I've been trying to get this done for tomorrow, to take to my local store's birthday. Finally got it finished tonight. The base is really badly done but I'm planning on going back and tearing it apart to have a little away team of red shirtz/Evil Sunz on there.

Sanguinius with scenic base:
HHWeekender-Feb2-HHSanguiniusDioramaBase23hc.jpg

Rules for Sanguinius will be found in Malevolence – a thrilling new entry in the Horus Heresy campaign series that brings rules and lore for a number of fan-favourite characters and Legions.

This hotly anticipated tome takes you back into the dark world of the Horus Heresy, bringing the Blood Angels and White Scars into the fray as well as a sinister host of Traitors for them to battle.

Each of our Horus Heresy books so far has focused on specific factions in this way, bringing them to life with in-depth rules, lore and heraldry that allow you to imagine, collect and play with more diverse armies than ever before. Expect to see new champions, abilities, and unique units that truly reflect the martial character of these Legions.
HHWeekender-Feb2-HHMalevolence20tc.jpg

Even if you don't collect White Scars or Blood Angels, Malevolence is packed with new material that's of interest to any Horus Heresy fan, such as an exploration of the shadowy wars waged by the Alpha Legion on Chondax and a closer look at Daemonology during the Horus Heresy.
Malevolence would be huge if it was just about the Space Marine Legions – but it also sees Daemons enter the fray in full for the first time. We're talking full-scale incursions – tides of hellspawn pouring forth from open wounds in reality. On the tabletop, this means a full army list that lets you bring daemonic forces to the Horus Heresy – so if you've got a Daemon collection, you can now use them in three major games systems! Not bad, eh?
Space Wolves Deathsworn:
HHWeekender-Feb2-HHDeathsworn26lm.jpg

Deathsworn – a brutal Space Wolves unit made up of those for whom the then-nascent Curse of the Wulfen was more of a blessing…

Loving the Necro previews - may well dip in before my main expenditure on Sisters later in the year (please please please).

Also, names from the past... *crosses fingers for Krokodil*

NEW SQUAT! The original model must have sold really well, I'm excited for more Squats! Hopefully this is a sign from GW that we'll see more of them in the future!

So much cool shit out of this weekender, really exciting. Almost makes me wish I played 30k.

Brothers, the time has come. The circle is complete. Helsreach is done.

Shit, I may have to buy that book because of the Scars. How many hundreds of pounds is it going to cost?

Nurgle / Death Guard versus Sisters of Battle / Astra Militarum
Or how I lost and learned to not just throw lists together against the Imperium!
20190201_225039.jpg

I was fielding Rotigus and another, unnamed Great Unclean One, complimenting several squads of Plague Marines, a Rhino, some Nurglings, some Plaguebearers, Daemon Princes, Foul Blightspawns, and a single Hellforged Leviathan. Mostly melee, it is true, but the Levi packs a punch and, in theory, the rest is disgustingly resilient. Maybe I can get in?

The opponent had a large squad of Sisters, Celestine, a Canoness, a Repressor, a couple of their Nod flame tank ripoffs, the Hellhound, a ton of Guardsmen….and a Vigilus detachment, the Emperor's Wrath Artillery company. His had 3 Basilisks and two Wyverns. That meant one could use a stratagem for one weapon to fire twice (Basilisks!) and also increased the AP of his shells.
20190201_191434.jpg

The Chaos force's first mistake came almost immediately. The Leviathan opened fire on a Hellhound. The thought process was that the two hellhounds could rush and threaten the Leviathan and the Princes as they dashed forward….but more importantly, the Hellhounds were blocking part of the map to prevent the Great Unclean One and the Plague Bearers from exploding forth from the Warp and attacking the flank of the Imperial Guard and potentially rolling into the Basilisks. If a Hellhound died, the other one would advance, and maybe leave a hole….?

20190201_201430.jpg

The Hellhound did die to sustained Butcher Cannon Array fire, as did a Guard scout walker that had moved up to prevent the Rhino from blitzing down the city street. The walker and the Hellhound died, but a mistake in deployment allowed a squad of Nurglings to charge through a building and get into melee with the Repressor!

The Repressor had a cargo full of Sisters with Meltas, unfortunately, and they hopped out and tried to work their way around the Nurglings. They, along with ALL the Basilisks and Wyverns, buffed by Harker, Catachan regiment, Emperor's Wrath buffs, and an Act of Faith to help the melta shots (max range, luckily for me), tore into the Leviathan. It withstood an impressive amount of fire, but fall it did with 750 points of units shooting into it.

The Chaos force responded. The Hellhound death and movement of the second allowed the Plaguebearers to drop in and attack. The Great Unclean One had to join Rotigus in the street due to his sheer bulk and they attacked. Supported by Rhino and Plague Marine suppressive fire, the force advanced, felling a Celestine who was too far forward and causing all of the melta Sisters to die. Celestine returned, however, and the Imperial response heavily hurt the Plaguebearers and shot down one of the two Daemon Princes.
Growing desperate, the Chaos force surged forward. A squad of 15(?) Sisters was blocking the street as Guardsmen surged forward behind them, eager to keep the Daemons away from the artillery company. They were blessed as the Sacred Banner of the Order Militant allowed their invuln to go to a 3++. It took a ridiculous amount of firepower to bring them down and just barely did the Nurgle force blow a hole to allow the Great Unclean one to charge the Repressor. Forgetting a rule prevented his melee attacks from destroying the Repressor, but at that point it was late and Nurgle conceded. 50-60 more Guardsmen were coming in to back up the devastated Sisters contingent and the artillery was about to open up on the massive Unclean Ones. Already losing by a few points and seeing it would be impossible to reach the artillery, there was no way for the Chaos force to succeed.

