Yoshi's New Island is a reaally good game. It has some outstanding level design (e.g. secret level of world 2), fun mechanics (by motion control), the most beautiful graphic in the series, memorable boss fight (e.g. big bean) etc.

Of course, I accept that it has some mediocre levels but anyway for the total, I really enjoyed the game.

Kingdom Hearts 3 had already cemented itself as my GOTY. No other game this year will have as many memorable moments that are both beautiful in places and ridicously epic in others. Really glad they didn't try and turn it into a open world game like MGSV, BOTW or FFXV. Such a breath of fresh air to get a wonderful and guided thrill ride with so much replay value. Most other hyped games this year are going to feel mundane now.

Kingdom hearts writing is actually great because the main character literally is the protagonist because of empathy. He loves his friends and anyone can be his friend from a villian to a monster.

kingdom hearts 3 literally ends with sora giving a happy ending to everyone else except himself, hes the best boy.

Also hes someone that's like "hey after this let's play cards together" after a boss fight, you just cant get kinder writing then that

I mean, I'm agreeing with you? The foundation for something great is there. The premise is terrific, the shooting solid and the visual design was A++. It's just a shame that there are innumerable poor design decisions and they framed it all around a plot which really isn't that interesting and ends just as it seems to get going. I replayed it last month and wrote about it in more detail here if you care to see my thoughts

Netherrealm fighting games are absolutely great.

MvCI doesn't look that bad. I. I think it looks pretty good at times actually.

I really liked AvP 2010 and thought it had some pretty good stuff in it, and it still looks great.

Bioshock infinite has a fantastic and satisfying combat system.

Ratchet and Clank is perfectly fine at 30fps, and I prefer that tradeoff for the amazing graphics.

PlayStation exclusives are always on the forefront when it comes to graphics. No game on the most powerful PC looks as good as Uncharted 4 or TLoU 2.

Sonic Lost World shows the most promise for 3D Sonic in over a decade. Terribly mismanaged, but the premise was extremely solid. Focus on movement rather than speed, and how Sonic's abilities allow you to utilize the environment to gain speed is so much more compelling than the boost premise.

The game industry would be lost without them but I don't care for a thing they do. It's fucking wild to me. I'll Day one any console they put out and hate myself 3 months later.

You know what, I havent really heard alot of dispute to the claim so you might be right. Other than some saying Ninja Gaiden Black or Bayo 1 there is really no game that is comparable because of how old those games are and how perfect the iteration was from DMC 4 to 5.

Other M has great gameplay.
Evolve was slick and paved the way for a lot of games nowadays.
Battlefront from EA is a good game.

Xenogears Disc 2 is good overall.

Star Wars Battlefront (2015) and Battlefront II (2017) both eventually became decent games.

I like Tidus.

Civilization V is better than IV and VI is better than V.

Sonic Generation's modern sonic levels are peak sonic. Those who complain about it being boost-to-win missed the point: the true game is about speed running, and it was really fucking fun.
