Don't really get exposed to Vic stans too often since I don't use Twitter, but I was looking at the timeline of one and I saw a retweeted gotcha that I genuinely can't figure out. It was this segment from I forget which deposition, presumably Vic's:

MR. LEMOINE: The Fuhrer.
MR. BEARD: The Fuhrer?
MR. LEMOINE: Yeah.
MR. BEARD: As in Adolph Hitler?
MR. LEMOINE: I don't know.
MR. BEARD: Is that how it's spelled?
MR. LEMOINE: Yes.

And the comment along the lines of "lol, lemoine is so stupid". But I don't see how you're even supposed to get that from this excerpt. My first thought it is it's supposed to be duh it's obviously an anime thing, except it was Beard that brought up Hitler. The next thing is that he said he didn't know if Fuhrer was referring to Hitler, so maybe it's calling him stupid for that. But if he's stupid for that, then what, he's supposed to say "of course your client's fanclub is referring to him as if he's Adolph Hitler"?

That's new info. You have to rent those meeting rooms from what I can see, and I can't imagine it'd be cheap especially given the location. They don't give general prices but I'm seeing mention of a $5000 voucher; I'm wondering if it's actually going to be profitable for Vic.

To get an idea of the size, the room is Barrymore, in the bottom left corner. It's not the smallest but it's far from their biggest meeting room.

Is that room named after Al Jolson? The guy that made his fortune through blackface?

Hopefully people can get over being Huber fanboys enough to see him for the trash that he is.

If he thinks HP is evil, then why would he dub something like Yu Yu Hakusho, which is a series about demons

Hell how was he okay with reprising 17 in Dragon Ball Super, which reveals that there's 12 universes, each have two Gods, and they can easily be killed by someone strong enough or by an overall ruler with the mind of a child.
Or Soul Eater, where Death is a good guy.

Exactly what I was thinking.

It's like way back when this started, I brought up Vic's Scott McNeil story where he basically tut-tuted Scott for being pervy with girls even though it wasn't in the same universe to what he's done.

Honestly, as far as the topic of this thread is concerned, I have to admit that I still don't think that's relevant enough to be the smoking gun on Chuck Huber. Vic's behaviour was enabled for years by people within Funimation and the convention circuit, which Chuck Huber might have been a part of. That's personally what I'm concerned with with regards to Huber. While him running an ultraconservative school is absolutely bizarre, I don't think it in itself gives us any more concrete idea about his relationship with Vic and his abuse than it did before.

It was already known that he had wacky beliefs (flat earth theory isn't a traditional Catholic belief), it was already known that he was a religious guy which might have led to him being sympathetic to Vic. But if the optimistic read of the situation was that he was a naive guy who ended up taking an atrocious position in order to be the middleman, I don't think this particular information provides anything that kills that reading.

Although with his proximity to Vic, I think this school of his is more concerning to me because it's a position of power that could potentially be abused. Like, his treatment of the teacher deserves criticism in and of itself.

Yeah that's the thing. Huber is a gigantic asshole, but he's not doing anything worth termination.
He's not touching teenagers or being a creepy sex perv like Vic.

Well, I don't want to write that off, either. I still think it's possible that he's more of an enabler than we've been told so far. But I don't think we know he did that from this story.

To clarify, I agree the potential power abuse is more concerning -- I came across the Harry Potter anecdote on Kanzenshuu and given Huber's involvement has been a hot topic, I thought both stories were worth sharing given how out there they were.

At the very least, I'm not interested in a Cancel Huber campaign or anything of that nature; even if his middleman antics were ill-advised at best, I'd prefer to leave that ball in FUNi's court given they have far more pressing matters with Vic's nonsense.

Both Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi needs to be applauded for going public to give women and girls who were assaulted by Vic a voice amid all the awful shit they're being put through by Vic fans:

On Feb. 19, Rial tweeted a lengthy post in which she alleged that Vic grabbed her in a hotel room and forcibly kissed her without her consent at an anime convention in 2007.

