I don;t like the redscare, but refusing to shake hand with Sanders is going to get played in a lot of places.

She should have sucked it up if even if she was absolutely disgusted with Sander's/

this is assuming that's what happened.

But I agree you should always shake a hand when offered (unless that person didn't wash their hands or you know is very unhygienic).

Even if you have a legit reason (and hating a person's guts maybe one) it always looks bad for the person refusing.

If Warren is pissed that Bernie lied, good for her because she should be pissed, but most people and voters still don't think highly of people (Especially candidates and especially women) that can't set aside emotions or differences for simple things like handshakes.

As I've said before, a lot of people who should know better have been fucking up these past two days.

Suck it up? WHY.
Why can't those damn women just stop being so emotional all the time.
Why is it always the woman who has to be the bigger person?

Every. damn. time.

Is Warren a smart operator or not?

Sexism exists. Is she able to shake it off?

If Sexism exists as it currently is, Does her action sufficiently change the formula that her current actions make sense to the vast majority of the population? If Sanders said that the current demographics mean that a female Preisdential candidate will face unfair undue opposition which might make it difficult to win, is that sexism, or just pragmatism>?

stan culture becoming part of our politics has made all of this so much stupider.
This.

If Warren had said the exact same thing about Biden instead of Sanders (being told they didn't think a woman could win) every corner of this entire forum would be cheering her on.

But nope, she came at the Yasss King.

It is slightly amusing that these things make no one happy. "There were too many debates in 04 and 08!" "Ok, we will cut back in 16". Then it was "There's too few debates in 2016!" "Ok, we will have more in 2020". Then it was "The DNC rigged it!" "Ok, we'll relax the thresholds for debates". And then it became "There's too many people running!" and it's like no shit. Add to that the "wow, they're so mean" and "why are they picking on the frontrunners" and it's just...

Something I've read/heard is that the Obama v Clinton race was way more heated than this primary. Does that still hold?

and also, maybe this is necessary. Maybe we get stronger when we learn to fight online bots and trolls, since that's all that's gonna happen in the general anyways. This is the practice run.

Omg, just for a second imagine the Wild West of twitter and Facebook if it comes down to Bernie v trump. Omg.
It would be such a toxic election.

maybe biden really is the best choice.

I'm glad you took the time to explain how women had to navigate sexism the right way!

Why doesn't this apply to #socialism...?

Women should probably just give up though, you're right.

Well it's also very bad that those reflexive defenses happen with pop stars too.

(Though less bad than politicians)

User Banned (1 Day): Hostility toward another user.
The sexism that plagues America continues to rear its ugly head, and prevents the country from making the necessary strides it needs to stop the hellscape it has become.

I can't believe dumbasses like this are still allowed to post here. They are clearly plants and this place has become a joke.

ZzzzzzZzzzZzz...
This is one of those times where I'm unable to separate my legitimate issues with Sanders as a candidate vs just being turned off by his entire existence because of internet toxicity from (what I admit are a vocal minority of) his supporters. It's Trumpian troll-style bullshit.

It was WAAAAY worse, because there were actually two candidates who had a realistic chance of winning. Obama's "You're likable enough" was super fucking sexist. 2008 was fucking rough as hell.

I loved it.

I am very annoyed by the fact that Warren's reputation as a progressive icon means absolutely nothing to certain people . Talk about a cult of personality.

I no longer support Warren because of her shitty healthcare and wealth tax policies, so I'm not saying this out of loyalty to her. I just think it's sad that all her achievements mean nothing simply because she had the nerve to run against a male with similar ideology.

Yeah and Hillary threw REAL SMOKE at Bams too, it was good times on both sides of the fight. It was the last primary before peeps got "too online" I'd say. Politics are different now.

Outside of the ERA bubble; most seem disappointed to absurdly outraged with Liz.
And of course, there are probably a ton of trolls who wouldn't vote for either Candidate who will run with this for awful reasons of their own. That denial of a handshake will not help her at all when those same people share their viewpoints.

Still believe Bernie; would still vote for EW if she is the nominee, but this whole thing is a nightmare for progressives. Our country is doomed to more years of Centrism and Neo-Liberal Policies that will certainly doom us all even if Biden wins the Presidency (which I have doubts about despite everyone saying it's a sure thing here).

There's no reason to be shitty to each other. If someone's posts annoy you, just block them. No reason to be antagonistic towards people instead of policies.

Unless the person is Bernie Sanders, then you should totally be shitty towards him.

(I can't help it)

I mean, outside of the twitter and Very Online bubble, my guess is you'll see a different response, which is that most people like most of the candidates.

In their eyes Bernie, the guy who's spent 30 years in government and just recently started influencing politics, is the best shot at progress.
not becausehe has a plan, or a history of getting shit done, but because it's a "movement".

Every great leader makes you think change is only possible with them, and they aren't possible without you. So his supporters only see him, becuase they think he sees them.

I mean Bernie looks badly in that exchange too. Just as bitter and petty. Both of them are acting ugly. Just watching what Bernie said, there were better ways to go over the issue, and even an apology would probably not hurt him more than dividing the progressive field. Then everyone could move on.

But idk, it just that I highly doubt Warren would be having this "nuke it all" attitude if she was polling higher than Bernie.

Ultimately politics are a play. Warren has played her card. If it works for her good. She would be the best candidate the Dems have ever run and possibly the most competent president ever.

We will know in one week though if polls start to shift. I am skeptical though.

Melkr's been around a while, and I think even at the old place? I doubt they're a plant, just dumber than shit and a terrible person.

I'm not aware of their other name. I was on the old place too . I can't even tell anymore between plants and people that are legit.

I'm pretty sure you're just looking at a different bubble lbr.
I bet you are getting these impressions from the twitter bubble

Probably; in the real world I'm sure 80%+ of people aren't paying attention, and most of them will just decide whom to vote for on election day.

EDIT: If they bother to vote at all in the primaries or general election.

In general I agree, but I think a lot of posts today have been just pure, unadulterated sexist nonsense, and I'm not sure if I want to ignore that.

Looking at this thread and the general discussion of politics on the site. I feel like some people lack self-reflection. Sometimes I feel like the next gen thread on gaming side is more civilized.

Yeah totally, I think though whenever folks around here yasss queen for Pelosi or Clinton or whoever there's at least a hint of irony behind it? Like most of us are pretty sober about their weaknesses and disappointed when they fail.

Just think of everyone who cheered on Warren tonight who declared her candidacy dead on arrival. I was probably one of them.

I don't fuck with Twitter so the KHive is mostly invisible to me, here it seems to be more of a problem with the militant Sanders supporters (lord knows we don't have any actual Trump supporters, at least who talk about it openly), hence my bringing them up. But that is all my very biased perspective.

He's the most popular guy from Chapo Trap House, a popular Socialist podcast that adores Bernie Sanders and also cocaine and maybe Iran sometimes.

Well there's your problem.

Also glad to see the mask come off some online "leftists".

LOL memeing Warren into Hillary reveals what you all really are. Shit.

Chapo Leftists.
