this sort of thing grosses me out. drawing a 10 year old and writing 18 in their character profile doesn't make it ok.

To people equating this with violence: are there any games that feature explicit, graphic violence against children? Because to most of us that seems to the problem, not so much the sex itself.

There are countless 18+ games on steam sofor me this is just anothe one.

In a world that DOOM 2016 and Mortal Combat can have a steam release, every game can be in that store.

This should really be mentioned in OP, all this content are hidden by default and you can't see it unless you log in to your account and change store preference, that look like this:
6549KtT.png

Not sure what boxes are checked by default, but if this content bothers you that much, you can always hide it. Moreover, a few months ago Steam started to blur screenshots if their automated system will detect mature content on them, so it's not like you'll accidentally see this content if some of your friends post screenshots from those games. So I'm not sure why everyone is so upset about this, even if you think that some content crossing the line and shows something illegal, then just report it with proofs, report button is still here, Valve constantly removing fake games and I'm sure adult content would be no different.

Idm porn games but atleast make the girls and boys look adult and have adult proportions.

Personally i quit porn (i admittedly was addicted to it for years) cuz its not healthy and gives weird expectations and fantasies irl in relationships sex wise. So thats why i quit + it can literally make you incompetent or well till you quit.

jasec already added it to the OP before i could revise it

Good to see Valve taking a stand for adults actually being capable of making decisions for themselves. There's hope for US yet.

i'm not sure there's much point in discussing this with you. lol
Hold on, gotta get my eyes to roll back to where I can see straight again... Yup, there we go.

Loli shit is gross. Sexualized child characters, are gross.

These are not children. "Anime" is not, in fact, a direct translation of "exclusively children characters".

Yeh. Look at that disgusting Peach avatar. Only a true degenerate could sport something so vile.

Or maybe you just don't want to bother engaging in actual arguments and therefore resort to petty avatar shaming. One that doesn't even make much sense here, if we're honest.

Good. Adult content should be age gated, but it should be allowed. Puritanical attitudes to sex and nudity benefit absolutely nobody. Steam's new policy of "if it's legal, it's allowed" is a breath of fresh air coming from a major distribution platform.

Does this mean we will finally get Saya no Uta on steam?

Edit: and all those other VNs that got censored will possibly get updates to bring back the lewd stuff?!

I wonder how many more posts about "violence good sex bad puritan!!" are we gonna see where the most problem some people have expressed is having sexualized minors and not sex in itself.

It's like some people have these posts written in a notepad and just copy paste it in every thread.

I wonder if we will see some of those patreon games on steam now, obviously not the most recent version limited to patreon tier x or y, but the older version often shared for free anyway.

I don't really mind that they're adding these games. That said, I can see them putting something like Dream Daddy in this category in the future and really pissing a lot of people off.

You could make an anatomical estimates based on head to height ratio and the shapes used, but that's still something im not sure how steams employees would even determine. Anatomically, your examples are exaggerated adult female figures with googly eyes, a line for a nose and non existent lips.

Violence is violence, realistic or not.

Pesronally as a grown up man, i can't even look at fatalities in the last MK. Does this give me the right to ask for banning this game?

You can ask for any ban you want, just don't expect it to happen. Doom is so far removed from anything realistic in particular and only features hideous demon monsters dying.

Dream Daddy has no nudity whatsoever . It wouldn't be in this category.
Something like Coming Out on Top, if uncensored, would obviously be in this category, yes.

That's an interesting question. If the games weren't sold as having adult content, I wonder if Valve would be okay with them having adult content patched back in. It's sort of like adding content that changes the age rating of a product after it was sold at a lower rating, and AFAIK that's usually frowned upon.

I'm not sure where you're going with this. Yes, they look like adults drawn with an 'anime' style?

This. Those look like kids.
Kids with hips the size of Texas and breasts the size of Alaska?

Surprised it took this long. Glad there's a filter at least, though due to that, most games will probably still be sold with those "uncensored patch" tactics for maximum sales.

It's a good policy from Valve. Enables more consumer choice and options for everyone. As well as making it possible for the devs to make actual profits.

I don't personally care for the anime titles that are bound to be the majority of this category (understandable given that they're cheap-ish to make) but hopefully we'll see something really interesting in the future now that devs don't have to consider the AO content rules.
