Also, unrelated of course, but the impending food shortage due to inhospitable temperature changes is really impacting the supply chain.

I'm in North Phoenix and snow is about a 20 minute drive from me right now. After I hike I'm heading North to see the snow.

Hey Vegas... are you all ok? That half inch is murder.

Concerned east coaster who just got 6 inches of snow, and a quarter inch of ice.

You think that's bad. Canada has massive amounts of forest that cause more greenhouse gases than they reduce. That's how bad our forest fires are. We don't even include the forest figures when we release our greenhouse gas figures total.

I was in Vegas in the 2000s and it snowed. Taxi s were lined up at the Vegas sign as people were wanting pictures.

It's a rain/snow mix. Nothing is really sticking, at not in North Las Vegas.

It's is quite a lot of precipitation for the area, though.

When I was in Vegas in December, I could NOT believe how cold it got! I've only been in the summer, when 11PM at night still meant disgustingly hot outside, which already was weird to me (not used to desert weather...) It dipped kinda close to freezing, but not quite there. So weird to see so much snow!

In the Bay Area, we actually still have snow caps on this highest hills, which is also kinda weird to see. Hail the other day, but that happens for a few minutes, like, once a year. Weather be nuts this year!

Meanwhile, in the UK temperatures are way above normal for this time of year. We should be around 10 to 11C but instead some parts are hitting 18C. It's still winter and yet temps are around late spring.

You must be in Arizona because that's a place that gets more than a foot of snow now.

Any particularly unusual area? Northern Arizona, like Flagstaff is higher in elevation than say Phoenix. I visited twice in 2012 in the summer and winter, and the temperature difference between both cities was like 30-40 degrees. Flagstaff and further up at the Grand Canyon were covered in snow.

LAS VEGAS - Some Las Vegas neighborhoods are experiencing more than 8 inches of snow during this February winter storm that moved into the valley Wednesday night.

The snow started falling around 6 p.m. and has mostly impacted neighborhoods along the western edge of the valley. However, snow is also falling on the Las Vegas Strip.

The Anthem neighborhood in Henderson has received about 2 to 4 inches of snow but in Summerlin some areas have received as much as 8 inches.

This is crazy. As a Vegas resident for 20 years, this has never happened. According to AP, this is the first time since people started recording weather patterns in Vegas (1937) that there's been enough snowfall in the metro area to take measurements.

Does Vegas get pretty cold at night during the winter time? I remember going there in March a few years ago and it got to around 40 degrees at night. Only 10 more degrees and add some rain and snow is possible.

I spent 7 days in Vegas and 13 days in Fresno. And only now, after finally coming back to my country, it snows in Vegas? I think I have to come to terms that I'll never see snow in my life.

The low last night was supposed to be at 22.

It's still coming down in summerlin right now.

I've probably live in Vegas 20+ years and can honestly say I've never experienced snow.

It's unreal

Lately it's low-mid 30s so super cold to us. Hoping this is it, as next week is projected to be 60s already

Damn, can we request a title change? That's significantly more than half an inch. That's a legit fucking snowstorm!

That's wild and i'm sure can't be good for local wildlife.
Is that kind of low temps abnormal during winter or no?

Edit: 8 inches of snow is a lot for anywhere let alone for Vegas! God damn!
It's abnormal. Normally our lows only get into the mid 30s-low 40s this time of year. Like, we're usually already headed towards spring in the last half of February.
