His is wife is German and in Germany you can hold duel nationalities. See above your post for the rest.

Unless you're a Turkish German? Don't they have to give it up after a certain age or am I being a silly bugger?

[edit]ah they dropped that racist instrument in 2014. Good stuff. Dual nationals for all.

I want faster rail transport so I don't mind HS2, however all they'll do is continue HS2 connecting the North West and London and cancel HS3 which would have connected the North West and North East together.

Thing is we can already get to London from the North West in like, 2 and a half hours. It's the infrastructure up here and across the Pennines that needs sorting, fuck HS2.

So the rushed front page picture of Johnson with his girlfriend in the countryside all lovey-dovey this weekend has been shown to be a bit of a fraud:

I used to have a friend who'd have to make the choice between electricity/heating and food when sanctioned and had moved his bed into his living room as his flat was so cold. The full dole is naff all as it is and it does appear these people are being scapegoated and blamed for our financial problems.

Capita back in the news again because of yet another failed public sector contract. Having worked on one of these in the past (and having friends who worked on others) there's certainly some satisfaction in seeing their incompetence have a light shone on it.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-48744498

Don't know anyone who worked on this project though. We were working on the replacement army site (which after a series of idiotic choices made from on high was rebooted multiple times both before and after we had it, delayed, launched, failed) and some site for finding Care providers that I have no idea if that ever launched.

At a certain point we need to just stop giving Capita money and start hiring companies that actually deliver products even if they cost more and/or the deadline is further.

Boris backpedaling his taxation policy already has got to be a record, he's wilting and he hasn't faced proper opposition yet.

I have no doubt in my mind that the Boris couple pic is old, just watch his response here to the question of when it was taken.

Boris to make tory haircuts an official secret when he gets into number 10, national interest or whatever tories say when they get in trouble.

"Iain Duncan Smith, the former Conservative leader and arch-Brexiter, has been appointed chair of the Boris Johnson campaign, it has just announced."

I take it he wants the campaign to fail and is sick of the proper job idea already.

Keith Vaz has called for the decision to reinstate Chris Williamson to the Labour party to be reconsidered - despite voting for it himself.

what. He was a 1/3 of the vote.

So the events of the day

Chris Williamson was referred to the NEC
The recommendation was for it to be sent to the NCC for a proper investigation
Claudia Webbe‏ was supposed to be there but was actually on a pre-planned trip to Brussels
Keith Vaz steps in at the last minute, ignores the advice and votes to reinstate Williamson.
Everyone goes mad
Tom Watson now saying Corbyn should intervene even though they've been saying for months that the Leader's office shouldn't intervene in these case
Keith Vaz says it should be looked into despite voting for it

what a shambles.

I didn't realise Boris was also a Marxist socialist with a magic money tree

Don't forget his multi billion island airport and garden bridge for school chums, the guy will happily chuck money at stuff if it suits.

I don't think the long term benefits of anything other than himself come into it though.

Hunt also saying today the government would basically pay for any fishing tariffs if there was a no-deal

like, everyone knows these promises are total bullshit but they keep saying things.

Old Seamus Milne might need to reconsider his brexit stance, or his political plans will face an early end.

Every cloud has a silver lining and getting rid of that berk would be good.

I think his time in the party is coming to an end. He's already lost a lot of power within the party over the brexit stance and gov talks. Labours recent support of a second ref no matter what is decided was definitely taken without him in the loop. The ever increasing likelihood that they will back remain full bore will be a loss for him as well. He is running out of chairs to stand on and everyone else is dead set to override him and his stupid, stupid ideas when it comes to brexit.

Him and corbyns chief of staff also made the mistake of pissing off the shadow cabinet and plp, and have paid the price in the very slow, but positive turn in labours brexit policy.

It's kind of ironic that Corbyn in 2019 seems to have the exact same problem as Theresa May before the 2017 election (remember Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill?): Two confidants who reportedly make all the decisions for him while bypassing the entire rest of the party leadership / shadow cabinet and pissing everyone off in the process.

George Osborne at the IMF is a fucking ridiculous idea, the man is a disaster.

Oh FFS, just when you thought things couldn't get any worse Mr. Austerity himself is applying for the IMF top job...

Should stay at the Evening Standard instead. Him regularly sniping at the May government from the editor's desk is probably the only positive thing he's ever contributed to society.

Obviously I can only mention my area, but that times article about no police is bang on the money, I work in an office where we have direct contact with police, and even we have to tell people to ring 101 because there are no police available. On countless occasions low level crime is effectively ignored completely.

A few months ago a fight broke out in a public park and I was told by that the cops to let them get on with it as cant be arsed with the paperwork..

The irony is shoplifting they have a total hard on for, steal a mars bar and you get the whole lot after you

I've had to deal with the Police a few times in the past couple of years and they're well past breaking point. I assume that the only thing keeping us from widespread petty crime is peoples previous memories of police response

Someone told me recently that a sizable town near me and the surrounding area had two cops and one patrol car assigned to it overnight... If they hadn't been called away elsewhere.

Jaw-dropping stuff.

Downing Street attempted to withhold sensitive intelligence from Boris Johnson when he became foreign secretary, the BBC has learned.

It is understood Theresa May and some in the intelligence community had worries about Mr Johnson's ability to keep information confidential.

you just can't trust Cor... *checks notes* Boris with our national security.

The people picking our next PM:

- 54% want Trump as PM
- 58% want the death penalty.
- 56% believe Islam is a threat to British way of life
- 42% believe having variety of racial backgrounds has damaged UK.

Scum.

Hey, half of Tory party members aren't racists/islamaphobes. That's probably as close to a win as you can find
