New Ubisoft Server closures

It seems the list below was updated, and not all entries are actually new closures. Some had been offline for a while and finally been added to the list, other were already on the list. There are some unannounced closures, but I can't verify them myself. So let's keep the thread open (and civil) and reminisce about some of online/extra experiences we will be going to miss or have already lost.

The online multiplayer services for the titles listed below have now been shut down. The offline features for each game remain available.

In-game news and player statistics have also been disabled.

For games that used Ubisoft Connect services, Units and Challenges will be disabled, meaning you will no longer be able to earn Units by completing Challenges for the game.

Rewards can still be unlocked, however you will not be able to receive them in-game.

If your game did not transfer when we moved from Uplay to Ubisoft Connect in 2020, all rewards will be automatically unlocked.

Unlockable content (ULC) such as maps and skins will also be disabled, meaning that you will no longer be able to unlock them.

On PC, ULC will no longer be available even if it has been redeemed previously. On console, the ULC will continue to be available unless you reset your saved game files.

I know some players had spotty servers at least on PS3 for a couple of months, and while these are older titles, I still feel they could at least have given a few weeks of heads-up. To be clear, these aren't all MP servers, some are also tied to the old UPlay services.

what's really weird is they had shut down the the assassin's creed servers, but there was a big outcry and they were like oh sorry sorry we know we said we sunset it but actually it was just maintenance.

Also Call of Juarez, at least Cartel seems to still work on xbox. Probably gonna want to knock out those achievements pretty quick.

This is nothing compared to how things will look in a few years. Most of these games you still can play offline, in a few years you will be able to do jack sh*t with many games.

Some of these defo stopped having online features years ago (Chaos Theory comes to mind) so it'll be interesting to see what the difference is here.

I get where people are coming from about giving a heads up, but I mean... the vast majority of these games likely haven't had any activity in ages. Are people really going to be upset that ESPN Sports Companion on the Wii U has shut down?

Really, the only ones I see on here that could have some negativity are the AC and R6 games.
 
Seems some servers were already closed before, maybe just a resurfaced list.

    that's just the list of already shut down games. It for some reason got bumped as a new announcement, but there were no new games shut down

    Ubisoft has given us a statement after we approached the studio for comment earlier in the week, in which it explains that "services have been restored" for multiple games after what was apparently "short maintenance."

    Last week the multiplayer servers went down for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Revelations, and III on Xbox 360, and Ubisoft updated a page on their site to indicate that these games were sunsetted. Then the servers came back on and Ubisoft claimed it was a mistake. Who knows what's really going on. Maybe they did intend to sunset the servers and then backpedaled when there was a backlash.

    If they were still running servers for Haze and OnLive then I think Rayman Legends on Vita probably has a good few years left yet.

    (Although I guess there's a question about exactly how the fuck they were running OnLive servers when the service literally doesn't exist any more).

    FWIW I didn't notice any ULC content disappearing in AC2 Deluxe after the shutdown. I believe these entitlements are just tied to one of your save files though, maybe best to back that up just in case.

    So the article probably got bumped due to the initial new shutdown of some servers, but those changes were reverted again. I obviously can't verify the current and previous status of all titles, but it seems not as dire as I thought at first.

    What's so strange about this is that as far as I know, PC uses the same like, challenges and everything that ps3 and 360 does, but Vita has its own unique list. Bizarre.

    One of the tougher platinums I have too. You have to get very, VERY lucky as an average player to even have a challenge you've got a shot at diamond cupping.

    Some of these have already been down for a while.
    World in Conflict's master server was taken down in 2015, but fans started to make their own multiplayer service servers and then Ubisoft/Massive released the source code for MassGate, the game's original MP service.

    Article was updated quietly a week or so ago to add about a dozen new things (including the PS360 AC games), some of which were simply missing from the list despite having been down for years already. Bump would likely be them removing some said games from the list late last week when we got that comment from Ubi and the AC games came back on.

    Crazy to think that Onlive had its own set of serves for games. Driver San Francisco only shutting down Onlive servers is kinda weird to read lol.

    Also, I realize that these games are old, but I just watched a "PS3 online in 2022" (linked here on Era) where the Youtuber got into a terrorist hunt co-op match on Vegas 2. The guys he ended up playing with sounded super content playing their favorite game on PS3 still and essentially boycotted the PS4 because they didn't want to pay to play online. Feel bad for them now :(

    I had tons of fun with Call of Juarez Bound in Blood. It way more, Call of Duty-ified compared to the original but it was great.

    Would absolutely love a new one in the series.

    What's really annoying/awful is that some of these games probably didn't have their servers shut down so much as they weren't migrated from Uplay to Ubisoft Connect, which is a self-own. Like Blacklist PC.

    Admittedly I haven't played it in eons, but damn, just the thought of Splinter Cell and Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 losing online multiplayer suucckss.

    Fwiw the Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost Recon servers closed down last year, so at least those are not new.
