Unturned appeared on my library at random one day. Tried it anyway.

The impressive thing was, the lad was 16 years old and having a game that big already.

These are LTD numbers right, not active users? A dumb question I know, and I'm sure I'm right, just wanted to be sure!

Terraira getting some love still is surprising to me. Wish they hadn't canned the sequel. Such a great little game
they canned *a* sequel.
Terraria Otherworld was a seperate game to Terraria 2.. Otherworld was being done by the team responsible for the mobile port and Terraria 2.. we haven't heard anything about in a very long time now that I think about it.

I don't believe that would have any impact on the accuracy of the overall player data.

Considering the entire method (prior to Valve shutting it down) relied on parsing Achievements, the fact that not only my Achievements, but a block of players Achievements (anyone who has played on both the direct Warframe client and through Steam) are not tallied properly has a direct impact on the accuracy.

"As far as we can tell, the number is actually closest to "totaly number of Steam users who have played the game at least once." People with the game in their account but who have never touched it don't count."

Skyrim never ceases to amaze me on these kinds of lists. Despite beating it at release (no mods, never did DLC) it was never great to me. Bethesda really struck gold with it regardless, I wonder if the next TES will be able to dethrone it.

Crazy how close these two are

Fuck yeah, that's awesome. Dark Souls II close to 2.7 between both versions.

Civilization 5 has quietly lifted itself to be one of the most successful strategy games of all time. An astounding success by Firaxis, I'm hoping future Civ 6 expansions will do something similar for that game in time.

I had to google a bunch of those, now I'm feeling out of touch.

In other news, Age of Empires II HD did close to 6 million. WHY IS AOE4 TAKING SO LONG BOYS

Final Fantasy XV is about to hit 500k. Not bad at all.

Meanwhile, Zodiac Age is struggling at 110K but Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster has done well and currently at 568K. I guess FFXII as a game is just not appealing to the majority.

Considering this doesn't count :

Origin, Uplay, GoG, Battle.Net etc, this is a lot of sales and activity. PC gaming is really really doing awesome. Combined with the strong console market, it's fantastic to see. Hopefully this will mean less late ports over time. Having games come later such as Destiny 2, MHW, etc is a bad policy. I know it's probably partially due to people trying to copy Rockstar's double dip thing with GtAV and apparently RDR2, but it seems archaic in this era now.

It's a far cry from the dark days of Gen7, when ports would very often either be late, bugged, compromised, or a combination of those issues if they even bothered.

Looks like Street Fighter V isn't on the list here.

Some game numbers I decided to check out:
MvC: Infinite at 53,532.
FFXV at 489,872.
Skyrim at 13,235,488, Special Edition 4,398,897, and VR at 99,326.
Fallout 4 at 6,601,188, VR at 133,476 (FO3 not listed).
Slay the Spire at 1,122,489.

Devil Halton's Trap
Trails in the Sky: 254,152
Trails in the Sky SC: 37,625
Trails in the Sky the 3rd: 14,844
Trails of Cold Steel: 47,881
Trails of Cold Steel II: 17,349

Ys VIII: 8,874
Tokyo Xanadu eX+: 10,220
Even better:

Player numbers of Falcom Games on Steam, per 1.7.2018 (excluding people that own games but haven't played them)

TitS FC: 254.152
TitS SC: 37.625
TitS 3rd: 14.844
ToCS: 47.881
ToCS II: 17.349

Ys I & II: 140.737
Ys Oath: missing
Ys Origin: missing
Ys Arc: 36.523
Ys Seven: 11.563
Ys VIII: 8.874

Xanadu Next: 8.093
Tokyo Xanadu: 10.220

Zwei: AA: 2.229
Zwei: II: 3.466
Gurumin: 49.773

Bear in mind that these numbers reflect player count, not owner count, and that some games have more of a difference between playership and ownership. Many Falcom game players have bought but set aside games like Zwei to focus on Trails or Ys first.

Witcher 2 being within a million of Witcher 3 is surprising, I expected 3 to be twice as big.

How reliable these estimates? From what I understand they're looking for the irreducible fractions which are equal to achievements percentages, but what if the fraction used to calculate these percentages weren't irreducible to begin with?

Thank God gtav isn't higher tbh. The online has become so terribly pay to win and the prices for the sharkcards are extremely steep.

Other than FFXV and Zodiac Age, all those FF games have been sold at $10 or less on steam sales, so not really a surprise.

FF12 released at a really dumb price.

I feel ashamed I never heard of Unturned before and its a top 5 title.

What the hell is Unturned? O.o

I don't know what it is either.

Unturned is a game that went viral several years back as a feel good story, where the main hook was that it was made by someone super young (like 9 years old or something). It's not a bad game, but it's not 27-million people playing good or anything. Most of its fame was supporting the young developer who was enthusiastic.

I am apparently one of those 27 million customers. I remember buying it solely to support the dev.

Well I hope we get some sort of sequel regardless who's making it. I'd buy day one

This isn't the Valve game leak I was hoping for, but it's pretty interesting nonetheless. I guess I didn't realize how huge TF2 was.
