We're really just colonies of cells. Not individuals

Been thinking about this a lot lately. As multicellular beings, we have no individuality. Every facet of our being is just a collection of cells. We're nothing more than walking talking ant colonies except with cells. It's fucking wild

Nah. Ant colonies aren't collectives. We are a collective that acts for the good of the collective, not for the good of any one cell or group of cells.

Isn't there mounting evidence that these organism (usually bacteria) somehow dictate some of our behavior?

When someone commits a crime, which cells are guilty? When someone is sexist, which cells are canceled? Is seven years long enough for redemption?

And those cells are made of atoms—which are mostly empty space.

Not only are we not really individuals, we’re almost entirely nothing.

A cell is a collection of atoms and molecules ... they aren’t basic either we got electrons quarks etc etc ... maybe strings lower level . Humans are an emergent phenomenon yes ... I don’t see the issue ... you are a collection of random crap yes if you break it down that way .

We are just our consciousness. But that's an emergent property of the brain, so we aren't just colonies of cells.

Also, following this line of thinking, nothing is anything.

Not even your mind is one single person, you just think it's only you but there are many you in your head and they constantly argue over the actions you take. When a decision is made, one person is assigned to speak to the unity of you.... resistance is futile... what an absolute unit!
