Thanks. I think I'll watch in english and leave subtitles on.I haven't been listening (still not sure if I wanna make time to rewatch alongside it), but I'm pretty sure there's a mix? It sounded like Austin watched subbed at least, going by his tweets about how they don't translate a lot of on-screen writing unless you're watching the dub.
Kind of bummed they didn't acknowledge Danielle's absence on the last Evacast?
I don't see why she has to?Is it starting to get weird that Natalie still hasn't announced her job
I guess not, though her Twitter says something new coming soon so pretty sure she intended to announce it.
That Lu Bu battle is proof that strategy games need more raid boss mechanics.
This suggestion seems kinda at odds with itself. Of course the hero units in a Three Kingdoms game are gonna be uber-powerful, as it suits the story. But not actual history. Otherwise, what historical games should have crazy units like you want? For sure. 3 Kingdoms is great and i'm glad CA have found a way to bring over more interesting mechanics to the historical titles.
I still wish it wasn't limited to only hero units but it's a good first step and makes the combat much more interesting.

Okay, I gotcha. Fair enough!I'm not just talking combat strength but abilites and specialisations. Like some spearmen units buffing other, nearby units and stuff like that.
My big problem with most historical titles, after having played them for hundreds of hours, is that as soon as you get your first shock cavalry the game becomes trivially easy aside from sieges. You just need some infantry to hold the line, and horses to rush into the back of the attackers to win. And since basic units tend to be universal (every faction has the same spear unit, for example) it's a strategy that works for every faction.
The way 3 Kingdoms handles Generals/Heroes and their retinues is a solution to that. Generals tend to specialize in troop type and the buffs they bring also help with encouraging more army diversity.
As a personal preference, i'd still like a bit more complexity than is present in 3K though (talking strictly about battles, the strategy map is complex enough). Especially since more specialised factions also make for more replayability since you learn new playstyles with different facitons you play. This is something 3 Kingdoms does on the strategy map by giving different factions unique abilites. I'd like that for the battles as well, even if it's a bit less "realistic".
It is true that real life does not easily make for awe inspiring big boss battles. But I wonder how much realism you can lose in order to make the game more interesting to play. I wonder if they would continue to make a "romance" option for future games, like a Shogun 3 for example.
They could probably fantasize a general medieval Europe thing with historical figures, but in that case there isn't a singular text to pull from like there is with 3K.I hope they do. It's a nice compromise.
They could vary up what's given the "romantisation" treatment too. 3K has many larger than life personalities. Other era's might serve other myths.

Eva hot take alert: the monster-of-the-week and slice-of-life stuff is excellent, every thing else is pretty poor from ep 17ish onwards.
