I live in a giant bucket.
Not sure if anyone posted this yet but it's hillarious. The discussion of conspiracy made me remember it.

Straight fire just like her daughter; I love it.

For reference, about a decade or so ago when Funimation was first getting into streaming, they accidentally leaked a One Piece episode ahead of it's Japanese broadcast. If Funimation could repair their relationship with Toei from that grave of a mistake, I doubt they're really going to give two shits from Funimation sacking one of their voice talents.

Oh man, I forgot about that! Yeah, that's a great point.

Stan Dahlin, founder of KawaiiCon, just implicitly tried to target harassment at Jamie Marchi (whose cases from Vic were entirely dismissed) or tried to raise boycott concerns. I am... doubtful of the intention for the latter and think he's all too willing to support the former. Mike Dunford took a screencap of his tweet that goes "wink wink nudge nudge".

Couple of Vicstans in that thread already crying about "publicly available information" and reporting accounts for false reporting, all the usual shit.

Funi cutting ties with Vic wouldn't have caused any concern for them whatsoever. That's business, and talent in Japan get released/blacklisted due to scandals from time to time as well. It's the subsequent embarrassing lawsuit and highly public mud-slinging that would have potentially caused them to raise their heads. But even then, Sony was probably on the phone like "we got this".

Yeah I believe Funimation briefly lost the streaming rights over that error but they managed to mend bridges. It's why something like Vic getting replaced in DB and OP is really small potatoes in comparison.

For few months really. I remember that incident. That and Toei was so protective of One Piece after 4Kids that they chose the voices for the Straw Hats. So if they gave them the rights to their latest movie, no bridge has been burn.

I remember one VA from One Piece got sacked for showing his butt in public. So Funi sacking someone accused of sexual harassment should be okay with them.

I think they would only show concern if Sean and Sabat got toss since they're main characters.

Incoming lawsuit: "your honour, Vic isn't a literal penis or an asshole. He has a penis and an asshole but as a whole he is a regular man, not a penis or an asshole. You see, "dick" can mean a penis or asshole in some contexts, and clearly he isn't literally a penis or an asshole."

"Dick", as in the chinpo of an otoko no hito

Which is actually odd, because there are young guys who have been in solo porn (meant for a gay audience) and are still getting roles. One has been repeatedly been brought back to Kamen Rider repeatedly despite his appearance in them when he was 18.
...Showing your butt in public is not really comparable to starring in porn.

Did Stan Dahlin already have a suspicious history? I know Anime Matsuri has a known sexual predator at the helm, and that's seemingly the mst significant one for Vic - it's mentioned as one he favours over bigger cons because he has more control, he's listed it as the one he's made the most money off this year, and it actively supports him instead of dropping him.

Who?

I assume this person is terrible by default since they're on that side of things, but curious who they are specifically, and if it's just a rando, and don't bother in knowing. I mean, the same may still be true even if they weren't a completely rando, but you know, curiosity!

He owns (owned?) Izumicon and had an affidavit basically saying "if Vic did anything questionable I would have remembered it and I don't."

Last I heard sucking dick & showing your ass in porn is pretty public and probably more damning than just showing your ass.

Stan's a fucking dirt bag who lied his ass off in his affidavit so his own shit didn't come out.

If Funimation was able to keep their relationship with Toei after the One Piece simulcast leak, then cutting ties with Vic is nothing.
Hell it's not the first time they cut ties with a predatory voice actor that had a role in One Piece. Scott Freeman and Illich Guardiola both had roles, and Funimation has severed ties with them after they got caught doing predatory shit.

On Ivankov's original Japanese VA, it wasn't just showing his butt. He had tattoos in the photos, and tattoos are kind of seen as taboo in Japan. At least that's what I've heard. It kind shows the major dissonance between the two nations. Like how a big star getting caught with CP in America destroys your career (most of the time) but in Japan it's a slap on the wrist (hopefully that changes). Where as getting caught with cocaine in America leads to rehab, but in Japan it's complete scorched fucking Earth.

Hold up. Had this tab open and have no idea who posted it. What the hell was happening here:

Chuck "the anime and scientific establishment is trying to destroy me" Huber was upsetting Vic and pissing off his makeup artist? There's no part of this I understand. What did Huber think he was doing, why is the makeup artist upset, what's the takeaway here?

Based on two pictures of the panel(s), Weaver, Ijima, and Mignogna, were at, I think they changed seats at least once. It's possible they started off with him in the middle and then changed around.

I read this as Huber following the one livetweet thread documenting the hearing and chewing out Vic, although I dunno why he'd give any emails to Greg.

From what I understand, one (Huber?) was reading the livetweets to Vic's "whisperer" (the makeup artist?) to keep Vic up to date with what was going on, silliness ensues.

I mean, does him reading the tweets to Vic mean anything significant?
How I understand it, Chuck was reading live-tweets from the hearing to Vic who got upset when he realized how much they screwed up the case, so they had to calm him down by "explaining" what "really" happened and that he is "still going to win".

This is just my interpretation though.

So, lets say Vic had some kind of deal with Nick and Ty, where they told him they would fund the whole thing with the gofundme money without him paying anything. But since there are rumors that that money is about to run out, then Vic would be the one who has to pay the fees and damages from his own pocket, right?
Because to me it feels like he doesn't realize that yet. He seems really uninvolved in the whole thing.

Also, wouldn't it be fun if they only had a vocal contract about this whole matter and suddenly everyone disagrees about what it entailed and no proof of its contents could be produced...

I think there were also previous discussions where even if there was still money in the GFM, that there was a real possibility that Vic wouldn't have been able to access the funds when it came time to pay for fees/sanctions. The lawyer bills the IOLTA? and so on. Vic isn't able to touch or bill it. I think Nick was the one to say on a stream that there's no money left? (Probably because Ty Beard billed what he could)

I guarantee you that's what happened. They convinced him it was gonna be a slam dunk. Instead, it's McNugget who's getting dunked.

Apparently the algorithm for false flag reporting is really easy to abuse to silence people. Like if a person denied Greg's appeal, the only reason I can think of is that they felt someone is rightfully offended for being called a hoe?

I once reported someone for randomly saying something hateful and racist in a reply to one of my tweets. They deliberately went to search for tweets about Japan and decided to reply to me. I reported the tweet for being racist, twitter support did nothing. Their entire twitter account was full of hateful racist and sexist tweets in Korean. It was only when my friends and I reported every single harmful tweet that they did something months later.

Edit: I'm not really sure about the validity of Ty being the one handling Nick's trust funds.

There was a Pokémon movie short (the Pikachu short that played before the third movie) that Japan has dropped completely from re-releases because the VA for the narrator was charged with drug use. A short from almost twenty years ago.

I'm not sure what Vicstans think would happen if this actually came to Toei's attention (I would think it's beneath their notice). Funi would just say they let go one of their voice talents because he was sexually assaulting their other voice talents and they would go about their business. Why would they trust Vic over Funi? They've been in business with Funimation for 25 years now and they've done fine with the DB license. Fukunaga's uncle worked at Toei, that's how he got the rights to Dragon Ball in the first place.

Kind of speaks to the lunacy of the "VIC WAS MY CHILDHOOD" crowd too. Broly was your childhood? Not Goku, Vegeta, Krillin etc whose voice actors are backing the accusers up on?

Like, I feel all of this is sort of besides the point anyway, but it's just all so dumb.
