Ubisoft, continuing their streak of mobile acquisitions, has purchased Montpellier based 1492 Studio.

Their primary product is "Is It Love?", which is part of the quickly growing and very profitable Western Otome game market.

Ubisoft announced today that it has acquired 1492 Studio, which specializes in episodic, interactive romance stories for mobile called Is It Love?.

According to Ubisoft, Is It Love? is one of the top five grossing simulation games for iOS in France. 1492 Studio's headquarters is in Montpellier. Is It Love? is in the top 20 in the U.S. for grossing simulation games on iOS.

They purchased 1492, the studio.
Now they also have 1492 studios total.

Dammit, seven years ago I was telling everyone that this was a massive niche waiting to be filled.

If only I had had any money, tech skills or basic motivation... ah well.

Happy for the devs. Ubisoft is a great publisher.

Yeah. Sprung was really something. The protagonists being named Brett and Becky is something. As is Brett having three love options to Becky's one.

Ubisoft was 14 years too early. Shame this wasn't released on Wii U Virtual Console. Maybe on Switch.
