Its been some time from the anniversary, the Release dates were:
  • EU: 31 May 1997
  • NA: 14 June 1997
But i only knew about It today, while i was listening to the OST. And i dont remember anywhere talking about It. So to make justice to this amazing game, i'm creating this late anniversary thread.

About LBA2:

"The game is a sequel to Little Big Adventure(also known as Relentless: Twinsen's Adventure). LBA 2 was also the third game created under the label of Adeline Software International. The game features three-dimensional environments and full motion video, and all of its music is in CD-DA quality"

Plot:

" After Twinsen defeated FunFrock at the end of Little Big Adventure, Twinsun was peaceful, until a sudden storm covered Citadel Island. The Dino-Fly, a creature encountered in LBA 1is struck by lightning and crashes in Twinsen and Zoe's garden. "

Source: Wikipedia

The OST is awesome btw:

Man, I was crazy about this game back in the day. I have it installed from Gog on my HDD, but I lack the courage and time to play it. I also have the first one. Is it worth playing?

For a second I thought we got a remastered version. Lovely series. I'd like a new game, and also a new Gobliins game. French development houses ruled in the 90's.

Loved both at the time, don't know if I could go back and play them now, remember the controls weren't great even back then.

I was excited there for a moment thinking there was something special going to happen because it has been 20 years... sadface...

I loved this game as a kid, and I beat it countless times, I pretty much memorized the whole game and the plot.

My man, I love the second one so much. It's practically an open world game.
Once you get used to the controls the world(s) are so much fun to explore. I remember being blown away the moment you leave for Zeelich.
Such a shame we never got a third entry.

Such amazing game. I have so many great memories with this one. Fighting monsters in casino, destroying a tank in the prison, invisible labyrinth, almost impossible kart racing in desert (thanks to tank controls)... Ranyal ceratinly up there with Miyamoto.

Wonder what happened to the planned remake...

While I'm still very fond of the second episode, I consider the first one to be vastly superior except for the controls (and the collision damage thing, ugh). LBA2 is soooo cheesy in its storyline, its dialogues, even music, it kinda ruined my enjoyment of the game back then. It grew on me eventually but did not blow my mind the same way.
I also remember an interview of Raynal on French TV around release where he mentioned they were considering a 3Dfx version, never happened obviously, booo : (

First game truly is a masterpiece.

(Yay, first post ever on Era, and on a LBA thread!)

Played the dickens out of the first one way back in the day on my old 486. That was a tough game - I feel like it could have been better if it had better controls, I don't think I ever got the platforming and aiming down right - though the stealth parts were fun. I remember yelling at the MC to stealth faster haha.

Was it tank controls? I can't remember.

Tank controls for sure! I remember me and some friends from school really struggling with those too.

I loved these games so much as a child, especially the second one. I didn't have a PC but all of my friends did and we would go over to each other's houses and play games and this always stood out to me. Bought it on the last steam sale but haven't booted it up yet.

20 years? Wow...
This was the first game where I felt like I was in the world, the first time for me that gaming reached the level of reading or watching movies

I remember playing the first level alot as a kid, and not getting very far until years later I got almost to the end before I either gave up or got busy. I don't remember which.

I DO remember kicking the kid off of the roof of the preschool, and their old brother coming to beat me up. I remember that, because for some reason I did it alot.

Great OST, and now I'm nostalgic!

There's a Switch game that seems to share the aesthetic with this series, and even the name's similar. Anyone tried that?

I was obsessed with this game as a kid. I still remember my friend and I drawing out a map of the invisible tile bridge room for safe steps.

This is such a fantastic game, with an exquisite soundtrack. I loved exploring the city under the storm in the beginning, it was my first "open world" adventure and it felt huge at the time.

I really should replay this series one of these days.

First game were I encountered a game breaking glitch where I couldn't continue.

I will always remember it for that! HAHAHAHA.
I recall accidentally finding a way to break the game in order to board the ferry and travel to the desert before stopping the storm. It was so cool!

Such a great game, can't believe it's been 20 years time really does move too fast. Memories of defeating the Tralu and travelling to Zeelich. I do think it would be a hard game for people to play nowadays and I've never returned to it from when I originally played it. I'm not sure how the tank controls plus having to switch between different behaviours would feel to someone in the present age as well as aiming to throw that bouncing magic ball (although I think it only bounced in discreet mode).

I think I also came across this glitch in the first game and had to start from the beginning, although it might not be the same one. Can't exactly remember what it was but I think it happened around a library area where I selected the wrong choice for something.

I used the glitch too, you use the ticket where the ferryboat is suposed to be. Then you arrive in desert Island with Sun and rain. But If you dont do the Quest when you return to twinsun, the game crashes.

There's another Cool bug that you can use with this one, you heal the dinofly before doing this First quest, then you do the Quest and when you are together with Zoe in the umbrela you talk with the Dino, you can Go together with Zoe to desert island.

Oh man, Twinsen's Odyssey 1 was one of my childhood favourites. I remember my dad's friend had a CD burner at the time (I mean, in 97's Brazil this was a really HUGE deal) and as he was building a PC for us when we were visiting him, he was also playing this game. I think he must've seen my eyes glee with joy when I saw it, since I had only played one 3d game until then (A super rich neighbor of mine had a launch Nintendo 64 with Mario 64. Oh man, what a revelation that game was.) and all I had access to was a Megadrive. I remember he burned it and Time Commando for me, which went on to become one of my favorite games ever. I had absolutely no idea how to play Twinsen's Odyssey, but oh boy did I try my best to beat it (never did, btw). I must grab a copy to play it now, nostalgia has hit me haaaard.

Haha, I didn't know that second bug. I totally need to try it!
