So I was browsing the new releases on Steam and this came up. I mean the concept makes it so obvious that it's some cheap knock off banking on the sexy aspects, but watching the trailer it looks surprisingly competent with a solid skill set for the main character and enemy types and move sets for them that take all that in account with solid interactions for dodging and attacking. I could actually dig it if it has decent level design on top of the good aspects seen here (and little outside this super-crass style that brings it down). I'm legit surprised.

I also just watched the first boss fight on a random YouTube video (I was searching for the trailer to embed) and it looks neat in actual gameplay conditions too.

It says 13 July for me, it's on the very first page, maybe it was early access or in certain regions only before this point. or one of those games that appears as released but you can't buy/launch it until it actually is released because something else is borked on their or Steam's end. No idea. Anything else to add other than your dig?

It looks terrible. Did you really look at this:

and think it looked competent? Poorly drawn enemies, flat backgrounds with lots of copy-pasting, massive UI with bad typefaces. Just a cheap looking game all around.

I'm all about dat gameplay, don't care for graphics, I thought the synergies of the enemy and player move sets made it look potentially competent outside its crass/low budget aspects.

How NSFW are we talking? If it's a genuinely competent game with just some silly boobs on female enemies, I wouldn't mind a decent Metroidvania to tide me over until Bloodstained is finished. If it's one of those eroge games where you get molested/assaulted by enemies as a lose condition, I'll give it a hard pass.

As bad as those tons of random VN style things you see on Steam so yeah, pretty damn awful. The second half of the trailer shows some of the enemies/traps catching the character but I wouldn't say it's that bad. Then again they wouldn't have the worst aspects in the trailer. Anyway it's not like I'll play it to tell you more before someone confirms it's legit decent :oP

okay so it seems the devs just set a random release date and it did come out today

but when the trailer has two back to back press-buttons-to-escape-being-fucked-by-blobs segments and the first messages on the discussion board are asking where the 18+ patch is...

I saw no fucking, just the token being stuck in slime enemy/trap. Ok the second one could have some hentai tentacle porn edit but as it is, it's nothing like that. Dunno about any patch.

It's a discussion board, if you're not interested you can exit the thread, rather than show your interest in me, from challenging me about the release date initially to this? Lol. Well I'm still surprised that a game like this actually seems to have solid mechanics behind it. Like, why did they even bother, the target audience clearly wouldn't mind either way, lol.

I think for the blatant and dumb-but-in-a-bad-way ecchi-ness, the GAMEPLAY looks pretty competent - I agree with OP.
Looks like a guy who really loves Castlevania and boobs and wanted to make a game, made a game. And he's classy enough not to give it away to everyone for free to get some scummy reviews.

Edit: If it weren't for the NSFWsness, I'd say the dev made the game solely for his portfolio.

There are far too many competent "Castlevania" like games out there to ever spend money on something like this imo. Weren't we just complaining the other day that the market's flooded with Metroidvanias?

It happens. Sengoku Rance is a hentai game through and through but has really awesome tactical and army management gameplay (for its time).

I'm sorry op but that looks like hot hot garbage, are you really that thirsty for a metroidvania now when there has been a bunch of good ones the last couple of years and bloodstained is just around the corner, or are you just "thirsty"?

im not trying to make it personal. everything about it is just really weird, my first post initially asked if you were associated with the game and trying to publicize it or something

buy it, and play it, then refund it if it sucks and then it doesnt have to be a thread. if its great, write a thread up that talks about how its great and you should look past the weird porn stuff.

but this is just a hey look i found this weird porn game what do you guys think maybe it could be good i dunno. like why
