Woah. o.O

But Auto's right that does seem like the simplest solution. Too bad none of them want to willingly resign and it seems they want to do as much collateral damage out the door.

I'd say have Northam and Fairfax go immediately, then have the AG appoint a successor. The AG's sins are probably the least egregious and had a solid apology, so he could hold the fort temporarily until a clean non-racist non-rapist successor is found.
That's the real trick, isn't it?

He needs to look out for that scrappy challenger Rhymenoceros
My rhymes are so potent
That in this small segment
I made all of the ladies in the area pregnant
Yes, sometimes my lyrics are sexist
But you lovely bitches and hoes
Should know I'm trying to correct this
After much soul searching, and prayers with my IRS-recognized family unit, I must decline my run for the great commonwealth of Virginia. I have in the past made very sexist and demeaning comments towards women. I can only hope to become the man I expect of myself, and I beg forgiveness from the great people of Virginia.

There is so much smoke around this and it is just completely disqualifying for me. It's like going on a date with someone who's viciously rude to the waitstaff—you know immediately they're an awful person and that it's not a behavior that exists in isolation.
I’m with you on this one. Good analogy.

How poorly can you respond to a scandal? jfc. There is an alternate universe where Fairfax mostly survives this, but he seems content to get as many people against him as possible. Who on earth is advising him?

I feel like one of things I hated about human rights becoming a partisan issue is that it something that shouldve been untouchable and not up for debate, because by even considering debating on if they are deserved makes it vulnerable, and unfortunately rights have limited application and therefore, makes it collectively appealing if that's all you can run on. In a way we're being forced to handicap ourselves compared to the other side, and hurts everyone, but minorities and women ultimately face the worst potential outcome, because even if we dont get rid of them, would they feel safe under these guys?

I'm not sure if I worded this right
This is what I'm trying to get at.

It's a lot like the morals that show up in Superhero movies. The hero wrestles with their moral obligations when there are unexpected outcomes, collateral damage. "No more dead cahps!" and that sort of thing. The hero is set between the temptation to cast their heroism aside simply to win against the villain, but they're also tempted to do so because they lose sight of what they're fighting for and let concerns about their own righteousness bog them down.

Meanwhile the villain knows this and structures their plans around it as part of an effort to demoralize them, adding to the hero's disadvantages.

Your lyrics are truly bottomless.

I will say that Fairfax joined Northam in the "how is he so bad at this" school of responses. Why Herring gives more hope because at least he seems to know what he's doing.

Three straight presidential elections of Virginia voting for a black and a woman Democratic presidential candidate really made us forget it was still a Southern state. Heck, it was the capital of the Confederacy!

Edit: this is also really cool but do city holidays typically affect non government workers?

[/QUOTE]

This is absolutely great. I wish more cities/states would follow

1. The fuck is this shit?
2. Why doesn't he have a checkmark as a Lt fucking Governor?
1. Clearly Dr. Vanessa Tyson is an evil antichrist follower meant to stop LTGOV Fairfax from doing good for Virginia. :retch:

2. This is his personal account, not the account for his LTGOV office. I agree it should still be verified, though.

That poll he posted can't possibly be right about 82% of Independents enjoying his SOTU speech right?
Didn't see this poll but in the poll I saw it was closer to 60% and that's of Independents who watched the speech, which skew very Trump in the first place. Like he was measured with an approval rating in the 60s amongst people who watched the speech.

Here is an article summarizing the CNN and CBS pools. Partisan tilt of the SotU was higher than it's been since 2001 IIRC

Warren taking questions about the Texas State Bar document. She basically reiterates what she's been saying the past couple months, but she walks away when asked by a reporter if she's thought about dropping out of the race.

It's like when you know you fucked up bad, you should kinda stay out of the limelight...

Her answer's not really that bad imo. But she's not gonna escape this ever.

Jim Acosta saying that he's got a "plugged in" source claiming there's a real possibility of a compromise before shutdown date. No idea what that's supposed to entail but.. yeah.

I think the end result of 3 scandals in VA means there isn't heat on one of them, so they all stay.
The icky, realpolitik saving grace of this is that Northam can't be elected again, anyways. That immediately solves one problem if he stays. Herring seems, from that release, like someone that at least has enough sense and maybe contrition to repair his own situation. And Fairfax can go fuck himself.

VA's gubernatorial restrictions allow for a very easy cleaning of the slate.

Also, I did this earlier and just never had an opportune time to post it -

When people tell their children (if they can afford to have any) that they can be President when they grow up, that should be amended to include, "so don't be an asshole to other people or fuck it up with stupid bullshit."

it would be uh, extremely something, if Fairfax was the only one of the three to lose his job.

True.

I honestly don't know if I have more than that, acknowledging the truth of it. This is a trainwreck, but the stereotype is a desire to watch those.

This whole thing feels more like watching a colleague give a terrible presentation. You feel sick just watching it happen. At least in that example it's because of empathy, but here I really want to just fast forward to the conclusion because I feel no empathy for any of those three men, but don't want it to impact VA Dem electability, but also realize that's a compromised viewpoint, but also understand that we are in that sort of timeline, but...

Being a big picture person too often means seeing every possibility play out and knowing they all suck.

ABC News: Rep. Bobby Scott learned of sexual assault allegations against Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax a year ago from the victim: Aides
Virginia Democratic Congressman Bobby Scott was made aware of allegations of sexual assault against now-Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax over a year ago by the alleged victim herself, ABC News has learned.
Scott learned of the allegations directly from Dr. Vanessa Tyson, who on Wednesday released a statement detailing the alleged 2004 assault, which took place at the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Fairfax vehemently denies the assault claim.
In a statement given to ABC News on Wednesday, Scott wrote, "Allegations of sexual assault need to be taken seriously. I have known Professor Tyson for approximately a decade and she is a friend. She deserves the opportunity to have her story heard.”

Much more in the link.

I've been thinking, at first i figured, all three were done. No way they'd be able to survive. But then I thought about recent history, and how outrage has only really claimed big name celebrities, and how Kavanaugh survived an extremely credible account and I think all three probably end up staying. Northam, just won't go because he seems like he lost the plot long ago. Fairfax is probably going to run a Kavanaugh with a large portion of America believing he's innocent or she is lying, and the AG being so contrite will be "forgiven".
