I was first exposed to this incel malarkey in the CringeEra thread. Suffice it to say, this has to one of the pettiest reasons for a killing spree if true. And the places that breed and stoke the fires of resentment should definitely be put on terrorist watch lists. Furthermore, I don't know if the American media has picked up on the emerging details of the deplorable crime because earlier it generated a lot of anti-muslim sentiment when religion has no part to play here.

Ted Cruz was already milking the incident on live TV literally moments after it happened when some reporter asked him about the Pompeo hearings

I can't believe one of those fucking losers actually did this. That community is pure poison. But I wouldn't have predicted it would end up with this shit. Makes me reevaluate the whole thing. Up till now I was just laughing at them, now I'm thinking that maybe words like 'nihilism', 'indoctrination' and 'radicalism' might apply.

edit: I see others had the same thoughts.
Elliot Rodger was apparently motivated by the same ideology. His original plan was to shoot up a women's sorority. When he couldn't gain access he shot two sorority members outside, then went in search of other victims.

You can still get news from Twitter. Just be sure to follow only reputable news sources that also have a "verified" tick so you know they are who they claim to be.
Faith Goldy has a blue tick. I’m not sure why. Just follow the real reporters.
That's what I meant by 'reputable news sources that also have a "verified" tick.'

The tick needs to be there so you know the person really represents the reputable news organisation they claim to be with.

Chad and Stacy are memetic characters representing sexually active men and women. The investigating authorities stated some time ago that they weren't treating this incident as terrorism-related.
“Chad and Stacy” is 4chan slang for men and women with healthy sex lives, who don’t want to be involved with basement dwelling sociopaths.
Of course they do. Shit, the second I clicked "post" the thought of those names meaning this in 4chan crossed my mind.

Well at least we can be freed from hateful rhetoric about muslims and inmigrants.

? Not sure I follow what you mean?
U.S. police get a lot of flak for shoot-first-check-later policy and argument always goes that the police should be trained how to compose themselves in confrontations (which is correct). Now people are saying they should have shot the culprit for pretending to have a gun, when successful detainment like this one mean he will live to give more information & face actual consequences.

It's like some people want gung ho western style justice, not realizing suicide by a cop and matyrdom is a thing.

It has to be said that since this was Canada the cop knows there's a much much MUCH lower chance that the criminal they're trying to arrest will be packing heat since getting a firearm in Canada is that much harder. Ergo cops can afford to not be constantly scared for their lives when they know there's a low chance of bullets flying their way resulting in more restrained cops with less trigger happy fingers.

...... god damn what the fuck is wrong with people.
I read his "manifesto", and while this does not excuse anything he did, I believe this guy was severely mentally ill.
He views women as objects (he doesn't even humanize them enough to express hatred for them, it's that bad), he hates men who are loved by women, he resents his mother for not marrying the rich man who liked her to enable him to get money, he even plans to murder his child brother to make sure he never becomes more successful than him.
Absolutely disgusting.

Sorry for the derail. This just stirred up awful memories and I still can't believe this man existed the way he did.

Ah - yeah, that makes sense. Thanks! I thought *you* were meaning the cop should have killed him.

Smfh... Fuck 4chan/reddit, incels and that entire detestable toxic culture.

That shit was simply cringe worthy before but with Rodgers and now this murderer, we have an entire generation of disturbed and entitled men that pose a potential danger to everyone.

You do realise there are three guns for every ten people in Canada. This much lower rate you refer to is not miniscule, the difference is training and consequence. It is also not that hard to get a gun, we have this neighbor to our south and one of the biggest unguarded borders in the world.

BTW, there was a "leak" in the american press that this was a known terrorist suspect. Bullshit. Looks like some "trusted" law enforcement sources to msnbc just want to spew disinformation.

He may turn out to be mentally ill but if he's just a hardcore incel that in no way is a mental illness, and most of the things you list are typical incel beliefs/views.

So it's been confirmed he was an incel then? Fucking scum.

Something needs to be done about that group of people like right fucking now. Shit is only gonna get worse after this attack.

Social Media is like the enemy of facts.
Social media brings people together per Facebook.

Including toxic, bitter, hateful people.

They all get together on reddit and enable each other. A small number of them(probably with mental health issues too) get pushed over the edge and buy a gun or get behind a van and decide to act out their rage.

I was walking around the area for lunch and Yonge street has just started opening up again. Seems so strange to see everything getting back to normal. They were still surveying the site closest to where he hit people.

Pretty much confirmed, yes. Whether it directly motivated the attack is still in question, but I wouldn't be surprised considering his comments regarding that Elliot Rodger murderer.

The picture released of the first identified victim looks like a vibrant beautiful women. Exactly the kind of target an incel would go after. I know it's early but it seems to fit, with the current theory.

CBC was getting trashed a lot of places because FB nuked this guys profile and gave no statements.

Given the nature of the breaking news cycle, a lot of people concluded yesterday that the CBC got trolled by a 4chan fake, and those people will not read the followups, further delegitimising mainstream news in their minds.

I understand FB wanting to discourage people trawling the histories of people recently implicated in mass killings, but when they just delete peoples accounts without comment, it harms the work of journalists.

Not surprisingly, not even a disingenuous word of condolence from Trump. Then again, the suspect doesn't fit or further his agenda.
