Dante, DMC5.
The creeper face, bad hair, the nose and mouth. Actually, most of the character designs in DMC5 are off-putting.
not sure that i'm following you...
It boggles my mind how I could really love Naomi as a character in MGS1, yet somehow absolutely loathe her in MGS4.
Just seeing the pic you posted irrationally irritates me.
We talking FFVII Cloud or Advent children Cloud?
Because 7 Cloud was cool and entertaining.
First, sure, there are lots of characters and enemies whose entire purpose is to annoy you--Medusa heads, the hand guys in Zelda, El Fuerte, and shit like that. This thread isn't about them.
I was playing Kingdom Hearts 3 recently and got to Twilight Town, and then as soon as I got there, out came Hayner, Pence, and the girl. And man, I can't stand them. I don't even know why. Maybe they just look real annoying, but I just tune the hell out whenever they're on screen.
Do you have this type of visceral displeasement with any characters for no real reason? With whom?
Please state the game and character. I have no idea who that is.
LMAO!! Well he's got the pizza pans on his elbows and pizza cutter to go along with it! Is he wearing soggy high heel shoes? This character is a mess.
Luso Clemens from Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Actually I don't mind him in the game, what bothers me is this particular artwork. I think my biggest grip is that the book around his leg (the eponymous Grimoire of the Rift) looks like some pizza.
Nah, I agree with you. She's annoying. I don't like how the others characters treat her as some sort of leader when she doesn't do shit half the time. A slick design is all she has.Gonna get some crap for this buuuuuttttt.
Makoto from Persona 5 bugs me. She's not a terrible character by any means but I just don't like her or understand her massive fandom.
That feeling when your party member's persona upgrades...
I mean there is a reason, but it's pretty much just how I read their lines vs. how they're intended to be read so I'm still counting it.
Did you make them give you a mean nickname?I mean there is a reason, but it's pretty much just how I read their lines vs. how they're intended to be read so I'm still counting it.
I feel like he gets a lot of hate for little reason.Thought of another one. Shuichi from Danganronpa V3.
I hate him for reasons that have nothing to do with his actual personality or actions.
It's not remotely fair to his character but I still hate him.
lmao, nah, they just come off as annoyingly insecure and conceited to me. Like they assume because they've got the bare bones basics of Pokemon down from having trainer parents, that they'll be the best at battling out of all of us. Then, when they lose they keep pushing the envelope and basically don't let any of the other 'rivals' even get a word in. Topping it all off, (and this is more ludonarrative dissonance from how piss-easy X/Y is,) they always act like they had even a fraction of a chance after you thoroughly stomp them REPEATEDLY throughout the game. They just kinda come off as an asshole who doesn't know how to admit they're not the best at something.
I feel like he gets a lot of hate for little reason.
If this is because of Kaede, really she wouldnt have been as good as she was unless the 1st twist happened. Kaede was a more tolerable "hope" trope in the vein of Makoto, Shuichi was a much more dynamic character, better than the other main ones in the series imo
I said it wasn't fair didn't I? He'll forever be the symbol of what made me drop this franchise regardless of his actual character.
I know it's not logical but I just won't like him.
I agree the cast of 7 wasn't very likable for me. I liked red xiii and tifa mostly and that's it. Same problem I have with final fantasy 8 and chrono cross. I don't like 90% of the main cast in ff8 and most of the characters in cc were boring or obnoxious with a few standouts. Throw xenoblade 2 in as well where I disliked most of the main characters for what little I played so I just dropped it.FF7 Cloud. Coming off the characters in Chrono Trigger and FFVI, I thought most of the playables in FVII were a bit of a drag. Cloud isn't the WORST of them, but I think he's the most disappointing since he's the main character. I always thought he was just... boring? Bland? Mostly reactive? I don't know how to describe it and it's been a long time since I've played through the game. But I recall feeling at the time that he was a character around which events happened, and that he wasn't driving the action much at all.
ehh, I still think everyone being as upset as they were just showed how good writing it had in that space and they knew when to cut it off. If they didnt do it, they would have to rewrite her whole character to be beyond that hope note, she worked because they showed restraint and pretty much made her a reverse of Junko. I honestly dont think people would love her like they do if she had gone through because she would literally be Makoto whom most people dont really like all that much apparently, though I guess we will never know
I get why people got mad, but really that just shows how good it was
"Everyone being upset shows it's good writing" sure is a hot take.ehh, I still think everyone being as upset as they were just showed how good writing it had in that space and they knew when to cut it off. I was referring that they were written well to the character, not really the situation. I dont think there was any denying people were attached to the character for one reason or another"Everyone being upset shows it's good writing" sure is a hot take.
Ya, I mean I understand it, I just think a lot of it is the surrounding context than the characters themselves.Well first off I like Makoto(funny to say considering my first post in this thread).
Second I was more upset that a female protagonist got replaced by a dude. Had Saihara been a woman I wouldn't be upset.
Third I don't consider something that makes me drop a series I used to like "good" but I admit that almost all my personal hang ups.
Hayner is easy to remember because they always say his name first, and Pence is easy to remember because he shares a name with the burning bag of shit left on the White House stoop. I've already tuned out by the time they say Olette.I'm perplexed you actually remembered and spelled all their names perfectly except for Olette. It's like, they are always mentioned together, you can't really memorize them by themselves lmao.
godsh I will give you that Morag and her little brother interact totally normal in the gameI criticize Xenoblade 2 all the time, but I at least beat the game. What you're talking about is completely off base. There is nothing between Morag and her little brother. In fact, Morag is treated pretty respectfully 95% of the time and isn't objectified or sexualized in any way through the entirety of the game. There are no implications between her and her little brother. Absolutely none. You're reading into things that are just not there. Hate on the art style all you want, but don't make false claims about implications that don't exist.
Edit: Aw shit you're a troll aren't you? Guess you zinged me.
godsh I will give you that Morag and her little brother interact totally normal in the game
But I think Morag the mighty lady is under no one's command but a little boy is up to satisfy some sick fetish.
"Oh hey, though you are mighty and cool, nevertheless you must listen to me, a little boy, because I am not just your sibling but your emperor, wahahah"
I feel this kind of character design and relationship is up to something sick
You may call me toxic to think that way. But hey this is the thread hating characters for no reason.
Cheerful girl protagonist is a better protag than anything shuichi gave off on archetype and design aloneI feel like he gets a lot of hate for little reason.

Hinata atleast had some asshole snark in him, and Naegi atleast was an adorable constant hopeful little shit which is still pretty rare.Okay, I remembered one I hate irrationally:
Shuichi Saihara from Danganronpa V3
His actual character is blah, but that's not that much of a problem, generally speaking the franchise hasn't been known for the best protagonists before V3 anyway. That said, uh... well I guess if you've played the game you know why.
Cheerful girl protagonist is better than anything shuichi gave off on archetype and design alone
shitty edgy designed boys suck
His character arc is from Boring to Boring In A Different Way. It's cliched and rote, but even more so for a protagonist 3 games into Danganronpa.Honestly hes the best of the bunch imo. Makoto was one note hope, Hajime was ultimately just a twist with nothing else, Shuichi was an entire character arc
Also you may want to watch the spoilers

and yes im avoiding actually saying the spoiler, dw
Oh hey do you kiss your mama with that mouth?
Yeah, especially with her hilariously godawful voice acting.botw zelda has to be one of the worst iterations of her. She does basically nothing but complain and is so needlessly flippant.
I thought pretty all of the characters in BotW were just dumb anime tropes, really.