20190201_225026.jpg

Except for the initial target selection of the Leviathan, I thought I did well, but the sheer number of tarpit units and the poor psychic rolls / SISTERS DENYING EVERYTHING prevented me from Nurgle Rotting my way through the horde.

The new models they've revealed look amazing. Love the snipers and the vanguard lieutenant. That chaos vehicle looks hot as fuck too.

I think I'm pretty much done with marines, though. Too many more interesting armies to put together for me to go back and add to my Blood Angela for a good long while. If I do, it'll certainly be these dudes I add to them.

Nice, new Black Legion marines, new gun hulk man, new spiderbot and new Abaddon. It's a good time to be a chaos fan. Just need to find someone who wants all those Primaris.

That Obliterator looks amazing - such an improvement over the old one. But enough heretical talk...

Love those Space Marines - I may buy a small handful to run as Deathwatch.

And another Sisters model... I cannot wait for the full release. It will get all my money.

To be honest I don't enjoy the tacticool elements they are bringing to my (lol) space marines. Even though the minis look cool I feel like they are a little generic - like from a different game or 3rd party. I really hate the camo on the backpack lol.
I wish they'd make marines more warrior monks and less operatives if you know what I mean.

A backpack swap and a different paintjob might look better.

At least the Sisters look like they are keeping it gothic.

If there are Primaris Marines now, are there also Primaris Scouts? What differentiates them from normal Scouts if so?
There aren't Primaris Scouts in the sense of older-style Space Marine Scouts - these new guys are full Marines rather than new recruits in training, they remind me of the Legion Reconnaissance Squads of the Great Crusade and Heresy eras:

So thats what the cool Marines with the cloaks were. So they're just normal Marines given sniper rifles and then called Scouts? Sounds redundant. Wouldn't it be easier to just give normal squads the option to equip a sniper rifle?

They're specialists, here's the accompanying fluff GW posted:
The Vanguard Space Marines add a new tool to the arsenal of the Adeptus Astartes.

Trained in covert operations, these ruthless killers operate behind enemy lines as saboteurs, assassins and infiltrators. While the Intercessors and Tactical Squads execute their wars out in the open, these guys fight in the shadows – and they fight dirty.

Vanguard Space Marine Librarians sometimes lead these strike forces. They are masters of shrouding and stealth, allowing their battle-brothers to strike at enemy forces when they're least expected…

Eliminators are dead-eye snipers. From concealed positions, these expert marksmen target and take out key enemy leaders, utilising a range of exotic and deadly ammunition tailored to their target. No heretic lord or xenos commander is safe.

The idea of space marine scouts always makes me laugh. Look at them! They're about as stealthy andquiet as a monster truck. 8 foot tall guys in blue power armour aren't stealthy at *anything*. A freaking herd of elephants would be less noticeable.

The normal Scouts look at least light enough to be convincing, but full armored Space Marines stealthing around behind enemy lines? Yeah thats stretching it a bit.

Hope the snipers at least are different rule wise as to not make scouts redundant, but of course its clear they are trying to slowly replace the old line with new primaris versions.

That's why scouts don't wear full power armor, half of of their kit is just regular BDU's. Main reason why only scouts are typically the stealthy marines, the rest aren't equipped for it.

I know we're all focused on Sneaky Beaky Vanguard marines but I just wanna point out the small detail that the Chaos Marine on the left has a little skull with an open jaw over the "breach" on his Bolter, so when he fired it'll move back and forth like it's laughing.

I really love all the little tiny details on all these new ranges of models. They're unecesary but add so much personality and self awareness to them.

I really hope the CSM in shadow spear are a taste of an upcoming revamp of their line. Cuz regular Chaos Marines look really dated in comparison. They just don't capture the vison of heretic astartes like in the art or lore.

That's cool, my group are starting our Blackstone adventures next month so we'll have the Ambull right there at the start. Few interesting things in that box contents picture if you squint. New sealed pack, ship token at the back and a pink version of the Ambulls hostile card. Logically I would say that is likely a stronger boss version of the Ambull but it would be cool if it's a neutral version of it that attacks anyone else on the board. This perhaps was avoided due to it making the game a little too complex and difficult to balance but I think it's a bit of a shame that the monsters don't infight in Blackstone. Always felt thematically odd having a group of Ur-Ghuls run through a group of Renegade Guardsmen to reach you when (unless I'm missing part of the lore) wouldn't they just turn on each other.

I'm sure everyone who's been on Reddit has seen it but in Italy a carnival is parading around this monstrosity;

806010136_182659.jpg

It's supposed to be a satirical parody, as given by the writing on the sword "your problem", the giant claw, and that this is a specific thing they do every year were they mock politicians.

Problem is that it's not a very good parody as it actually looks legit impressive and the likes of Fox News and T_Donald have taken it as a straight up loving tribute.

I know we shouldn't bring politics into this group as we run that into the ground everywhere else on Era, but I think it's important to bring up as honestly, this is the most mainstream representation 40K is ever gonna get. When you mention 40K to someone who has never heard of it, this is the sort of thing they're midns gonna jump to. And that does not look good.

Quite a fail if that was intended as a mockery of Trump, dumb idea and he's not someone I enjoy seeing 40K associated with. The masses with no knowledge of 40K will likely see it as some kind of pro-Trump tribute, and his supporters among 40K fans will love it too. Can't wait for the Trump presidency to be over.

Better or worse, I think it's actually quite in-line with 40k lore and how people see it.

Intended to show Trump/The Imperium as utter xenophobic shitbags who make life hell for their people, yet idiots think they're the good guys.

get that fucking thing outta this thread.

I have seen nothing but T_D attempting to ram that fucking statue into every 40k forum I have seen.

BOlterandchain sword has been purging the shit outta those posts, the 40k threads on reddit the same.
