Nothing, the vast majority of fandoms on things like twitter are fans of characters like Orihime.

I mean Yoko from Gurren Lagann is like 15 or something at the beginning of the series and she looks like this.
Why even bother making her that age? Is making her even as old as 20 considered too old to jack off too?

"Uh oh, this character appears to be of age. Better dial it back a bit..."

Yeah, I dont really have an answer for that. Thats very much a Japan and France thing to do in their comics and cartoons.

If the """15"""" year old looks like the one above. I don't really care. It's weird that you decided she's 15 but whatever. But when you draw a child and say "oh she's 16 or 25 or 9000 or whatever." No. You drew a child in underwear. You = pedo.
This is kinda where I'm at, mostly in regard to trying to pinpoint the exact "age" of a drawn character that's depicted as at least in their late teens and having to sift around the "Is it an existing character and if so what's their canonical age, did the artist age them up, did they not age them up but just slapped a 'They're totally 18+' label on it, does it really matter if they're drawn with adult proportions, etc." 20 questions. But at the same time, the fact that someone went out of their way to attribute the age of 14/15 to a character drawn like that? Big yikes.

The explanation I've come across most often is that the reason that anime/manga so often focuses on ~high school age is because that was a lot of people's best time of their lives there (I have no idea what goes on in college in Japan, I actually feel like I almost never see that setting, but the equivalent would be many people's college years in the USA I guess) and thus since anime/manga can be a form of escapism, people enjoy reading/projecting themselves back to that age.

It's still messed up, but in a different way.

And so the Holy War on anime avatars continued on.
It's just fucking weird.
Like why do grown was dudes have little anime girls as avatars?

Its like in the Persona threads when they all argue who "best girl" is but your arguing over a high school student...

You can like cute things but there's clearly a line.

Surprised that there wasn't already a rule against such content. Should be amusing to see how the enforcement plays out... which reminds me, I'm almost out of popcorn. Gotta add that to my grocery list.

As a grown man with a little anime girl avatar, I can explain. Serial Experiments Lain is one of the best animes of all time.

Dunno about everybody else though.

At this point, I feel like Era's fascination with people's choice of avatars and how it must somehow literally define everything about the person is on the same level as Era's obsession with people's bathroom habits.

Anyway, it still seems like this was in place for months already so anything that should've happened already happened, and if nothing happened, then this policy change hasn't actually changed anything.

I seriously cannot comprehend how people who defend this think it is healthy to be into loli or shota.

Even with the dumb violence double standard argument some people like to bring up, If you are into extreme gore imagery, and especially if you are sexually attracted to it, it's fucked up too.

haha I'm not going to start reviewing all this stuff.

Look, I'm sure there's going to be gray area, but that cherry avatar is clearly messed up and sexual.

What point are you trying to make? That the creator of that pic was just trying to show the weather conditions?
Man you have to be trolling. I am all for banning anime, but that picture is just a cute girl.

Who gives a shit.

My picture is there because i think its cool and it has a anime teenage girl on it.

It's stupid that people get all in tizzy for something so mild.

Theres clearly a line but you cant speak on it with 100% honesty because by your definitions having something like a Mikasa avatar from AoT is the same as having a HDxD avatar because there teenagers which is dumb.

If its a sexualized loli or teenager (and not like the avatar being discussed above lol) go ahead and be rightfully upset, but if its something like dragon maid (i dont actually watch DM, just putting an example) where its just cute and nothing else you need get over yourself.

I dont know about persona since i dont play it but most "best girl" discussions that ive seen here are not sexual in anyway, its just a way to express whos your favorite female mc while playing into the my waifu/husbando meme.

This shit will forever be stupid because "anime avatar" emcompases literally the entire medium both good/bad and it makes no sense to be judged over crap you dont engage with.

It's always funny to see people say it's SJW's fault that things get banned and not like conservative religious people or just the companies that like money and don't want their websites associated with CP in any form since most advertisers and investors don't like that.

Because they are the new Boogeyman. 'Puritans' and Christian moms USED to be the go-to accuser for censorship of sexual conduct (loli or not) but now that video games have 2 pink haired lesbians instead of 0.5 it's clearly outspoken SJW twitter personalities and tumblrites that are causing their shitty loli to get banned from videogames.
These people have no fucking self awareness or hint of social conduct outside of the toxic subreddits and 4chan boards they inhibit.

Yeah it's getting pretty ridiculous here and the ongoing argument about the fucking anime avatar of one user is pretty heavy on semantics. Can we please go on a case-by-case basis here? Especially on ERA? If best waiful/husbando threads are like the ones you see on 4chan where it IS sexual in nature than those users would of long since been banned by now.
Other than that? The devs made those characters to be liked. It doesn't have to be creepy. I don't see people going into shonen anime threads and accusing everyone who likes Deku being a secret teenage diddler.

