Fuck the police. I can't imagine the hardship that African Americans face every day knowing that some dipshit power tripping fucking pig could straight up murder you in broad daylight with little chance of ever seeing consequences for their actions.

I can't imagine how frustrated those bystanders were when the second cop will barely even look at the guy and ignores their pleading (and arguably is being antagonistic toward them). I'm sure there were a couple of them that badly wanted to tackle the first cop to try to save the man's life.

These cops should have to get up in front of society and explain exactly what they were thinking like they're 5-year olds. Because I'm pretty much seeing two outcomes: 1) they wanted to kill him, or 2) they just don't care and have lost their humanity. Either of which should absolutely disqualify them from further police work.

The current police chief was put in place fairly recently (2017) because they purged the previous one after previous incidents. I don't think he's a paragon or anything, but there was quite a bit of pushback during his nomination because he had "ratted" on other cops and not held the line.

I think Frey and the Police Chief need pressure for sure. I don't think they should quit, they have been continually vocal and doing a lot to drop the hammer where they can.

Like, at this point I will take just an old fashioned police brutality ass whupping where it's just a few broken bones.

It's like, how hard can it be not to murder someone in day to day policing? This wasn't a crazy shootout, it wasn't a case of the cops not knowing what was happening since in addition to the victim ("he might have been lying") you hear an off the clock EMS worker admonishing and asking to see the now limp victim.

The bar is so so so low, but we can't even hit that as a mark. Like, just don't murder us. Can we achieve that?

Yeah that looks really bad. Don't know why the officers didn't get off the guys neck, like come on man.. Should be trained way better than to do something like that for so long. Definitely looks like murder. I'd expect protests but there's still a virus concern.. Wonder what will happen and what the officer will say.

It's insanely fucked up that people have an acronym for this all cops are bad shit. Every day there's new terrible stories about the authorities in the US. It's disturbing from an outsiders perspective (I'm Aussie) where cops are some of the most friendly, helpful and respectable people I know. I feel for you in the US.

It's quite telling when i see this type of news i immediately think: "white cop on black man" and it's always correct. This is what people refer to when they talk about the rampant radcism in US.

I mean,it's the fucking cops, they're supposed to protect every citizen, black, white, latino it doesn't matter, but here they are straight murdering a poor guy in the middle of the street, even with people warning the cop that they guy wasn't well. Being black in the US is like having a fucking target on your back and that is the sad reality.

I just wanted to offer a bit more context for the situation in Minneapolis if you weren't from here. Frey has been pretty vocal, now it's time to see if he follows through. We've had two big profile shootings the last 5 years or so. The murder of Philando, where the officer got off and the murder of Justine (a white Australian woman) by a black officer, he was convicted. Both should have been convicted - but you know, racism. Our Mayor is fairly new on the block and he wasn't Mayor when Philando was killed. I'm hopeful, but not optimistic that this will be dealt with better.

I cannot believe the amount of bullshit "protect their own" stuff that went on with the Justine Ruszczyk case. Pretty clear cut case, he panicked and shot her through the window, yet they had to get a grand jury to get the police to testify and make statements. Ridiculous.

No doubt part of the reason the guy kept his knee on him was that he wanted to defy anyone who dared to tell him what to do. That video was gross. These cops need to go to jail.

I didn’t know where else to say this, but I had seen a Fox News segment where a guy was talking against the lockdown. He said that police are going to have to start enforcing rules they don’t want to enforce. He goes on to say the cop who “restrained” (killed) Eric Garner didn’t want to restrain him for selling cigarettes, but he was just following rules. And the same may happen to people protesting lockdowns. It was disgusting. Using the death of a black man at the hands of power hungry cops to argue against a quarantine meant to save people.

I've been having neck pains for a couple days now (stress) and i cant even imagine just how painful having someone applying that much pressure to my spine is. He's resisting but man is telling you he cant breathe.
Idk why it escalated how it did, but if you're worried he's going to spit in your face, ya'll should be prepared with masks or something, dont just murder someone in cold blood because of that. Dude wasn't moving anymore and he was still holding him down. tf bro.

One of the most disturbing videos I have ever seen. I also feel sorry for the bystanders who knew exactly what was happening but couldn't step in to help him. Just crazy.

Edit - someone said earlier that he had his breathing restricted for 3 minutes. I'm pretty sure he has his knee on his neck for the whole 10 minute video and probably before filming started. A slow agonising death. Just horrible.

I wouldn't think that another Civil War would ever happen in the United States, but there's going to be a fuck ton of riots if this keeps happening. There's only so much that the country can take.

Black communities are already hit hardest by COVID-19. Black people are way more likely to be essential workers who can't shelter at home and in place. Why the fuck they gotta choose between protesting this shit that shouldn't fucking happen and not getting in a crowd with a pandemic going on? What the fuck.

Eliminate police unions. Make police subject to civilian review boards. Make police pay settlements from pension funds. Track fired officers and remove their ability to retain their peace officer status.
