Jesse McKinley @jessemckinley

"I don't want to be vice president," says @NYGovCuomo

2:46 PM - Mar 26, 2020

Zack Fink @ZackFinkNews

.@NYGovCuomo tells @AlanChartock ( who says he believes Cuomo should be Vice Presidential pick of @JoeBiden ) "you're kind. But I don't want to be Vice President. I told the people of New York State I will be their Governor."

2:47 PM - Mar 26, 2020

I believe Cuomo has no desire to be VP.
I think people just assumed Ronan Farrow is out there trying to break the story because that's what people assume about Ronan Farrow. Someone posted the same thing about Kavanaugh last year. I'm not sure he ever engaged on it.
The New Yorker located Deborah Ramirez, another Kavanaugh victim, after Ford's testimony. I can't remember if Farrow wrote the story.

This is the kinda thing that makes a career, wins you a Pulitzer, you get to write your check. No one in their right mind would risk getting scooped. Odds are people are working on reporting it as we speak.
If this specific story doesn't pick up traction in the mainstream media within the next two weeks, I don't think it ever will.

To be clear, I'm not implying some GRAND CONSPIRACY or anything. But I'm just trying to point out that there are real reasons that we see time and time again for a story to not "blow up" immediately, either due to the news cycle, cynical political strategy, or other factors. Also, well-sourced quality journalism takes time. We literally don't know shit right now, so the best thing we can do is wait for more reporting and not make asses out of ourselves downplaying rape accusations in the meantime.

Liberals in 2020: I don't endorse my candidate being a rapist; I just want the Supreme Court.

I'm still flabbergasted that multiple campaigns had this information for months now, and did nothing with it. Warren especially.

And with how much chatter and overlap there was between campaign staffers and campaigns in general, I'd be surprised if every campaign didn't have this info either directly or indirectly.

If the intent of the story is to hurt Biden politically, now seems to be a very poor time to release it. However, it is also unusual that there is, so far, no corroboration.

She probably talked with Kirsten about what happens to women who have information and "do something" with it

She's/her's is not the only campaign that got this info, apparently. But I also can't square her attacks on Bloomberg over very much a similar topic with not acting on this.

Liz Smith and Symone Sanders are buddies and tweeting back and forth jokingly. She's also retweeting Biden's tweets.

It's confusing.

Because Bloomberg isn't a beloved politician whose votes she was angling for. Warren wanted Biden supporters to vote for her. She wanted to blow Bloomberg's campaign out of the water and knew anybody that was ride-or-die with Bloomberg was not a Warren voter anyway. Bloomberg was the perfect punching bag for Warren because he represents exactly what her campaign says is the main problem with the country. Biden isn't the same kind of stand-in for that.

My biggest problem is: how can you have Democracy in a country full of racists and sexists and idiots?
my preferred take of course is we go full on technocracy, and simplify the system. Why do we have states anyways? What makes me a Floridian and an American at the same time, but I can't smoke weed legally, while a Washingtonian is also an American but can smoke weed?

A couple things probably. She attacked Bloomberg via NDAs, which are basically an assumption of guilt.

Also, the last time she tried to leverage a woman's word against a man's, she was pilloried.

Most likely, there just wasn't enough there.

am i crazy for thinking a campaign probably doesn't want politicize a non-public assault allegation that was pitched directly to them, vs "doing something" with a story published in a respected media outlet?

Should have at least directed it at said media, no? This was months ago.

Her's wasn't the only campaign, though. Warren I highlight because I think she'd fight for something like this or at least I would she would. But what about everyone else? The field wasn't all women vs. Biden. Yang? Bernie? Pete?

how great this election would've been if biden and Bernie hadn't jumped in. I declare we need a "can't run if you've lost before" clause.

If this were a thing we would've had a president Sanders in 2016.
Given Sanders performance in the current primary, we likely would've had Harris or Booker in 2016. Warren probably would've ran, actually... Hillary was Sanders best chance at the nom and Trump was Hillary's best chance at the presidency.

Reid has in recent weeks told Biden he supports Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto as his VP nominee, part of an effort to give a shot in the arm to his Latino support as general election approaches. Biden told Reid she is in his "top three" for the role, three sources confirmed to me.

I was wondering when CCM would enter the conversation. It really seemed like she had no interest in national politics after 2016.

Whose election is 2020 for?
A safe generic democrat.
which for a whole year is why Biden was the front runner, people got anxious and jumped to warren, Pete, Amy, Bloomberg, but then went back to him when they realized they were gonna allow the less safe bernie was gonna win, so now its Biden again.
Before these allegations I think he was a LOCK to win, now id say he will face a tougher November but I still think hell win.

NEW: Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker emotionally rips into the Trump administration for out-bidding states on medical equipment: "I have had confirmed orders for millions of pieces of gear evaporate in front of us, and I can't tell you how frustrating it is."

oh good, the shit show is expanding.

OT has become way worse since Bernie tied in Iowa. People have deluded themselves into thinking that just because they are personally surrounded by "always morally right socialists" that the country IMMEDIATELY needs to be handed over to Bernie Sanders, when the reality is change in democracy is slow and requires voting, compromise and pragmatism, aka, the busters biggest weaknesses.

BTW, I think everyone should take a moment, remember that Paul Ryan was speaker two years ago, and consider what an absolute shaft the the actual people in the US would be getting if he had still in place.

Its enough to give me a small sigh of relief in these troubling times.
