I matched my lowest adult weight today. I've not been this light since 1991. 1 more lb and I'll be at a weight I've not been since I was 15 in 1981!

Woo! That's a heck of a milestone.
yeah it's been quite a year or so. Just another 12 lbs to reach my challenge goal of a healthy bmi. I have a photo of myself from before I started losing weight but I don't have the digital version yet. If I can get hold of it I'll do a before and after at the end of the challenge period. I should be roughly 1/2 the weight I was in the original photo by then!

Progress update:

I can put socks on like a normal person without extra maneuvers. Next one is probably putting shoes on while standing without discomfort and pants slipping down.

Started my own weight loss on 7.1.19, once again after multiple attempts over the years. This time I am going to do weight loss without weighing myself at all, since potentially slow progress discourages me so greatly. I'm gonna weigh myself at the end of the year and hopefully I have lost targeted 40 kilos from 120kg. Ofc if get thin before that, I can up my calories to maintenance, but I doubt it.

My diet is very simple, two meals of max. 1000 kcal per day, some foods are more than that but most are less. I eat shit like candies less than once week, and sometimes may eat out, but that is it. So far that has worked well, and putting on socks has gotten easier.

Biggest risk is definitely when I am not home for more than couple of days, since I always eat more then, which isn't huge problem. The problem is getting home and dealing with the initial hunger of eating less. Usually I start then snacking and whole thing spirals out of control.

Between these two posts, it seems as though you've made great progress. How do you feel now? Do you see progress when you look at photos or in the mirror? Are your clothes feeling looser? Has anyone else commented?

I don't really feel any different, but sure stretchmarks have gotten pale instead of red, and when I wear jacket it is no longer tight. In the mirror I don't really see difference, and I haven't taken photos recently.

Down to 197 lbs this morning and feeling good! I can definitely notice a difference in the mirror already and my clothes are feeling looser. Glad to read some of the other awesome milestones people are reaching here. Keep it up!

Checking in this morning at 64.6kg, which is up from last week's 64.1kg (and yesterday's 63.8kg >:-|). Mrs Squirrel and I went and got burgers last night for Valentine's, following it up with a serve of salted caramel ice cream, so I'm retaining water like a California cotton farmer.

It's a shame since it throws out all my metrics, but Friday is weigh in day and here we are.

This was one of my best weeks in a while. Went to the gym 4 days this week, and only didn't go Wednesday because I didn't sleep well the night before. Will make it a priority to go every weekday next week and get back to this just being a habit. Cardio-wise there was a lot less huffin' and puffin' this week, and I also made a few healthier tweaks to my diet.

I'm going to go ahead and give myself a do-over. Weighing in again at 63.6kg.

EDIT:

This morning we're doing well, having collectively lost about the equivalent of a family of four (mine), plus enough left over so that we could get a small to medium sized dog if we wanted:

165.1 kg
364.1 lb

Meanwhile xerzewatt and odbilal are duking it out at the top of the charts.

500g lost. Can't complain, but my results are still out of whack with the calories I'm counting. I'll keep working on it.

Something of an acceleration this week. The only change I made was increasing my morning walk from 3.6 to 4.8 miles. Not enough to explain the increased loss so I'm putting it down to the usual random bs and assuming next week will be a slow one.

Haven't been updating that much, and don't see myself coming out of this challenge with much progress. Been a rough start to the year (spent New Year's and the following week travelling for work and then subsequently got really sick for three weeks). This month, I don't have much of an excuse, got over the flu at the end of January, but just have generally been feeling a little down an unmotivated since then. This weekend, I'm trying to work on my larger goal of quitting smoking (have my quit date set for tomorrow), so will be focusing mostly on that. The last week of February, I'm back to travelling (gonna be super pissed if I get sick again), but yeah, I think this challenge is going to be a rough one for me. Amazing to see some of the other progress though.

So I decided to start working out since my belly started to worry me out, plus I want to say that I reached my 30's in good shape. Now I'm weigh in 240 lbs.

After a lot of time I finally decided to use the gym that I have in my building. So far I have been running in the treadmill for 20 minutes and using the spin bike for 15 minutes.

Also, yesterday I started doing some dumbbell exercises but so far I don't know if my routine is optimal. Also I tried to do squats with one dumbbell and I started to have a lot of pain on my knees, which I assume was because I'm overweight.

So yeah, I want to start improving my routine, but I don't know which could be the best routine for someone like me who first needs to lose some weight in order to avoid injuries.

My gym has

- 1 Treadmill
- 2 Spin Bikes
- An Elliptical
- Set of Dumbbells
- Set of gymnastic mattresses

First of all, welcome to the thread!

