You can only build co-op stages on one console, local multiplayer battles can be done if you have more than one Switch.

This is very dumb, but doesn't really affect my purchasing decision since I don't really want to play Multiplayer very much.

Good. Anybody who paid for NSO and defended Mario Maker 2 for locking sharing functionality behind the paywall deserves this.
You do realize you can have both and most games presently do offer both online and offline multiplayer with friends even indie games.
If this is true it's baffling that they don't separate ranked from casual play when Nintendo have two titles with those features explicitly made to make online multi with friends possible. I just don't get how they wouldn't account for that in a game that has its new selling point being playing with friends.

I gave a Nintendo a pass for their shitty approach to online gaming for years but it's 2019 now. It's not funny anymore, it's just sad.

What the fuck. For once that Nintendo seems to have a solid online system, they decide to make co-op impossible with buddies, both on a single system and online. I don't know what to say, really. It doesn't change my purchase because I was gonna solo for 99% of the time, but still, what the actual fuck is Nintendo doing with its online?

In all likelihood even if we all abstained from purchasing their online service, Nintendo would somehow not understand why it is people weren't buying their service and attribute it to a lack of interest in online gaming rather than a stand against their incompetence.
