general atmosphere of the party could be something out of The Great Gatsby. And yet the story does not contain any character of note from outside this strata of society. The odd waiter and the hippie chartiy healing group are both treated as a joke, not just by the characters but the show itself too. It does however do a good job in demonstrating the change in attitudes and lifestyle between generations as that inherited wealth diminishes over time.

Cumberbatch is absolutely fantastic and is very well supported by the other actors too. Weaving does well as his imposing, charasmatic and monstrous father. Also Nicholas Pratt is a great hilarious and despicable character. Quite memorable.

Are the books worth reading? The extended dialogues would be entertaining I imagine.

Going to jump into Homecoming when I'm done with Sabrina (I have two episodes left). My Brilliant Friend sounds good too. Otherwise, I'd like to get back to a few shows I missed earlier in the year like Patrick Melrose before 2018 comes to a close.

This might be among the best months of the year.

Definite watches:
Homecoming - I mean, I already watched it. I think everyone who can watch it should, not because it's good or has great aesthetics or anything, although it does, but because episodes are 30 minutes long. That should be at the top of all advertising.
Baroness Von Sketch Show - Has been airing here in Canada since the start of October, I think. Strong season so far.
Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle - One of the most fascinating, harrowing, and deeply sad events in American history. I'll watch anything about Jonestown.
My Brilliant Friend - Ferrante is incredible. Read her books.
The Bureau - Quietly among the best series on TV. Had no idea series 4 was this soon, fantastic news.
Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Fewer episodes this year than I'd like, which is a sentence I never thought I'd get to say.
Outlander - My partner and I are a season behind on this so we have some work to do so we can catch up.
The Little Drummer Girl - Lot of pedigree behind this.

Might watch:
Das Boot - Depends on reviews. Hoping for the best.
1983 - Interesting concept, if it reviews well I can see myself putting it on TV on a rainy weekend.

Have you seen The Girlfriend Experience, Vida, or Sweetbitter? They're all (on Starz and) half hour dramas as well! Also, Sorry for Your Loss! Maniac too! This has sort of been the year of the 'half hour drama' and I am here for it.

Thanks for making me check if Facebook Watch is available in Canada yet, I can finally watch Sorry for Your Loss. Guess that's what I'm watching next.

I haven't watched the Starz shows but they were all on my to watch list at some point or other and just got pushed down the priority list.
