I feel like I can be as unreasonable as I want because they haven't said anything about the game yet, so for single player I want God of War: Halo, and for multiplayer I want something that doesn't give a shit about esports.

A huge and epic campaign. Something that has massive open areas. I want those amazing battles from the first 3 games to return.

Have high hopes for the game.

I want a modern Halo 3. Every layer they added after that game have just taken away, Halo 3 had it all figured out, there just needs to be more around it,.

Halo 2/3 gameplay, level design of Halo 3, have a warthog run at the end. Really that's all you need.

No sprint, fast base movement speed

Classic Halo visual design

Equipment/abilities recontextualized in a Mass Effect style power wheel (with RPG upgrades for each power)

A campaign where you get to play as the iconic video game character, Master Chief.

I just want destiny's shooting.
I was playing REACH last night and man....I'm just not a fan of that type of shooting at all. I like ADS, the whole firing from the hip thing is just not for me.

Otherwise I love the universe, read all the books and despite hating the shooting I'm looking forward to giving it a go on Gamepass, no matter what they decide to do I'm sure Microsoft will deliver.

Knowing that they are reverting to a classic Bungie era art style and the armor customization is going to be Reach inspired, the following...

  • Better map design. Halo 5's arena feels like there is less focus on map control as you can get shot at from 12 difirent directions in every room.
  • Slow down the combat loop in multiplayer a bit, I don't care if Spartan Abilites return, I just think as they are in Halo 5 it makes the game way to sweaty
  • Campaign that is inspired by Halo 1's massive environments and both Halo 1 and 2's storytelling
  • Scarab battles similar to Halo 3's/ODST's
  • Minimum amount of modes at launch should be everything that is in Reach
  • Build off Warzone by making Firefight customization and maybe forgable aswell. Ditch Warzone Assault and replace it with Invasion.
  • PLAYABLE ELITES
  • Don't abandon what Halo 5 set up from a story perspective but improve the writing across the board
  • If it's within scope bring back Lord Hood, Arbiter, Blue Team, and Half Jaw
  • Bring back Brutes, Drones, Prophets, and the Flood... maybe even the Banished?
  • If Warden Eternal returns make each boss encounter with him unique with new abilities rather than just spamming multiple versions of him
I'm not expecting all of these to be met, but I feel it's good enough feedback and almost everyone can agree with it.

A good story and more multi species battles. (ie. Humans vs covenant vs flood), not necessarily big in scale but with lots of enemy ai making it seem like you are in the middle of a big space battle.

That's when halo was always at its best for m.e.

Any change they make they get crucified and anything they don't change is the same thing.

I'd like ADS and one full world (without planet hopping) lots of Warthog sections too.

A return to the visual and audio identity of the original trilogy.

Open ended level design that empowers a creative approach yet emphasize the classic 30 seconds of fun loop Halo is known for.

A sense of wonder and exploration.

Global removal of sprint so maps aren't balanced around that garbage, the addition of more skill jumps that aren't affected by wall clambering (such as in Halo 3 G1 to G2 and S1 to S2 on Guardian, and S1 to S2 jump on The Pit) and no ADS.

For ranked playlists:
  • No spartan abilities
  • No wall clambering
  • No recoil
  • Removal of the power weapon spawn time messages so players actually have to keep track

I don't mind them keeping thruster boosting since that's a decent thing to keep that adds variance to strafing.

343 to make good MP maps.
Good campaign that's fun to play.
better gunplay, 5 had it alright just needs to be tweaked a bit. Make it more like an arena shooter again.

So it's been over 4 years since we have seen any gameplay from a new Halo game. For context, Halo 5 was released 3 years after Halo 4. It's been a long time. We have had two trailers, a few small details, and not much else.

