For some reason they are posting exact numbers now

'Devil May Cry 5' (20,872) debuts at No1 this week and is the first in the franchise to reach No1 since the reboot 'DmC' back in week 3 2013.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' (5,980 / +3%) climbs three places to No2, while 'Anthem' (4,974 / -62%) falls from top spot to No4. The only other new game to make it in to the Top 40 is 'Left Alive' (947) from Square-Enix which sneaks in at No39.

Can't believe how word of mouth on RDR2's controls killed that game, after all the hype.

Crazy.

RIP DMC 6

See you in 2030 or beyond.

None wants to play linear SP games then.

Happy to see these traditional single player experiences (non open world, no/few RPG mechanics) doing well.

Someone please explain if these numbers are good or bad, we're all confused so far.

Did anyone think DMC5 was going to set the charts on fire? It's a game made for DMC fans. I can't imagine why anyone would think it would expand the audience.

Well I'm not even sure 'but digital!' can even be said for this. That's just plain bad.

What an odd statement. DmC was literally the last new release in the franchise. I guess there were a few re-releases in between but still, seems like a really forced return-to-glory narrative.

The Danger Zone
Not gonna lie i was gonna come into this thread thinking "UK buys literally anything so i expect good sales again"

UK has failed the one time we need them.

Game looks like it had a big budget...I dunno I was kinda expecting it to get a Monster Hunter kind of boost :/

Did awesome on steam though. We have to wait for US sales for the full picture but I hope all is well for the game. DMC5 is awesome

DMCV deserves more than that ffs. Left Alive in the other hand should be pulled from everywhere. What a garbage game

Maybe we should stop using the UK as a barometer for how successful a game is

Honestly I'm leaning towards this.

Pretty sure Brexit has cratered the market for games in the UK, so I would highly doubt it to be a viable barometer for game performance anywhere else anymore.

Especially when DMC5 is Capcom's second biggest PC launch ever.

Left Alive sold physically just ~20 times worse than DMCV! I think it's telling, but not sure of what.

That's just retail disc sales correct? Doesn't include digital? Because that seems very low for DMC 5 which is a great game.