I see no mention of your diet in your post, which is 80% of what weight management comes down to, so I'll encourage you to read the OP, which has a lot of advice on that score.

As for exercise, while the effect on your actual weight loss will be minimal, you can get great results if you have a goal in mind.

If you want a Hollywood physique, I'd suggest that building some muscle will take you toward that goal. You could start by using the dumbbells with a set routine like this one. I'd head over to the Fitness thread in Hangouts for more advice though. The good news if you're carrying some extra weight and have never seriously weight trained before is that you'll be able to build up muscle while on a caloric deficit, at least for a while.

If you also want to be able to climb a flight of stairs or run for a train without feeling like you're going to die, I would suggest a short duration but high intensity routine. I do sprints (jog to the end of a field, sprint back as hard as you can) for ten minutes twice a week and this accomplishes that goal. On wet weather days, I do 3 sets of burpees (15/12/9) interspersed with 3 sets of squats (body weight only, 15/12/9) with no breaks. It takes 15 minutes out of my day, but it keeps me reasonably fit.

Again though, the Fitness thread is your friend here.

I think that I should go to an specialist who could help me develop a diet according to my situation

Sure thing. If you have specific needs, absolutely go see a specialist.

Something you could do right now (and it'll make the specialist's job easier) is to download a calorie tracking app like MyFitnessPal or Loseit and start tracking your intake without changing your diet. Weigh your food portions if you can. It'll give you and the specialist both a baseline from which to start and it'll let you skip the "keep a food diary and get back to me in a month" step of the process.

Great progress from everyone!
Bloody water retention is a pain and overall at my lower weight the difference not exercising is significant. For the weeks I'm not running I definitely see a spike upwards. Also was away on business and how that wrecks your diet and routine is crazy.
Trying to keep my resolve and hopefully it will be a downward trend soon.

Your BMI says you're underweight, but you're also unusually tall, which means that BMI is much less useful. You probably need to be eating more and exercising to build up more muscle.

Have you got an estimate of your body fat percentage?

Well I didn't realize it had been two months since my last update. Figures I don't follow-through immediately after requesting to be added to the tracking spreadsheet. Typical of me and my history of falling off track.

My scale's display is officially broken, but the voice still works. Here is my update:

Goal - 245 lbs
Current weight - 271.2
Loss since last post - .2 lbs

I have lost 1/5th of a lb in two months. I have gone up and down, and for two days was actually under 270 but I do not have the proof to show it obviously. I have decided that I will invest in a new modern scale and begin participating weekly in these threads. And, I'm going to cut out 'cheat days' for the rest of the year and just hold myself to account every day, and I'm going to start counting my calories (I have started already, honestly.)

Edit: And I want to say, it's incredibly inspiring as always to read about the progress my fellow Erans are making. Well done! :D

Well it has been a while since I posted an update, and here it is.

Previous Weight - 271.2
Current Weight - 246.2
Loss since last post - 25 lbs

I am nearly at the goal I had set for myself of 245lbs. I have decided that 245lbs isnt good enough, and my new goal is 230lbs by Canada Day. I really feel like I can do it. I have continued my focus on abstaining from sugar, intermittant fasting and have also stepped up my excersise given I now have more energy day to day.

New weigh-in for me: 78.4kg

400g down, which still isn't matching up with the calories I'm counting but it is at least consistent. I'm eating roughly 1600 calories a day, with a TDEE of around 2500, so I'd hope to be losing a little more each week. I've been over my diet really carefully to make sure I'm not getting any extra calories anywhere, so at this point I can only think that maybe my TDEE/BMR aren't where I think they are.

To be fair, though, I'm getting fairly lean and I'm pretty close to my ideal weight, so maybe this is just how it's going to be from here on. The US Navy body fat calculator puts me at about 10-11%, and I'm starting to see the faintest hint of some abs when the lighting is just right. My lowest ever weight is 77.7, so I'm excited to blow past that into uncharted territory in another couple of weeks.

Down another pound. Went to the gym every day this week, which was good. Almost back up to my full half hour cardio workout, though still nowhere near where I want to be fitness-wise. The week probably would have been better if I didn't have a big sub after work on Monday and a donut on Wednesday, but...down is down.

I may have checked in before but my girlfriend and I are on day 5 now of the HCG diet/protocol.

Wasn't able to get a starting weight - our scale's battery died and I only just replaced it yesterday - but the last physical I had I weighed in at (I believe) 262 lbs, though that was clothed and mid-day. But I'll just use today as the benchmark.

This is actually the first time I can see that you posted in this thread, which is weird, because I remember your last update. Was that in the last challenge?
