This is considered child porn in my country, by law. Obviously illegal to store or spread. Not a great look for Valve.

Which country? This game was developed in the UK, so it's probably not going to contain any material that would be considered illegal in most places.

Makes sense. Valve is prrtty serious about VR and they'd be fools not to corner the VR porn marketplace.

I almost spit out my coffee lol.

Also yay, this gives the creators a spotlight/legit platform to sell their stuff.

Great! I'm not personally interested, but it makes the Steam stance much more consistent.

Finally, child pornography for everyone!

I don't mind Steam selling games with sex in them, but the continued normalization of children as sex objects is really worrying, and people cheering this on need to take a hard look at themselves.

I wonder is if Valve will add per-game privacy settings for users who want to buy and play naughty games on their account without advertising their scandalous behavior to their friends and family.

All primarily pornographic/erotic games are banned from discussion from the pattern of locked threads that I've seen. NSFW thread premises in general seem to get locked too so I don't see this thread lasting.

A very US thing imo, anything sexual/nsfw is no no but gore/violence is a OK. Total opposite in Japan lol

My understanding is, the list of games where discussion is locked is for games containing racist/homophobic/sexist content and/or sexual depictions of underage characters (presumably by US law, since it's a US based site). You can check the list yourself, it should be in the FAQ.

Provided this discussion remains focused on Steam's policies and new approach of adult content, I don't see the issue with this thread existing.

Well, good?!?

Generally allowing adult content of sexual nature should be done. Those who have a problem with it but don't mind the often ultraviolent games are somewhat ridiculous.

Now, that doesn't mean that individual games (including this one perhaps) can't have questionable or downright illegal content that should get them banned (maybe even sued, depending on circumstances) and I don't doubt that many such porn games exist and a few will try to get on their.

In principle, though, I don't have a problem with this.

Mostly, anyway. One has to admit that games are already full of sexualization (or objectification) that one can easily deem 'damaging' to society in some aspects and porn is often just the worse in that regard. Would a potentially much broader, easy access to games that might be like that be an issue? Perhaps? On the other hand, half of the internet is already easily accessible porn anyway, so how much of an impact could this really have at large?

After Hatred, i knew Valve would eventually do this, they are a private company so they can pretty much get away with it, i mean that quite literally, they don't have public share holders to answer to like say EA do if EA decided to put this stuff on Origin.

Literally could not care less, if theyre hidden fine. Zero impact on me or anyone else that doesn't click that option to show them. I don't really see a problem with it.

Personally I think people should be able to make adult games and they should be able to sell them on some sort of service.

While this isnt my cup of tea... I do think it could lead to a step foward hopefully. I do also hope they regulate this stuff well.

This is really great news we no longer have to tap dance around on what is and isn't allowed on steam this should also lead to a better experience for users who buy this type of content, before you had to get a patch to restore content and with this change that should no longer be necessary.

Good - if we can have extreme violence I don't see why those who choose to make content like this shouldn't have a platform too.

To people equating this with violence: are there any games that feature explicit, graphic violence against children? Because to most of us that seems to the problem, not so much the sex itself.

Good. Censorship is never, never good.

With that said, they should remove this game. The characters don't look 18 even if the creators say so.

I mean, that's cool and all.

But does anyone want their Steam friends to know when they're jerking it to anime porn? I feel like an alternate "Steam for porn games" makes more sense even if it's not going to have as wide as market.

Do we have confirmation that the characters are under 18, or is this just the same "it's CP, ban it!!!!" nonsense anti-porn types always use to try to taint all adult content they don't care for?

That's implied violence, not explicit.

They look like bog standard generic anime faces with bodies covered in fog monster.

They look really young to me, and the full game won't be censored.

I mean, does it really matter? I'm not an "anti-porn type" by any measure, but I don't think a character bio should be enough to dispel worries of sexualization of children.

Ultra violence with heads exploding= okay.
Nudity and sex= gross!

'murrica.
Getting rid of this long-term stance in gaming is what makes this such a good step IMHO.

Both extreme violence and explicit sex should be filtering options, both should be disabled by default, and neither should prevent a game from being sold to adults who want it.
We are basically there now.

Personally no this is more a win for VNs at least in my opinion, a lot of the well regarded stories have some NSFW content in them so rather than censor them or ban them outright I can get the original version with all the content left in tack.
I'm not a huge fan of the NSFW content but I would rather it be in the game with a option to turn it off then it be gutted from the game with no way to get it back for those who want it.

Would be interesting to see the amount of titles that could fit a criteria of not offending in any way. Probably some choco chip game.

While the game in the OP is not something I have interest in, due to its art style and the visual age of the "dragons", if people want this kind of game at least now they have a legitimate place to buy it.

Im curious more about what other types of games this might lead to in the future that arent just hentai.
