I haven't been bitching one bit. My taxes are fine the way they are; I am just not a big fan of Corbyn's plan for reason I have laid out a couple of pages ago. I was simply making the point now that feeling rich is relative to some extent; where I work and live, I certainly don't feel rich whatsoever despite being in the top percentile (e.g., buying a property is prohibitively expensive for instance; no wonder why, where I live, most landlords are foreign millionaires/billionaires).

Ohhhhkay...

Last year alone, I contributed 30 years worth of tax contribution from the average UK tax payer. Not that I am complaining about that, but just wanted to point out that taxation is in fact progressive in case you were wondering.

Based on average income and tax (5k and it's probably closer to 6k so I'm being kind) on that income I calculate you earn around 380k a year and yet you don't consider yourself rich? Get to absolute fuck.

London is a large city, mate. I was referring to Central London. My job requires me to live close to work; I wouldn't make ends meet at £30-40k.

I don't know many doctors, paramedics or firefighters that earn 380k, what field do you work in that requires you to be so close to your workplace?

This looks pretty dodgy:

It all depends on how they would continue carrying this out in practice, but it's been leveraged for some very TERF-y reasons in the past.
Hey, just to let you know that this has been followed up on:

So, on BBC News just now, about 5 minutes talking about how Labour's manifesto would take the country to record high spending levels in peace time. And then just 5 seconds at the end to say.. "but it is the average spending for other European countries and only slightly above Germany"! So not so radical after all then, for any other country.

I would additionally ask the question: How long has Corbyn had that house? Because I'd wager he's had it since such a thing was actually affordable.

Corbyn also lives next to a dodgy AF council estate in Islington.

I believe one of the houses next to his went for 200k in 2002

aka nobody is allowed to criticize capitalism

Shrodingers budget - keep repeating how strong and successful our country is compared to Europe but criticise a spending budget in line with them.

Yeah. One of the things that really pisses me off about the whole 'north London elite' thing is that Islington north and south have a shitload of social housing. But no, people who have second homes or even fucking castles ( hello Dominic Cummings!) chat absolute shit about London elites.

Before moving for uni i used to live in Islington with the fam in social housing. The area has changed drastically in the last 4 years due to gentrification but there's still plenty of social housing everywhere.

Barry Gardiner persevered well just now under somewhat disingenuous questioning on Newsnight - "The manifesto is the clarity."

Seemed ok overall, especially as after it wrapped with the statement that the Tories had no-one available.

Are the Tories again going for as minimal public showings as possible for damage control? It didn't do May much good.

beyond that and the levels of deprivation islington council also bought up a lot of the georgian town houses that are now so prized by ppl like cummings for peanuts when prices were low in islington in the 70s and early 80s and use them for social housing, many of which survived right to buy and are used by those who need it today

but idiot journalists and pundits just assume these houses must be full of the rich

QT off to a wonderful start. Multiple audience members directly blaming Labour for austerity.

Holy shit, there's a guy saying he earns over 80k but isn't in the top 5%. Dude is delusional.

the funding doc just says they will reverse Osborne's IHT tax cut.

The only such cut was the £1m nrb for family homes.

So presumably they are scrapping that.

It was weirdly vague though.

BBCQT is depressing this week. An audience filled with ill informed downtrodden idiots aghast that anyone would want to actually improve their lives.

Also pretty sure some enjoy shouted " go home" at the EU citizen who was making a pro Brexit point, funnily enough. Fuck me.

I don't know why people still watch QT, the audience is filled with Gammons from all over the county and is selected for entertainment purposes rather than debate.

A lot of sole props I dealt with were bad at handling their money.

They would spend it all in the boozer but that also included all the VAT they were supposed to pay us at the end of the quarter.

They got pissed pretty quickly when they had yo also pay a default surcharge of 15% of late VAT because they were late 5 times in a row.

It's BBCQT, you'd be better defrosting gammon from the freezer and rubbing it over your eyes.

Just saw a picture of 80k man on Twitter, could at least afford a razor and some better fitting clothes.

I hope the Tories compensate these people well, because even although much of social media is right-wing, when you get a good gammon on BBCQT, they tend to go viral. For all the wrong reasons.

Enjoy making an arse of yourself on national television.

Then again for me to think about this in my head is just my calculations around empathetic thinking and how I'd never want to be like this. I keep forgetting these people probably don't care. It's a strength to them if they go viral. They took on Corbyn and get to keep that £8 a month!
