Really? Series X VRR works fine with my samsung.Hmm according to RTings my 2019 Samsung has VRR but not HDMI 2.1 so I guess I'm out of luck.

VRR Support coming to all PS5 games this week
"
What game currently even needs this outside elder ring and Insomniacs games with the 40fps mode. Preety much all the ps5 games I've played have stable 60fps.
Horizon Forbidden West has a clear problem with IQ on performance mode, it has stable 60fps but all in all it's the roughest performance mode I've seen lately. I hope it will hugely benefit from VRR support with a dedicated mode closer to resolution's IQ.What game currently even needs this outside elder ring and Insomniacs games with the 40fps mode. I second this. I haven't bothered to play this as I was waiting for them to either add a 40fps mode(unlikely then but perhaps now) or a patch to clean up the performance mode which didn't happen.Horizon Forbidden West has a clear problem with IQ on performance mode, it has stable 60fps but all in all it's the roughest performance mode I've seen lately. Surprised GT7 and HZD aren't on the list, you'd think it would've been a priority
GT7 has incredibly rock solid 60FPS, only few frames are dropped at race starts in heavy storm weather in custom race mode. And those few drops are ironed out after few corners.I heard GT7 can get framey when driving in rain with multiple cars on screen? If that’s the case it would go a long way into cleaning that up.

I have the update working now. Only supports 48-120. So no unlocked frame rates for 40fps modes in insomniac games. But the performance modes do hit 70-80 fps. It's pretty great. Dirt 5 is buttery smooth now.

Nice, thanks for the heads up :)DIRT 5 is already updated, so once your PS5s get their console updates you can toggle VRR right away
It also supports 120fps (has since launch) so try that out if you haven't already.

VRR is up, it's a back-end update and not a firmware update, just turn on your PS5 connect it to PS5 and wait a bit for it to show up.
Just tried Ghostwire Tokyo and it runs perfectly with VRR now, i can't notice any framerate drops.

They said no support for VRR on PS4 games. Can you check whether it works for BC PS4 games as well? Well, not easy to test as most of them run at a smooth 60fps anyways.

Yep, seeing the options in the video settings page, cool. Hope someone can provide Elden Ring feedback, since I just uninstalled the game yesterday.
Performance ModeCool to hear about Ghostwire, is that on the performance mode or quality?

Samsung Q90R is TV from 2020, I really doubt it has HDMI 2.1I have samsungs Q90R with freesync premium 2. Seems to be working!
Maybe it also has the hdmi 2.1 VRR standard implementation but the TV doesn't make the distinction.
Anyway, I'm a quite thrilled over this now. Someone a few pages back said it wouldn't be compatible.
PS4 games don't get VRR, i just tried Dark Souls Remastered and YS 9.
Gran Turismo 7's PS5 SKU also doesn't get VRR but Ghostwire does so i don't know what's happening.
It's supposed to have gotten an update for hdmi 2.1 on HDMI port 4.Samsung Q90R is TV from 2020, I really doubt it has HDMI 2.1
Rtings says it has "HDMI Forum VRR" support.

Thanks for the confirmation! Did you test by looking whether your TV said it was getting a VRR signal?

I have a Samsung QN90A, PS5 is plugged on the HDMI 2.1 port, when a game has VRR when you launch the game the screen goes black for a few second to activate the feature and the input switches to "3840x2160 VRR".
