Pretty similar voice to Vic, kinda surprised they didn't (assuming that the rumor is true) go for someone who naturally has a deeper/more masculine voice. Guess it makes sense with how soft spoken new Broly is.
He'd be a good choice if true, he has a similar kind of voice but seems like he has better range.
I joked that anybody could replicate Broly's voice if they tried hard enough but... I don't think a VA known for generic smug teenage males is going to be great for this character.

It's not like Broly's new VA has to reprise all of Vic's roles. If the new VA has the range to do Broly, then cool, I don't mind, but Papenbrook's resume leaves much to be desired if he's to be taking the role.
He's also Rohan Kishibe.

His Rohan is probably the most phoned in performance I've heard in a while.
It's not like Broly is some complicated role, he's either screamy or pretty monotone. Vic's Broly wasn't even that great tbh.
Oh my god seriously! It's jarring hearing the great performances come out of Billy Kametz as Josuke (and he's a newbie voice) and D.C. Douglas as Kira, and then hearing Vic deliver his lines in what's basically his normal voice. You had one job! You had to say "Sorry but I refuse" in a cocky voice, and you read it in a bland tone!
New Broly is pretty soft spoken and innocent, I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the main things that they looked at in casting.
I don't even hate Vic as a voice actor I think he's fine but it's so jarring like you said hearing Josuke and Kira voice actor going far and beyond and doing amazing work and then Vic completely botching Rohan most iconic line
The fact that his entire performance for Rohan just sounds like Vic puckering his lips and speaking slightly more stiltedly is hella awful. I saw the "Sorry but I refuse" clip and it really has absolutely no punch to it.
In a way I'm glad; someone earlier on in this thread suggested Vic fans would use that clip to support him, but then he completely botched it.
Bryce sounds pretty close to Broly as Devilman in Devilman vs. Cyborg 009. Like 100% acceptably so.
Not to defend Vic but if lines come out "wrong" in the finished product , in most if not all cases the director is to blame. They wanted him to sound that way. Quite possible he couldn't take direction too, though.
Nah, everyone else is killing it, this one is all on Vic. That line is easiest to point to because it's iconic but his entire performance is just flat.
I would agree with you because it's usually when an actor or voice actor don't deliver at least when it's competent one
But considering everyone else in the dub cast is doing good work even in that episode and so far they deliver when it comes to the big jojo moments
