This is a couple days old but I didn't see a thread:

From Variety:
Lawyers for "Girls" writer Murray Miller — who has been accused of sexual assault by actress Aurora Perrineau — had initially claimed that Perrineau had demanded money from Miller. Now his lawyers are apologizing, saying that claim was incorrect — and that she'd never requested damages.

In a statement to Variety, Donald Walerstein and Matthew Walerstein wrote, "In a previous statement to the media, we stated that Ms. Perrineau sought substantial monetary damages from our client Murray Miller. Neither Ms. Perrineau nor her attorney have ever made a demand for money. Our previous above statement was incorrect and the result of a good-faith misunderstanding."

In addition to Girls, Miller has worked on American Dad and King of the Hill.

LOL! You just made your defense a let of a lot weaker now.

How do you "misunderstand" that?

"Attack the Accuser" might be a meme for 2017

There is this insidious and frighteningly recurring tactic being used by a lot of entities lately where they loudly make some baseless but personally advantageous claim and then quietly retract later, where the public sphere/reputation damage is already done and, worse, those who need to hear said retraction likely either won't or simply will refuse to believe it after the fact, all seemingly with the expectation that because they "self-corrected" that they shouldn't expect punishment. It's weaponized conspiracy theory.

"Our previous above statement was incorrect and the result of a good-faith misunderstanding."

A good-faith misunderstanding that just so happens to be a common tactic used to discredit victims of abuse. Just throw that out there at the start to make people think that all she really wants is money.