-We Know the game takes place after Halo 5
-We know the game is a "spiritual reboot" meaning it's still in the 343 trilogy of games but will be a sort of soft reboot of the series
-The art style is heavily influenced by the original trilogy and Halo Wars
-The game seems to be a lot more open than some of the previous Halo games, many have compared that openness to the feeling you get during Halo Combat Evolved

...and that's kind of all we know. Infinite should be launching in under a year, and we kind of don't know exactly what it is. I'm just wondering what everyone wants from the game. A complete reinvention of the series? More of the same that we got from 343? A copy and paste version of what Bungie gave us? I'm curious what the overall consensus is.
More than anything, I want boots in the mud on an actual Halo ring from start-to-finish for the campaign (hopefully a lengthy one approaching 20 hours). Beyond that I want a highly customizable and evolved Firefight mode to return for both solo/co-op/group play.

I'm not sure if I want it to be a service-type game but I wouldn't mind having daily/weekly modifiers, etc as reasons to re-play the campaign and any other modes with a progression system for armor customization, unlocks, etc.

-Campaign with open ended levels where story is kept to a minimum in favor of sandbox gameplay . I want to see dynamic large scale fights with Scarabs and multiple ways to approach levels. As mentioned by others a Warthog run would be great and fits Halo better than bosses.
-Halo 5 pistol back as the main utility but make it look and sound beefier
-No clamber, no sprint, no stabilizer, no spartan charge, no slide, keep the thruster
-A good variety of arena maps both symmetric and asymmetric
-Proper support for BTB and a Sidewinder/Avalanche remake headlining its map pool
-Dev tools for map making, no more ugly forge maps

-Forge, with no/vastly expanded item limits and Forgeworld
-Maximum of 1 community voted Forge map in quick play rotation at a time which changes on a weekly basis
-Server browser
-Armor abilities as items, aka, single use with no recharge (except for maybe campaign use)
-No Promethean anything
-DRM and BR can both co-exist
-Elites, Flood, and Brutes as enemy types, alongside the other standards
-More involved Flood forms; maybe some get worse if left alone too long, maybe some combine, maybe some consist of multiple stages which get shot apart
-Duel wielding
-More open ended mission design like New Alexandria or Silent Cartographer
-Brief setpiece mixups like the Broadsword/space sequence in Reach, that wave defense part from Reach, using a mech suit in a darkened hanger against a Flood...flood, H3 Scarab fight, H4s big gun truck escort thingy, etc etc
-Weapons which elegantly contain secondary functionality, like the needler or EMP effect of the grenade launcher
-Warzone and invasion as gametypes
-Maybe sprint and maybe clamber? Probably just thrusting
-Any fights on a scarab/large machine should take the shifting of the machine across the terrain into account, not just a fancy looking basic platform. Think Uncharted 2 train level.
-One-shot for the campaign. If MC gets picked up somewhere, let them use warp, and then we can ride a drop pod into a base or whatever; maybe even steering it a bit to have some approach variety.

Something like Halo 5s multiplayer or some evolution of that. Playing Reach reminds me how much better 5 is.

I'll enjoy it either way

Keep thrust, nerf clamber. Fucking dump sprint, increase base movement speed. Build weapon view models with centered crosshair in mind so they don't take up 1/4th the screen like in Halo 5/Reach PC with centered crosshair on. It should look like Halo 1 in that regard. Get rid of all other abilities. Bring Invasion back. Squad Slayer (5v5) playlist as the default social slayer, 4v4 is ranked. If 343 insists on having Automatics/Assault Rifle be a mainstay as opposed to a strictly secondary, approach it how Destiny does instead of just functionally beefing up the SMG. Bring back the Brutes.

I just want it to feel like Halo and not a game pretending to be Halo. I'd like weapons and aliens that feel like a part of Bungie's world and not fan fiction.

Also, I would absolutely love if

Let Master Chief team up with Jerome and fight Atriox & Banished considering that the Halo Wars 2, Halo 5 endings are sort of linked

Stop making Recon helmet an early helmet to get. Recon used to mean something until 343 decided to mark it as a "common" helmet. How dare you, Recon was the rarest of them all at one point, and you dare to spit on that legacy. How dare you.
Actually bungie made it easy to get before 343 when reach came out.

Give me an open world campaign. Or a series of very wide linear levels. Objectives that can be approached from multiple angles, side missions, the whole nine yards.
