One of my all-time favorite movies is Duel To The Death. It is about a fight between the best Chinese swordsman and the best Japanese swordsman. Of course, groups on both sides want to make sure their side wins, by any means necessary (Ninjas!) This movie is really underrated.

Twilight Samurai. That movie is the complete package.
I'm a fan of Ninja Scroll, also, even though it's kind of super problematic for a lot of reasons. I'll never forget trailer reels from Manga Entertainment showing shit like that with KMFDM playing in the background. that shit is like the 90s encapsulated for me.

I wish it was easier to collect these. It's something I really want to read one day but haven't because of its price tag.
Yeah the castle scene is just masterful filmmaking. Turning it into basically a silent movie for that scene increased its level of impact.
Same, there just no way I can afford to spend like 20 bucks on a single volume and there's 28 volumes. Maybe I'll try to go the digital route if it's available.
Ninja Scroll, Kenshin trust and betrayal, and Naruto would be my recommendations.