Rial said that she decided to go public with her account of Mignogna's actions "to put a face to the voices."

"There were so many stories out there, but because they were these faceless voices on the internet, nobody wanted to believe them," Rial said in an interview with The Dallas Morning News on July 24.

Rial, who has lived in the Dallas area for about a decade, and Marchi, a North Texas resident for 15 years, talked in the July 24 interview about the relentless harassment from Mignogna's fans. Marchi said, "It's been really hard. But I would do it again."

"The greater good was way more important than either one of us in this," she said. "I'm standing up for so many women and victims who feel like they can't say anything."

Rial and Marchi each recounted examples of the backlash since they released their stories on social media: the posting of private information and harassment online and in phone calls, efforts to have the women fired or banned from fan events, and a barrage of death threats.

Marchi said that staff at conventions and studios tell her that they "are constantly getting harassing emails about us. Even our friends or colleagues we've simply done a panel discussion with — they are doxing those people and making it very known ... that they will get the same treatment we are."

Doxing refers to the online posting of personal information, such as home addresses and photos of residences and vehicles. Lemoine said Mignogna's online supporters are using this tactic "in a transparent attempt to intimidate witnesses in this war against two women."

Rial's allegations about the verbal abuse against her in the past six months were similar to Marchi's, and she, too, was steadfast about her actions.

"With everything I've been through — the death threats, the hatred, the trying to ruin my career, trying to get me fired because I came out and told the truth," Rial said. "That is worth it if it saves one woman, one girl from having to deal with this kind of situation again."

Both women also said they were thankful to be in this together. "We know this is going to be awful and who knows how long it's going to be this awful," Rial said. "But as long as we've got each other, and we're standing together strong, let's get the truth out there."

That's one of the worst parts in all of this, not only you come forward with something that most likely makes you uncomfortable to talk about (I haven't met or seen someone who is comfortable talking about being sexually harassed) but in their case they have to deal with unhinged shitstains doing a bunch of terrible things to them, their family and friends thinking they are defending the honor of their rapist idol. Just awful.

If you thought Vic might've reflected even somewhat on this whole ordeal, bad news. If anything, he seems even more high on his own bullshit.

I always enjoy -- and by that, I mean "furiously pound my head into my desk " -- whenever he or some random idiot downplays his predatory antics as "just hugs."

Just tried it myself, and that does indeed pop up as second search result:

Yes Vic, those kids need you to hug and kiss them. Just like the women you've sexually harassed. You were doing them all a favor by pulling their hair and forcing yourself on them.

I think I threw up I my mouth a little when the one guy called him "king".

Wow I can't believe the people who don't want to be touched by you without consent "ends up ruining it for everybody." And "isn't that sad?"

"And you know what there are so many more of us, do you realize? There are so many more good people in the world than there are the offended, outraged." Yeah, a made up 300 people in a city of 8 million bothered to come see you in the middle of a (very small) con weekend, you really are winning the numbers game along with healing every single touch starved person, thank you so much king.

It's funny that he seemed to realize halfway through after hugging a woman as a part of his demonstration that he should also touch a man... with a hand just barely on his shoulder. You're really demonstrating how this is all about human contact, Vic, and not at all sexualized by you in any way, which is why you treat men and women exactly the same.

If Vic Mignogna was the type of person who would reflect and change his ways, he would have done in years ago. We know he's mocked the idea of consent, deliberately undermined efforts to keep him away from women, and gotten passive aggressive to women who have gotten away from him before. His pattern of behaviour is extremely well established and so it's easy to make inferences from it. The only thing that's shocking to Vic is that he's actually facing some kind of consequence for his actions.

Also, this is pretty much the most white priviledge thing right here. Whining about how the world is becoming more "angry" as the news is exploding with reports of acts of violence from white nationalists, while taking life lessons from a sappy movie he saw in an aeroplane.

