Yeah like...what happens when this:

Is the postergirl for your video game/anime/movie.

What happens when twitter loses ad dollars because of this move?

I'm genuinely curious because there's so much official shit that revels in sexing up clearly underaged kids and masking in some stupid way and less people then there should be call it out.

I'd imagine that this would result in less media whose official at looks like that. The creators of these works have way more to lose from not being allowed on Twitter than Twitter has to lose by not getting ad revenue from niche Japanese video games.

I hope it'll be easy enough to spot the difference, but I'm curious where stuff like this falls...

But yeah, agree with the move in general.

Context? This is very clearly a simple portrait.

Well the example I used was from fire emblem which isn't exactly niche...

But hopefully you'd be right, because I'd like to see that kind of thing gone.

What's the response when they try the "Oh, we designed her to look underage, but she's actually 18 so it's okay" trick?

Like the Dead or Alive franchise does with Marie Rose.
I hate that stupid character.
Common sense hopefully. If you draw a prepubescent kid and tell me she's 18 that's just not going to fly. But we'll see what, if anything, actually happens.

Well, lolis and shotas aren't banned, just the sexual stuff.

Surprised it wasn't banned already.

I'd think this is one of the areas that's really hard to deal with. There are a lot of child/childike character designs that are clearly meant in a sexually pandering way, but they aren't doing anything explicit. But kids also exist regardless of pedophiles; there's nothing wrong with kid characters existing in and of itself.

It also doesn't help when it's not uncommon for the little girls characters meant to appeal to adult men are designed with the same sort of cute features and frilly clothing as characters that were traditionally designed for little girls.

It's why I think this policy will do a whole lot of nothing. Yeah, Twitter can easily go "wtf that little girl is naked and spreading her legs, b&" but a grand majority of this stuff is suggestive. And since Twitter is hilariously inept at this kind of stuff, I can see nothing changing except in extreme cases.

Interesting to see what approach they will take: one by one review by someone or just a mindless bot banning everything.

Her design isn't hyper sexualized and her character is much better for it. Her arc has nothing to do with romance either. Still my favorite FE character.
Fair enough. I just think on the topic of underaged porn, coming in and saying you miss Lyn seems to paint the picture that you don't think Lyn is subject to underaged fetshizing.

Oh lol. I saw someone post Nowi earlier and the comment about the newer FE games selling by far the most made me nostalgic for the old gens

Its very optimistic to expect context and nuance on any of these social media platforms. Probably 14th to mid 20th century portraits like this will get a pass even if the actual artist were known pedophiles. But like someone said early in the thread if a Patreon artist did the same portrait in 2019 it would probably be flagged.

Though TBH I fully expect Twitter to enforce this like they do people being racist on their platform.

I'm kinda shocked that no one in this thread has decided to catch a ban over this (yet)

Its so incredibly fucking stupid that they had to do this. On every level. What is wrong with people?

Is this the first straight up ban on Twitter? THey have been pretty adamant at not banning porn and the like.

Just in case, I am not comparing porn to this stuff. Is just that Twitter has always been "anything goes"

Oh, I figured it might have been something like that. I guess the shoulder strap sorta hints at it.

I'm not so sure if it would be flagged on Patreon though. If the artist was painting all types of models, I don't think people would notice. Now if they were only painting girls, then I think the account would become suspect.

Yeah, and the sad thing is that people who consume that kind of stuff accept it just like that.

"She's fine because the author says her age is over 18."

How foolish can you be?

I've always disliked porn/hentai on Twitter in general so I can't complain. There are a couple people I follow because we're friends or I like the majority of their art but damn if they don't make me regret that decision when I'm out scrolling through Twitter in public and suddenly a pic of an Undertale character sporting a massive dong floods my screen.

Hahahaha, oh gawd, I laughed out loud.
