It's good stupid fun, like Transformers, or Fast and Furious.

I'll be honest, I enjoyed that movie. It isn't good, but it's pretty damn fun. A good popcorn flick.

On the list of human atrocities measured in campy films, where does Cowboys vs. Aliens fit?
Yeah, the last references to it online were from 2015, so I think it's safe to say it's dead
I thought this was pretty fun. The two leads were amusing and Famke Janssen is clearly having a blast playing the villain. Also, any movie is improved by the presence of ludicrous steampunk automatic crossbows.

Ok made I've jumped the gun here a bit. It's the weekend, I'm on pain meds, and I'm tired. How does this compare to say Hugh Jackman's Van Helsing or League of Extraordinary Gentleman?
I really enjoyed that movie. I'm even aboard for a sequel if they bring Arterton and Renner back.

it has fun, sam raimi-ish witch designs, lots of cool gorey moments, not too much CG, and the actors do pretty well and seem like they are enjoying themselves in the roles

Not really. Those attempt to be the next Indy or Mummy. This is by the same guy that did Dead Snow, where it's a black comedy mixed with an action flick. This knows exactly what it is and does it pretty well. League or Van are just shit.
No but Hansel got diabetes because of the witch's house and it's a major plot point
They're all like "we gotta fight Jean Grey" and he's like "Oh No! My diabetes!"
You know what, in retrospect this was a good trend.