In case anyone didn't want to watch the video, some brave soul took the time to provide a transcript. I'll just leave these quotes here:

She said something to the effect of, "Studies, actual studies have shown that children, especially babies and children, need human contact as much as they need air." So here's what I've been contemplating lately. Human contact is being vilified.

And uh, I really think that our culture has changed, and not for the better. I think people need that human contact, like that movie said-- I think it's valuable to us as oxygen.

The only person who is "vilifying" human contact is Vic, using seemingly "innocuous" hugs as excuses to repeatedly grope young girls. There are plenty, plenty! Of voice actors who have respectably hugged fans, with said fans consent, and kept their hands to their damn selves.

God, even the thumbnail is skeevy. Vic's totally the kind of dude that hugs a girl just to make breast contact without realizing that you're supposed to grow out of that mentality in high school.

There is one detail I'm curious about, although I haven't really formed that into a question.

Vic mentions in this spiel that he's a touchy-feely Italian. Now, to be clear, the point he's using this for is pure crap in that he's trying to reframe his abuse as just normal social behaviour, just hugs and all that, and we've gotten multiple accounts from women who have every reason not to speak up saying that's not what it was.

His Italian heritage, though, I think he's always been proud of. His e-mail address on his website is - excuse me for this - "Victhewop", and there's some junk you buy on his store that has a song called "Italian Boys" which he apparently sings with his grandmother.

I mentioned that I have a non-blood relative who turned out to be a big Vic stan. Of course, he's Italian. And of course, he told me the "just hugs" line. But there are a bunch of Italians in the area and I know a few who are, in fact, very big on hugs and such.

So, I'm not sure how to make this a question. I guess I'm just wondering if there's a notable connection here. Like, is this an argument that's being shopped to Vic supporters? That he's being persecuted for acting like an Italian or something?

Not to comment much on this, but that movie being quoted, Five Feet Apart, the guy who directed it would probably be mortified that it was referenced in this context. Justin Baldoni is an insanely woke man.

Anyway, I'll continue to lurk and laugh at this dude's legal issues. I'm sorry for all the women he hurt, but at least this has been a really hilarious legal schadenfreude.

It was one of the earliest excuses they had for him. Thing is. Italians have a bit of a machismo-personality which isn't really a positive thing. But the italians i know, don't act like Vic and more important.

Vic isn't italian.
He's never really been to italy.

He's an american digging into his italian heritage to sound more interesting and to have an excuse.

Being of Italian heritage also doesn't excuse his other actions even if it did excuse the hugging.

Like I said already: he demonstrates that he's just a touchy feely guy by hugging a woman and putting a hand on the shoulder of a man. If the contact isn't at all sexual, why wouldn't he hug the man too?

Oh hey, guess what you can find online.

Grabbed the ones that seemed most Freudian. I feel like maybe these deserve a warning considering who's singing though, love songs don't read as well when they come from this guy's mouth.

What a crime, such a beautiful crime
That God would make a star as bright as I
And I know it's a disgrace to admire this perfect face
Reflected in your eyes
So it's right that I suffer tonight
All the pain of all the passion inside
But my heart can not deny what I'm feeling inside
That makes me long for you
Guilty, Beauty, Love

Take my hand, take the key
You can open the door
Take a step, take a chance
Now you'll find there's so much more
There's a world you dreamed of and if you'll allow
Let me escort you there

I kneel before you, kiss your hand to
Tell you I'm a lucky guy
Look back and know that I can heal your tired heart

What a crime, such a breath-taking crime
Everything I touch can't help but fall in love
In this cruel romantic game, there's no way that you're to blame
For your stolen heart
So I'll say that the price I must pay
Is to want her in my heart forever
Just don't take away your touch 'cause it means so much
To feel your hand in mine
Guilty, Beauty, Love

In the sky, you and I
Are floating in space
By the moon, near the sun
Locked in beautiful embrace
Heavenly bodies come together so blindingly bright
They chase away the night

