Maybe this will ultimately lead to hopefully having less of official stuff like this then. Not sure how or why you are defending this.

Oh I'm not. I'm just saying it's interesting because this is a move that does affect quite a bit of existing business. I'll be REALLY interesting to see if there's actual business pushback for this. I'm far less interested in small artists drawing shota or loli porn having to find a new avenue and am dramatically more interested to see what, for example, Namco Bandai or Tecmo or Nintendo do.

So are naked kid drawings still allowed as long as its not porn? I saw a viral clip of Big Mouth that had naked kids in it and while the subject wasnt pornographic I was still suprised I could easily come across something like that on a popular website

How old are most FGO characters? I see artists I follow love drawing them all the time in scantily clad outfits..
To me the issue with "how old are they" in regards to most anime drawings is does it really matter? You can draw something that looks like a 12 year old girl and them claim they're 18, 30, whatever the hell you want. You could also draw what appears to be an adult yet say they're 12. The only thing that matters to me is how they look.

Some people are gonna lose their minds. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone reply to a tweet with a Terrible Opinion, and I've clicked through to their Twitter and it was full of loli crap.

They'll figure something out somehow, they are all global corporate companies.

About time, hope it applies, like, everywhere.

Also, stop sexualizing children ffs, that applies in games too.

I saw that episode. They weren't at all sexualized like the loli image someone above you posted.

It's time to change their art style, then. Have to adapt to the times.

I've never played the game, but the main character in Code of Princess is so embarrassingly ridiculous and over-sexualized I actively avoided the game, even though it was from a genre that I enjoy.

Some of the artwork I see is embarrassing.

I don't see anything wrong with this. As a fan of anime its still plainly obvious that there's definitely a line some artists cross with their depictions of anime-style characters.

It's always been bizarre that they allowed that stuff to fester. Regardless of questions about how heavy-handed they may be about it (although knowing Twitter they'll instead be far too lenient), little of value will be lost in the process. Scurry back to your pixiv holes.

True.

I guess what I'm saying is that I, personally, want to see twitter specifically tell Nintendo when it comes to a character like I posted early a deep and emphatic, "No, this does not belong on our platform".

And until I see that, I really question what Twitter's going to do here considering how lax they are on other social blights.

How the fuck was this not the policy from the jump? These social media companies are really quite morally bankrupt and have done so little to prove themselves capable of operating without regulation and/or oversight.

They want to have it both ways all the time. Growing their userbase but also need to control what is shown. Sometimes they turn a blind eye to controversial or downright illegal stuff unless there's enough of an uproar.

Definitely and it even had body positive messages so its not like I was disgusted or anything, but I just didnt expect to come across stuff like that. It makes me wonder if loli/shota artists will just post "non-sexual" nudity or if stuff like Big Mouth would be brought up in a backlash

Is she not an adult? She certainly looks that way.

But yeah, I hope Japanese devs and artists eventually get a kick in the pants to cut this shit out.

Not Japanese or more knowledgeable about Japan than any average person but I do know that they have an epidemic of young schoolgirls being assaulted and sometimes worse on their public transportation and very little is being done about it. While that continues to go on and Japanese artists are fighting to defend sexualized depictions of kids? It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The thing is that they won't do that though. If they did the vast majority wouldn't be interested in their work.

Maybe? Part of the point against this shit is you can simply make her whatever age you want (hence the 'ancient dragon' jokes). It's long past time to just move past this shit already.

Good.
Can people clarify what loli and shota are? Can't loli just be chibi versions of characters? For example, is this loli or is there a difference between chibi and loli?

I don't care about this stuff, but I could see some segments of the animenet being hurt by this, especially creators.
I doubt they'll go over plain pictures of kids or chibi stuff. Or, at least, it'd be dumb for them to do that.

Loli and chibi are two different things

Loli is children while chibi can be adult characters or any character that is made in a small appearance compared to their original form

Dat edit lol

How is Grimes taking this news?

Reading through the policy it looks like they're trying to cover all the bases.

This part might get interesting with regards to some celebrity scandals:

Engaging a minor in a sexually explicit conversation.

There is a lot of clearly gross content featuring characters that look obviously underage. Good riddance to that.

At the same time, there are other character depictions that are not so obvious and that creates a gray area that Twitter will have to figure out.

Not because of the "this child is actually a 1000 year dragon" fallacy, mind you. Those are obviously worth banning.
