While I have major doubts about Warren being able to counter the firestorm Trump and the sexist nuts on the right will throw at her, I do believe she has a great chance to turn some independents toward her with good performance in the debates. She just can't frame it as "socialism." General public seems to hate that. Frame it as income inequality and as a "Look, you're being screwed over and here's why."

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying here, Warren is on record as saying the difference between her and Bernie is that she believes in markets and not socialism.

Warren has won me over. Good policies and has been consistently disciplined even when trailing in the polls. I was afraid she would start getting tangled with Trump on bullshit like the Pocahontas crap.

DC statehood bill has 209 co-sponsors. Both Pelosi and Hoyer have expressed support in the past.

I vacillate on whether DC or PR would be easier to handle first. With PR, we don't have to worry about the whole "federal district" clause in the Constitution, but the turnout in every referendum on the island's status has been abysmal. We need to allow the populace to state its desires clearly - maybe with a heavily promoted, government-sponsored plebiscite. If they know that Congress really means it this time, maybe they'll actually care to vote on the question.

DC, conversely, has loudly and consistently expressed its desire to become a state, so maybe they'll address it first. I imagine it'll be a party-line vote, whereas on PR we might be able to get Rubio, Romney, Murkowski, and maybe a few others. The GOP platform has long contained support for PR statehood, though I know the danger of expecting them to adhere to that plank when actually faced with it.

What if you took:

[✓] Biden's folksy, middle-America charm but not his bullshit 'the enemies are our friends' bothsidesism

[✓] Layering Bernie's platform into 'people with good ideas should still win in free markets with strong rules' without any of his problematic bullshit

[✓] Actually wants to prosecute and punish Trump and company and was the first to call for impeachment among candidates

[✓] Is actually woke af and can win the left

[✓] Has the right message to win white suburbs

That is totally normal. People used to tell me to protect my sister from suitors all the time. Y'all have Biden derangement syndrome. Jk.

I like how this post can be read two ways.

It's something that would not be surprising coming from my grandparents, and given Biden is as old as them...

Yep, you all fell for propaganda because it confirms with your view of what a "Bernie or Buster" is.

It's as if people learned nothing from last election. This is why I've been saying for quite sometime in this US Poli threads to quite cherry picking dumb quotes from Sanders supporters. This is the exact reason why and yet we still engage in trying to make fun of left wing voters. I dont care how much we criticize the candidate but we need to leave supporters out of it. It was well documented last election cycle that a lot of Russians posed as Sanders supporters. In addition to that I can go ahead and start picking through YouTube video comments, Facebook comments, etc. and find stupid comments made by a supporter of any candidate. The most obnoxious thing is that the poster posted that two post below a poll that stated Sanders fans were the biggest supporters of Warren and were migrating to her.

While I like many of Warren's policies, I think the scope and number of them will likely scare off a lot of voters in the general.

She will be constantly on the defense, and the election will be a referendum on her and her policies rather than Trump and his policies.

Does she have middle-America charm that would appeal to the rust belt voter? Genuine question, because I'm not sure.

Wow. A Republican is actually being taken to task on NPR right now and he can't answer the question on why the census needs a citizenship question.

John Brabender, whoever that is.

Whatever that means...

I figured the front runners would hold on to their leads until the first debate at least.

Wow even Cheeto's campaign has suppression polls (they suppress the numbers)!

Giving me flashbacks to Romney's 2012 campaign where his campaign kept firing pollsters until they found one that would cook the results for them until they had him winning Minnesota and shit. They were legitimately gobsmacked they lost because they were only paying people to say what they wanted to hear.

Obama's team to their credit started skewing their internal polls in the other direction (docking two points from Obama) because they thought the numbers were looking too good for them.

IIRC Clinton's team saw trouble in MI/PA/WI in the last weekend, but by that point it was too late to shift gears in the campaign strategy. Comey letter fucked us so hard.

I want to see a couple more polls with Bernie under 15% before saying he's dropping, but it is clear Warren is rising.
Lol the only reason the 2016 primary looked so close was because Bernie didn't drop out when it was mathematically impossible for him to win.

I mean poll numbers dropping, not him dropping out of the race.
Ah! Sure. But yeah, early signs seem to be he's not going in the right direction. In 2016 he was the only progressive choice. Warren is Bernie without the baggage, IMO.

Sanders camp already attacking pollsters and making excuses.

The reason Bernie's campaigns are always filled with people like this is because he actively wants them to be.

The race condensing to Warren/Harris/Biden would be good because I don't think Biden can win that F3. The other two would go for each other if you had a 3rd placer playing kingmaker.

Warren seems to be putting the Native American stuff behind her by being on constant offense with really good ideas that stick and play out well on social media and traditional media.

Bernie's favorables continue to be worse than any other major candidate when adjusted for name recognition.

I imagine that if she gets closer to locking up the nom, Trump will INCESSANTLY call her Pocahontas, thereby reminding everyone of it. The media will report it too because they can't help themselves. It won't go away.

Warren has always had a more aggressive view of the government's role in capitalism than me, but still the same philosophy. The job of government is to fill a role that the market naturally wouldn't, mainly one that doesn't have immediate profits/returns.

We can't live in a purely capitalist society, or the poor would be left behind even more.
