I think the movies are good fun. Its interesting concept of like where the world went that it was like lets do this.

The Purge has one of the best premises of any film I've ever seen. But its scope betrays it so badly. It doesn't even feel like a half measure!

Anarchy was the logical progression of the premise and had a better scope... But man, I wanted a horror movie. So I didn't care for it much either.

Didn't see Election Night.

I enjoyed the first one a whole lot, found the other two a bit less memorable. This video has a decent breakdown of the commentary within the purge.

Good concept, bad execution. I thought the first one was an okay b movie, haven't seen the sequels.

The films are dumb fun. I can watch them once to kill some time but a rewatch is not going to happen.

First one is trash, the second two are really fun action-horror films that find a lot of meat in the hyper-political concept. Anarchy is full of phenomenal moments, twisting the action genre into something truly thrilling - just by pointing the camera at the targets of violence, rather than at the perpetrators.

Looking forward to the next entry, and the TV series.

haven't seen them. From the trailers they seem like murder open. Think they should get more creative for sequels, Rob something maybe?

Great concept, poor execution. Was disappointed the first one was a home invasion film, but I still enjoyed it. Didn't enjoy the second one as much, oddly enough. Third one was straight-up bad.

They keep talking of a prequel and I couldn't care less.

One of the dumbest premises in history. The actual films aren't terrible (but not good either), but the basic premise never makes a lick of sense even once.

Silly AF premise. It's kinda like societal torture porn.

I liked the first two, enough to want to watch the third one. Also, nice to watch Lena Headey on a different role.

Their transformation into Punisher movies starring Frank Grillo was interesting
Yeah. I think personally the first was only okay, but Anarchy and Election Year were really good. I think Anarchy was the tighter movie, but Election Year had a bit more depth to it. It's hard to pick a favorite between the two. Hopefully the TV series won't blow.

I'm a fan. The second one felt like a punisher movie which was cool. Cool concept overall but movies fall a bit short. Jason Blum briefly talked about them in the nerdist podcast which I just listened to today lol

I haven't seen any of them, but I'm interested. Which one is the best one?
Purge Anarchy, the second one.

The first was allright, but I felt they kind of underutilized the basic premise there. The second and third one start to expand the scope of the Purge night and was more what I had in mind when I read about the setting.

Frank Grillo is the best Punisher.

Pretty bad, but good enough to play it in the background without paying too much attention

The first one is absolutely a waste of concept and execution. The second one is plainly a more action oriented genre movie, but it's executed well and explores the premise more fully. The third only doubles down on the second and while I don't think it's necessarily better, but I think overall the trajectory of the series is only getting better by layering the social commentary on harder as it goes on.

Agreed about the first one not taking the concept far enough. The idea is so over the top that a home invasion movie doesn't really cut it. The 2nd and 3rd were far more entertaining, which is all I really ask for with these sorts of films.

I think they should have stopped at two films. The first established the premise but didn't do enough with it, the second gave people a wider scope, more of what they wanted, and Frank Grillo.

The third one was awful.

Watched the first. Thought it was interesting premise around your standard home invasion thriller. I think I just might be a seeker for ethan hawke though.

Sequels seem headed more into social commentary so I kind of want to watch them. But not enough to seek them out haha

First one was decent, good enough to get to me watch the second.
Second I felt was actually legit good. I quite enjoyed it.
Third was a step down from both. Worst in the series and gives me no interest to see a fourth.

First one wasn't feeling it, once the series moved pass a bad slasher into action b-movie territory, with the second and third movie, then I started to like them .

Love them. First movie was a proof of concept like Saw. Then it really begins starting with the sequel. As long as Grillo sticks around and they keep the siege idea going, I'm in for the long haul.