What I bring you, I hope delights you
A bouquet of passion, Cutie Lady
Be sure that here with me you'll always save the day

What a crime, such a wonderful crime
That God would choose to make such looks as mine
It was wrong but all the same, I invited and you came
Into this dream with me
So my price is to gaze in your eyes
And to feel more love than I can contain
Even so, it's fair to say, I still found a way
To cast my spell on you
Guilty, Beauty, Love
Hello my beautiful
It seems I just can't stay away
It's been so very long

That I've felt anything this strong

You hold my heart the way you did an hour ago
I've said all I can say and yet I must be sure you know

[Chorus]
That I love love love you
I need need need you
I long long long to hold you in my arms again
I'm so so sad to
Ever hurt hurt hurt you
I'm more afraid of losing you than anything before

(heeeeey yey yeah oh...)
(Ooo-oh oh)

[Chorus]
I love love love you
I need need need you
I long long long to hold you in my arms again
I'm so so sad to
Ever hurt hurt hurt you
I'm more afraid of losing you than anything before
Please can I have one more... hello
[talking]
Grandma: Okay, my lil Victor, I'm so glad you're here! How's come you so skinny? Don't you like Grandma's pasta fazole? Spaghetti? Meatballs? Come on Victor, manja, you get big!

In1967
It was told to me (Grandma: I want you to be a strong boy when you get big!)
That I'm an honored member of the greatest nationality
(his Grandma said)
[talking]
Grandma: Tu bei lineamenti Italiano, [probrother?] gene. Lavoro lavare, portare nama nigase
I never learned the language
But translated she said

[chorus]
Italian boys!
They've got the looks
They've got the smarts
Italian boys!
They know romance
They've got sensitive hearts
Italian boys!
And can they cook
Let me lay something on ya
Nobody makes any better lasagna
Eat some pizza
Make some noise
And be proud that you are one of the Italian boys

[talking]
Grandma: Come on, open up, open up, Victor! Open up, 'at a boy, Victor!

She would cook the pasta
I would stir the sauce (Grandma: You're gonna remember Grandma Mignogna, what's Grandma tells you)
Get the homemade dressing
Don't forget there's salad yet to toss
(his Grandma said)
[talking]
Grandma: You know, Victor? Dandy mea Italia, ariva qui dei cent'anni. Evacuazione tu a Americano nonché bone bien!
I carry on the family name
So she makes sure I know

[chorus]
Italian boys!
They love to sculpt
And painting's a cinch
Italian boys!
Let's not forget "Leonardo DaVinch"!
Italian boys!
We name our kids Dominic and Malfisa
My Grandma looks just like the Mona Lisa (Grandma laughs)
I share the pride
And pride the joy
Of being what I am: an Italian boy

[talking]
Grandma: Victor, Grandma loves you so much. Someday, I want you to be a big man, I want you to write a song just for me. (Vic chuckles) And then when Grandma's dead and gone, you can play that song for people who's comin after me, okay, Victor?
Vic: (laugh) Okay.
Grandma: (this is an Italian line,.it ends with "cu bella del mondo")
Vic: Okay, Grandma, Grandma, I gotta finish the song.
Grandma: That's right!

[chorus]
Italian boys!
When we unite the whole family
Italian boys!
I got more cousins than the eye can see
Italian boys!
America, sing a thank you chorus
To Chris Columbus
He discovered it for us
We got the style
We got the poise
We've got to fill the world with more Italian boys

[talking]
Grandma: And Victor, I'm glad you are half-Italian, because you do have a little bit of Dego blood in you and you are adorable! (Vic laughs) You a little boy now but when you get big, Grandma still give you a big chunk of chocolate! (both laugh) You love that chunk of chocolate?
Vic: (laughing) Oh yes, yes.
Grandma: You know what your momma did one time?
Vic: No no, tell me, tell me.
Grandma: She went out with your dad and she left you over my house. It was a summertime, and this is a the truth,(trails off)
Would they call us fools
Surrounding the love we made
Did we make the right moves
Watching the games we played
Were we losers or winners
Call us beginners
Always thought we were alone (echoed)
We've been watched (echoed)
Who could have known (echoed)

