Just found out the next season of Trollhunters is coming to Netflix on December 15th. I am looking forward to that.
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/netflix-from-despicable-me-co-creator-1202617585/Netflix has acquired exclusive global rights to the animated pic "Klaus," the directorial debut for Sergio Pablos, who wrote the story and is the co-creator of "Despicable Me."
The all-star voice cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Rashida Jones, J.K. Simmons, and Joan Cusack.
The film is a Christmas family comedy that tells the story of a desperate postman who inadvertently brings about the genesis of Santa Claus. The screenplay is written by Pablos, Zach Lewis, and Jim Mahoney, based on an original story by Pablos.
The best animated show, and really the best TV show in general, is coming back next year. I'm talking about the Venture Bros. of course.
A while ago a CGI film about a monster family was announced with just a concept image. I can't find the film now. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Is it confirmed for 2018? I didn't hear that but I desperately want it to come out soon.
That article is horrible. Screw the stupid either/or categories of the academy. I like the idea of film style as a scale, in which abstraciton is on the one end. And mimesis/reality is on the other. Most films are probably somewhere in the middle. I mean, hybrid movies have been super common for a while now. They should've changed their award system with Jurassic Park. Maybe a stronger focus on awards for departments, and not film genre? Guess I'm not the right person to improve the oscars, just wanted to say that the current system is stupid.Haven't read the article, but I've been saying this for months. How can a movie be considered live-action if every single character is CGI-animated and mostly everything else is CG? I can see how Avatar got away with it because a lot of the cast were human actors or at least motion-captured humans. But every single character in Lion King is a talking animal. The new Lion King isn't a live-action remake so much as it is a CGI-animated remake with live-action settings and traditional live-action camera movements. I mean, I have no doubt that it will look amazing. It's just a weird middle ground for the movie to be in.
Wow, I really love this artstyleOh, wow, I didn't realise this thread exists. Thanks for all your hard work getting it up Emily! I was trying to get something up myself but then I got stupid busy.
I'll probably comment in this a bunch, especially when I get my legs under me work wise.

It's the film that had that amazing trailer drop a while back:
I'd embed it, but the official link is not on YouTube.

I'd love to see more older Western cartoons make the jump to HD and 4K. Especially given that Batman: TAS will be getting a BD release next year.Do we have a list of pre-2008 western animated shows that are in High Definition?
The other day, i was surprised to find out that shows like the original Teen Titans (2003), Kim Possible (2002) and What's New Scooby-doo? (2002) were made natively in HD.

Also, Disney has remastered some of their older 80s and 90s shows in HD.

Is there a thread for the Hey Arnold Jungle movie yet?. It's coming out this Friday.
I completely forgot about that movie. Is it getting a limited theatrical release?

That redone Goof Troop title card looks so off, though.

Does anyone know of a modern cartoon that carries a similar animation style to the classic Chuck Jones/Tex Avery pictures?
Three minutes in...The Goof Troop Title Card's done in flash and if you compare the remastered intro to the old one, you'll notice how some footage are missing.
While we're at it, the OG "Scooby-Doo Where Are You?" has also been remastered
Christmas 2019, so a ways out for sure. I don't even think it's entered key animation yet, dispite the trailer (which was mostly for investors).Hey, this looks neat! Any release dates or anything?
I'm surprised this is being made/funded with ATresMedia involvement, hoping that means a good release here.
Preview wasn't that interesting.Hey, so if anyone is interested, the first hour long TV movie of the Big Hero 6 show is going to be playing at 8 PM on Disney XD. I can't say in the biggest fan of the movie, but it piqued my interest because it's being made by Mark McCorcle and Bob Schooley, the two creators of Kim Possible.
I've been searching for a while, but have yet to find anything. Does anyone know of a modern cartoon that carries a similar animation style to the classic Chuck Jones/Tex Avery pictures? I love the organic feeling of them, the humour and the methodology behind them, and it's a real shame that seemingly nothing modern follows in those footsteps.
You should go ahead and make a thread when you're open. Not sure if anyone else planned to, but I want to make an OT for the shorts since they were popular at the old place with nice organized thumbnail links to the old shorts, but I've just been so busy and haven't had the chance. Unless you guys think it's not necessary and would be better suited for the thread?
There's a complicated answer for that. Might want to read this 4chan thread from two weeks ago. There's a lot to parse there about how Warner Archive decides what cartoons to re-release and distribute and when from someone who works in that department.I remember there being a rumour that that, the first series of The Flintstones, the entirety of Yogi Bear, and the 1960's episodes of The Jetsons were going to be on 4K BD, but it seems like nothing came of it. So far, they're only on plain old DVD. I HATE WHEN STUDIOS DO THAT! Remaster a show in HD only to put in on an old SD format.
Where have you been?
Where have you BEEN?
DAMN YOU, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?
And where were you 10 years ago? 20 years ago?
Where were you when I was new?
When I was one of those innocent young maidens you always come to?
How dare you.
How DARE you come to me now, when I am this?
The new Paul Rudish Mickey Mouse shorts maybe? There's a really fun energy to them that at times reminds me of Avery. A new short came out the other day actually.
Didn't was hoping for an impression
Bob's Burgers is also terrific: their Thanksgiving episodes are now my favorite holiday-themed episodes in a series.
It's criminal that there's no official thread.
I should watch Bob's Burger's already. How many seasons is it so far?
Also it seems this year is Anastasia's 20th anniversary. I should watch it and the spin off movie.
Will watch all of them thanks.8 seasons, but you can start anywhere. It's episodic, so other than minor characters returning from old episodes, there's no real orders watching the show. Some people thought Season 1 was rough & recommend starting at Season 2. I disagree, but that seems to be the consensus.
Would I be exaggerating if I said Megas XLR could put many anime mecha series to shame? It has the right kind of action I want from a mecha show.
TBH most of the mecha series I've watched were too much character and plot focus than robots beating each other up and explosions.Yes, but it set a pretty damn high bar for mecha parodies, you could see it came from a place of love.
