Theoretical (never gonna happen) race: If Tulsi won the democrat nomination, trump was ousted and mitt ran for president. That's an example in which i'd probably vote republican over democrat. I'm not sure how controversial of a choice that would be. The lesser of two 'evils' perhaps?

This scenario would literally make my hair fall out but I would still vote Tulsi. Some Republicans may be a lot less shitty than others but they all seem to want to govern mostly the same so pass. Also Mitt + his VP would give the GOP more of an advantage in the senate, which the Dems need to retake regardless.

What if tulsi was defeated by mecha Hitler and then it was like Harriet miers for the republican nomination but then at the last minute she ripped off her mask and revealed she was pol pot

I'd lose sleep over this choice. Chances are I just wouldn't vote for President.

Yeah, I'm on that "always vote D because there is no other choice" tip from here until some sort of appreciable party shift happens to change that.

I truly do believe that the worst Democratic member is easily superior to the best Republican member.

So Mueller and co didn't go far enough or Barr saw the fire and cut them off.

Both answers suck and lead us to where we are today. A president commiting crimes who needs to face justice.

I'd need to see a rethuglican vote against the party on something meaningful where it mattered before I'd change my mind. Lisa M kinda almost gets there but it still makes her worse than everyone in the D party.

I admire that Murkowski will vote for anything as long as it benefits Alaska and you give her a large enough bribe. Very old-school mentality.

I mean, to ask an honest question, Gabbard wasn't always shit was she? Like, it's only been the last year or two that we've seen her true colors, before that she was a relative unknown since she's only been in office since 2013. It is possible that her slide towards becoming a Russian Puppet has been slow and recent.

She's always hated gay people

She's always been a terrible person. Her father was a homophobic Republican who made his name on a proposition to ban gay marriage in Hawaii (Tulsi also appeared in said ad). In 2015, she went onto Fox News to condemn Obama for not saying
'radical Islamic terrorism', and praise Putin for bombing Syria. She is still the lifelong member of a fringe Hindu cult.

No, she went on Fox News during the Obama presidency and slammed him for not saying ~~~radical Islamic terrorism~~~ and defended Assad. It's just that no one cared because she was a loony backbencher.

But then she kissed the Bernie ring and briefly became a Cool Chick Surfer Girl Liberal Icon Who Just Wanted Peace, and for a lot of "progressive" men she became the woman they said they'd vote for (but never would, really) and gave them another person with which to bash Hillary and Democrats. She attained this status even though her record and statements were there for all to see.

Official Staff Communication
Note: This staff message has been posted in both the PoliEra and Socialism OTs, but they will be enforced across the site.

Fighting between communities has been getting worse lately, and that ends now. It's ruined too many threads at this point and it's been a constant breach of the terms of service. It's unfair to everyone else who uses this site that a small minority has been turning large swaths of EtcetEra toxic. Many users have complained about this to us and we believe they are right to do so.

In that past we've relied on ordinary bans with gradual escalation, in the hopes that this would be enough to ensure that everyone can coexist. It hasn't been enough. Users have instead resorted to trolling in subtler ways, hoping that the staff won't notice or mind. To deter this, we will now be issuing much longer bans and rapidly escalate them as hard as necessary.

There have been a handful of recurring offenders on both sides in this – you know who you are. The following goes for everyone but especially for you: The pejoratives, nicknames, turns of phrase and other creative aggressions will no longer be tolerated. Attempts to provoke one another, to gatekeep, to deliberately keep the fighting going, will no longer be tolerated. Going back to your respective OTs to whine and complain about each other will no longer be tolerated.

It all stops now. Do not complain that you were not warned.

What the hell? I feel like I missing all the drama because I don't understand what's happening. Some people take their internet forums too seriously

Did we know that she was a member of that crazy cult before 2017? I know I didn't. I guess I just wasn't paying any attention to Gabbard.

Consider that Tulsi is only registered as a Dem because of where she lives, and what her registration will be if she loses the house primary and lands a position as a Fox News contributer.

Shimon Prokupecz @ShimonPro

!!!! "When Mr. Benczkowski and fraud section lawyers met with Mr. Giuliani, they were not aware of any investigation of Mr. Giuliani's associates in the Southern District of New York and would not have met with him had they known."

I'm not sure DOJ has ever done anything like this before. So much to read into this.

Think about this for a second. This basically tells us the DOJ is done having meetings with the President's lawyer.

I'd vote for her because Mitt Romney would be presiding over a republican congress that would pass infinitely more shitty things than would happen under Tulsi and he would appoint infinitely shittier supreme court judges than Tulsi. I'd be gagging while doing so, of course.

Romney told "Axios on HBO":
  • "There's no upside in going on out and attacking the leader of your party, 'cause that's just gonna let someone come in and primary you on the right. So people want to hang onto their job."
  • "But there's another reason, which is more elevated. And that is people ... genuinely believe, as I do, that conservative principles are better for our country and for the working people of our country than liberal principles and that if Elizabeth Warren were to become president, for instance, or if we were to lose the Senate, that it would not be good for the American people."
  • "And they don't want to do something which makes it more likely for Elizabeth Warren to become president or for us to lose the Senate. So they don't want to go out and criticize the leader of our party because they feel that might have the consequence of hurting our country longer term."

Same. I haven't even clicked on the socialism thread. I didn't have a clue that people were getting this worked up over things.
mostly it's about certain members of both OTs gradually escalating threadshitting (and also posting in the community threads to complain about threadshitting) to the point that ETC is a particular brand of unreadable that you'd normally only find on, like, /r/politics