[chorus]
If these walls could talk (ooooh, if these walls could talk, what would they be sayin'?)
(what would they be sayin'?)
If these walls could talk (ooooh, if these walls could talk, what would they be sayin'?)
(what would they be sayin'?)
Maybe they're the only ones (echoed)
(witnesses, done) Witnesses to what's been done here
Maybe someone's heart
Should be taking a walk
(maybe we would know)
And maybe we would know
If these walls could talk

A motionless square
Echoes the way we beat
Eavesdroppers, they're closing around the heat
Either silence or crying
Something is dying
Did we mean all that we said (echoed)
Can we love outside the bed (echoed)

[chorus]
If these walls could talk (ooooh, if these walls could talk, what would they be sayin'?)
(what would they be sayin'?)
If these walls could talk (ooooh, if these walls could talk, what would they be sayin'?)
(what would they be sayin'?)
Maybe they're the only ones (echoed)
(witnesses, done) Witnesses to what's been done here
Maybe someone's heart
Should be taking a walk
(maybe we would know)
And maybe we would know

Did we mean all that we said (echoed)
Can we love outside the bed (echoed)

[chorus]

(what would they be sayin'?)
Maybe they're the only ones (echoed)
Witnesses to what's been done here (echoed)
Maybe someone's heart
Should be taking a walk
And maybe we would know (ooh, maybe we would know)
If these walls could talk
Know if these walls could talk
Maybe we would know
Maybe we would finally know
We'd know [3 x]
Maybe we would know
Finally know [2 x]
I know it's late too
But I've really missed you
I'd stand here through the night
If it would change your mind
You feel uncertain
You reach for the curtain
Ask me to check my watch
And let you know the time
I say

[chorus]
It's time to trust again
Let me say
It's not a moment too soon
Honey, you must again
I've been running away from it too
But maybe it's time

You've come so far now
But don't stop where you are now
One step in my direction
Might be all you need

[chorus]
It's time to trust again
Let me say
It's not a moment too soon
Honey, you must again
I've been running away from it too
I just don't wanna see this
Come to an end
Please believe me, oooh

[chorus]
It's time to trust again
Let me say
It's not a moment too soon
Honey, you must again
I've been running away from it too
But maybe it's time
Maybe it's time
Haunted by the past,
A nightmare that seems so unreal.
Wish that I could turn back time,
And spare the pain that we both feel.
And now, we've changed,
Things will never be the same.
(Things will never be the same)

We were foolish then,
But our trials served to make us strong.
The burdens are not yours alone,
We've sought the answers for so long.
But they're not free.
They cost you more than they cost me.
(My brother)

Chorus:
I promise you,
There is nothing I won't give,
To see this through,
Return the soul to where it lives.
I promise you,
I'd go everywhere I've been,
To find a way,
To make atonement for my sin.
And see...
See your smiling face again.

When we pay the price at last,
And we are whole once more,
Life will be the way it was,
The way it was before the day,
She slipped away,
Together we'll redeem that day.

Chorus

(I promise)
(I promise)
(I promise)

Chorus

(Edited, thanks Labyrinthine)
[Chorus]
Soldier A, Soldier A
The unsung hero of anime
Hip hooray for Soldier A
He only has one line but saves the day

He's called upon to grunt or yell or scream (OOOugh, ugh, aaah, oh boy)
Even if his mouth is never seen (AAH)
Through the fray with ne'er to say
He'll lead the way, he's Soldier A

I'm Soldier A (he's Soldier A)
Never Soldier B (never Soldier B)
They tell me if I'm good, I'll be Bystander 3
(they tell him if he's good he'll be Bystander 3)
I have the folly every volume needs (augh, AAH)
But I'll never be mistaken for a lead (no way!)