Use our brains here people.

Or furries who keep posting sexualized animals.
The furry subculture is a tricky one, there's an extremely wide range between "people who look like humans but with animals parts" to "literally a fox".

I can see people drawing the line at 3-5, but how anthro does a character have to be before it's not a sexualized animal?

And it's not like we don't already incorporate animal traits into some fetishes, humans have "sexualized" animals for centuries. Bestiality laws only cover the act of having sex with an animal. You can't be charged with a crime by going into a field and taking a picture of a horse with an erection (although you are going to get a lot of sideways glances for that).

So this seems like a weird tangent to go on.

Big difference, 1-2 are anime girls, they're called kemonomimi, most female and male furries don't like their fursona's drawn that way and are more into 3-4.

[citation needed]

I've hung around enough furries in my life to know the majority of stuff fits in with the 1-3 category, and 3 is pushing it depending on how much they maintain their anthro-ness.

Also the defining characteristic of the furry community is that they are attracted to animal features ON human or anthropomorphized bodies. They are not literally attracted to their dog.

So if you're trying to imply that furries are, on average, animal fuckers, I don't think this thread is the place to debate that, and you're going to have a lot of pushback on that.

Getting rid of loli/shota stuff is a clear cut case. These are people attracted to children, and the idea of having sex with them. Liking furry content doesn't directly imply you like the idea of having sex with an actual animal.

LOL

Twitter is on a roll lately banning this shit along with that piece of shit Jacob Wohl. Or maybe he asked for the ban to protest this considering he looks like the type who masturbates to loli hentai.

To me the purely fictional stuff like loli and shots art falls more into the category of thought crimes. Like Guro or simulated dark fetish porn it can be upsetting but I don't really think it should be outlawed either.

That said, banned from Twitter is not outlawed. Twitter can do what they want

Yeah I thought that was pretty obvious.

Some of y'all go way too far, stop while you're ahead. If people start advocating for loli/shota or other pedo shit then they get banned. Simple enough.

Course that doesn't mean you have to like users with 'cute' anime avatars or whatever. You're free to have that opinion. Just keep it to yourself.

You understand that the term loli is a short hand for "lolita complex", which literally can only be used in a sexual connotation.

Like, you have to be attracted to it and it has a component of sexualization for it to be a loli.

Otherwise it's just a drawing of a kid.

Look at furries' avatars in this very forum, they're all 3-4, and anyone with kemonomimi avatars will be the first to tell you that they aren't furs.
I mean I don't really care about the internal gatekeeping of some parts of the furry community, I'm telling you that if someone draws furries like this:

It doesn't mean this artist wants to literally fuck animals.

Loli/Shota art is a direct implication that you are attracted to children. The primary components of it are literally just "it's a human child, but sexualized".

Furry art implies you are attracted to animal aspects on an anthromorphized frame, but not actually the animal itself.

Depends on if all that pedo shit is actually harmful, as it might influence them to work themselves up to abusing real children. Last time I discussed this on Reddit it wasn't definitive at all. The studies and information I received wasn't really researched that well, either for or against and there was no clear answer. Plus there isn't going to be any research on it anytime soon.

As far as video game violence and 'dark' fantasy pornographic stuff, there has been (apparently) zero connection to users imitating all of it in reality. Course that doesn't mean pornography itself can't have negative effects on society itself, like unhealthy body image, but that's a different subject.

But like you said, Twitter or Reddit banning loli/shota content doesn't have anything to do with thought crimes anyway.

Yeah I know what it is. But a drawing of a kid is not a real kid. I put it in the same category as simulated rape porn, gore porn, etc. This stuff might be sick but it's still in the realm of fiction and I don't think it should be outlawed or treated as equivalent to actual depictions of children or sexual violence.

But like I said I also get why Twitter wants no part of it.

The problem is whether or not the existence of this material leads to an increase or decrease of pedophiles becoming active offenders, with one side arguing "well if they have this fake child porn maybe they won't harm real children", which you will never find an actual study of or research to prove (and trust me I've looked), and the other hand it's "pedophiles use this stuff to condition kids into thinking it's okay", which has been brought up in this thread already.

So if you are going to err on the side of caution (and remember the topic is the possibility of kids being sexually abused due to this stuff's existence), the removal and censorship of this kind of content seems like the only real path forward right now.

If they outlaw this stuff, there's a noticeable increase in acting pedophiles, and somehow you can prove the correlation of the two, then yeah, maybe someone could cape for it's existence.

Loli/Shota art is one step down from child porn in that no actual children were harmed in it's production, but its use in continuing harm to children puts it in a dangerous position.

A defense force for anything. Even here. Didn’t read all 17 pages but there were so lot of good comments and a few that are just mind numbing.

Twitter has slowly been making some good moves recently.
