I don't remember people getting excited for new decades, just the new millennium.

Meh, nothing interesting about 2020. At least in 2000 we had the Y2K to be excited about.

It's too far ahead to think about, we got Halloween, Black Friday, X-Mas all to get through first.

Slow your roll Joel.

How old are you, OP? Could be it's just another turn of the decade for you. Younger people, though, might be pumped for it if it's their first or second.

10 more years of everything getting worse and the entire world being stupid and letting themselves be ruled by literal cartoon supervillains AND/OR killing themselves with whatever stupid anti-science shit they decide to adopt?
No thanks, fuck everything

Technically decades/centuries/etc start on the year ending with 1, not 0

Yeah, when I saw the thread title I was "not this shit again".

A new decade is just a signal that I'm even closer to my death and a reminder that I've wasted my life. I'm getting old and I don't like it.

That's like 1/100th of the millennium change, which I've already experienced. Why would I be excited for something that is 1/100th of my norm?

I don't recall there being much excitement going into the 2010s. The 1999 into 2000 days were, of course, a huge deal because of Y2K, "It's a new millennium!", etc.

First time hearing that a decade starts with 1 and not 0. It doesn't make any sense.
A decade is from 0-9, ten year period.

There is a reason the year 1990 is part of the 90s and not the 80s

Yeah, I agree. Where's the hype? Hope a majority don't think 2020 is part of the 2010s. That makes no sense.

I always wanted to live during the 20s, so I guess I get my chance.

Plus, it's the first decade since the '90s with a good shorthand. Better than whatever we call the '00s and this decade. We'll finally be back on track.

The Future isn't what it used to be. Plus I turn 40 in December. My wow factor has diminished. Except for my little girl. Damn 2 year old drives me bonkers but every day it's a new adventure.