[Chorus]
Soldier A (UGH), Soldier A (he's Soldier A!)
The unsung hero of anime (oy, augh, oh)
Hip hooray for Soldier A
He only has one line but saves the day (woohoo! Yessir!)

A monster or a mecha or a guy
Doesn't matter which I'm gonna die (aaaaaah, Ooo)
Never know what role I'll play
But for today, I'm Soldier A (1, 2, 3, 4!)
(Rum…rum)

Today I threw a fit (today he threw a fit)
Cause I didn't get the bit
Part I wanted to do

Instead of Fanboy 1, I was Sex Offender 2
(Guh, instead of Fanboy 1, he was Sex Offender 2, oh that's nice!)
The engineer is changing episodes (changing episodes)
To find the one where I'm beside the bomb (boooomb)
When it explodes (AAAH, UUUUH)

[Chorus]
Soldier A, Soldier A
The unsung hero of anime
Hip hooray for Soldier A
He only has one line but saves the day (Huh, hah!)

He's courageous, brave, and dangerously strong (Hoohah, hahaha! Whoo!)
But he won't be around for very long (Ah, aaah!)
Cause his platoon gets blown away (ooo, aaauuuugh)
So let us pray for Soldier A

The tracks are getting dense (Oooo, getting dense)
The Walla is intense (Oooo, so intense)
The director says it's time for my dying to commence
(well, this is where your character dies with pain and suffering, now let's try one)
My death rattle simply was sublime (Uh, uuuugh, kah)
But the engineer blew it so I'll have to do it…One. More. Time! (WAAAAH)

[Chorus]
Soldier A, Soldier A
The unsung hero of anime
Hip hooray for Soldier A (*sobsobsob*)
He only has one line but saves the day

He's called upon to grunt or yell or scream (Augh, ugh, aaah, oooo)
Even if his mouth is never seen (hoo, yeow!)
Through the fray he'll lead the way
So let us pray for
Will he ever say more? (huhu, haha!)
Hip hip hooray for Soldier A (Ooo, yeah!)

Correct me if I'm wrong but i believe actual Italian men in Italy customarily kiss and hug other men as a greeting too. Does Vic ever do that?

On top of that warm greetings like that are for friends and family not strangers and young children who are strangers.

If you thought Vic might've reflected even somewhat on this whole ordeal, bad news. If anything, he seems even more high on his own bullshit.

UGHHH. I didn't even need sound to know exactly what tone of voice Vic was using. It's the exact same attitude he had YEARS ago when he held an entire panel at some convention to defend himself against """accusations""". I wonder if it's still on YouTube; it's gotta be impossible to find now that searching "Vic Mignogna defense" probably returns nothing but stuff from this trial...

I actually thought for a hot second that Vic was trying to be smart and shut his yap while the trial was going on. But of course there is a sermon about how the world is at fault for him being a disgusting human being.

Can't stand his voice for long enough to see that entire video, but holy shit at the transcript. And it is not even "him" referencing these studies of needing hugs. It is a voiceover in a movie. Because of course it is.

I'll tell you; I was working (in an extremely casual small business atmosphere, mind) with an Italian friend who told me that she was more comfortable with hugs than handshakes and tried to negotiate a deal where I got to have handshakes some of the time and she got to have hugs some of the time.

Now, I thought this was a hilariously absurd conversation, but I think it goes to show that you can be a touchy feely person and also be mindful of others. She wanted to upgrade to hugs, but was absolutely not willing to do so unless I was comfortable with the arrangement.

Hell no, that would be gay, and gayness is dark and evil as commanded by his Lord and Savior (who never actually said anything of the sort, but whatever).

Unlike that time he tried to pressure two young twin girls into having gay incest sex with each other, and when they refused he grabbed their heads and forcefully kissed them on the lips against their will.

"It's just hugging!"
