I'm converted. It's been an ongoing process for about a year now but I officially love green tea, these got me hooked.

However I now run the issue of, I got off regular soda so I'm down to 0 calorie diet soda, coffee, and water. These teas have a good amount of sugar in them so I'm looking for some no calories options that I could use to replace the diet soda and coffee. Hell, your favorite to brew at home too. I've never brewed tea because I always hated black tea but I'd try it with green.

This is the one I purchase from a local/import supermarket. It's amazing.

Unless we're talking hot green tea, in which case I order from https://www.o-cha.com/en/. I usually go with Sae Midora Sencha.

I go for some Huang Shan Mao Feng. Have a tea set when my GF wants to join in, or will just do it with hot water directly on the cup if its just me.

Green tea doesn't taste like what those drinks taste like.

Not sure about hot, I've only had cold. I think I've seen this one at my ramen place, would just have to find in a store around here.
Definitely try for the "natural" green tea and not the artificially sweetened ones. They're more or less soft drinks at that point. :/

Ito En is probably the most popular of the green tea brands (as indicated on its label), but as mentioned, if you're only familiar with the sweetened kind, it probably won't taste like you'd expect. I find the natural green tea flavor delicious, but you may not. As for hot green tea, the site I recommended has a bunch of beginner guides if you're interested in going the healthy approach, but it's recommended to at least get a teapot specifically for brewing, along with the actual green tea itself. It's a little tricky in brewing (since temperature and brewing time matters), but you'll get there with practice. I have a Zojirushi water boiler that has a preset green tea setting, which makes it easy to have hot water on hand for whenever I want to make a pot.

But yeah, stay away from the green tea with sugar in them. :/

I have very low Green Tea standards. But I like what I like. Matcha pocky and trader joe's green tea mints are also addicting, if we're just counting tea flavor.

If I drink tea it's more often black tea, and these days, because I just need to grab something quick at work, it's been these Pure Leaf Cherry Hibiscus Teas. Which by taste I can tell are probably just as bad for me as soda. But dang are they good.

I'm also pretty big on Kombucha, if we wanna go deeper into the tea rabbit hole.

This is pretty much all I drink these days (besides water of course, lol). Caffeine doesn't sit too well with me so I don't get to drink real tea very often. But, this stuff is good; and still probably healthier for you to cool off with then, say, a two-liter bottle of soda.

Yeah, Ito En is a little too 'bland' for me, haha. Though I'm not as averse to unsweetened hot teas.

My fiancé is a green tea snob because she grew up in Shizuoka which is famous for growing it. I can't complain because we're always stocked with awesome tea. Good rule of thumb though is if it's a smaller brand, look for stuff from Shizuoka prefecture if you're getting stuff from Japan. I'll have to ask her for some recommendations.

I definitely prefer Japanese Green Tea to Chinese Green tea. I don't hate chinese green tea but that consistent vegetal umami boom of Sencha is just !!!

I've mainly been getting Harney & Son's Japanese Sencha Sachets. Nothing fancy but it's a good consistent cup.

edit: also a local supermarket sells the 2 Liter Oi Ocha. It's overpriced but it's really convenient.

Y'all posting juice instead of actual tea makes me rage and sad at the same time. To the OPs question, matcha is best hands down. But for stuff I drink regularly the ito en Oi Ocha bottles.

Whisk-prepared, bowl-served matcha. There's a specialist tea house in my home town who've been serving it for years, and I always go there.

For home brewing I like Green Dragon Pearl, or loose leaf Jasmine. I make do with teabags sometimes for time but it's never the same.
