So what movie/movies are you guys watching this Halloween?

Well last year I watched Wes Craven's New Nightmare (which was great btw). This year I'm thinking of going John Carpenter's Halloween and Friday the 13th Part 6 (which is my favorite of the franchise).

Not watching anything myself, but wanted to bring this classic up.

Not a bad choice if you just want something silly. How can you say no to Ernest, am I right?

As for actual scary/creepy movies, the Saw movies are some of my friends' favorites.

I highly recommend A Dark Song.

Although I am currently watching Young Frankenstein. Not sure what to watch after that. Perhaps something equally Halloween-themed.

That said, I'll be finishing Stranger Things Season 2 later on.

We had our yearly Halloween movie marathon evening this Saturday:

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)
Poltergeist (1982)
The Grudge (2004)
Train to Busan (2016)

Gotta hand it to Poltergeist for being entertaining af. Little to no boring passages and some surprising characters. There is nothing subtle about this movie and it has some awesome practical effects and some cheesy early 80s "CGI". Not all that scary from today's perspective, but it was really enjoyable nonetheless.

Train to Busan was probably the best movie. My GF even shed some tears because it's quite emotional at times. The word-of-mouth is true, this is quite a brilliant (Zombie) movie and unlike most other "horror" movies I have seen.

The Grudge was utterly disappointing. The second time I saw it or so, but it was a bore really.

Little Shop of Horrors had a surprising end and a catchy song here and there, but overall it wasn't really exciting or entertaining.

I can really recommend Train to Busan and Poltergeist.

Just watched House of 1000 Corpses and will watch Devil's Rejects tomorrow. I never watched the original Halloween or Nightmare On Elm Street so I wanna watch those too!

Better skip some parts of the original Halloween or have something to do while watching it or a mate to talk to, because holy hell, is it a slow burner. It drags on forever at times where nothing happens. The POV killer shot watching the targets is way too overused. It quite didn't age well.

Nightmare on Elm Street is a lot more entertaining and has some very cool practical effects and even some laughs. So if you wanna watch one or the other, definitely go with this one.

Ah, that's kind of a bummer. I might still give it a shot just so that I can say I've seen it, we'll see.

Definitely love me some well done practical effects though so that's good to hear!

I always give Scream a watch on or around Halloween. Everytime, I find something new to appreciate in it. It's one of the most expertly crafted thrillers in my opinion. I almost finished it tonight but decided to call it early.

The film is bursting with subtle and coincidental hints to the killer's identify, all while toying with your expectations. It almost dangles the identity in plain sight throughout the movie. And all the events align very well to the whereabouts of the suspects.

When Henry Winkler's is punishing the two kids who ran down the hallway in costume, the haircuts match the killers'. Additionally, you only see one guy run down the hallway but the principal has two in his office. Furthermore, the costumed guy runs off camera and as Neve Campbell's character turns the corner to where he should logically be, but she instead she runs into Skeet Ulrich.

I watched Prom Night (2008) to see how much of a trainwreck it was, and it turned out to be suitably boring, as expected. Even the unrated version was dull.

Wish Upon was on Friday. Fun, dumb movie with some black comedy. Plus, it had Barb from Stranger Things being Barb-ish again.

The Descent
Evil Dead (with my girl Jane Levy)
New Nightmare
Happy Death Day
And capping it off with Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, one of my favorite horror movie girls, kicking ass in Halloween H20.

I actually never watched H20, but I heard it was pretty entertaining.

I still don't think there has been a better (let alone more entertaining) horror movie since. Get Out is one of the few that come close.

To celebrate Halloween we're having a Night of Horrors celebration after work, and decided to watch It Follows, Lights Out and Viral.
The first two are probably among the my favorite horror flicks from recent years, but I can't say I have high hopes for Viral from what I've read.

I think I'm going to have to set aside some time one of these days to rewatch The Thing (the GOAT horror film).

Jigsaw is coming out in Italy tonight, just in time for Halloween. Going for the opening night with a friend. Saw, while not exactly the classic spoopy horror movie, is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, I watched every chapter at least 5-6 times each, some of them close to 10 probably. Very curious to see the series' new direction, and I honestly can't imagine a better horror movie for me this Halloween.

I know it's not a Halloween film, but I had to catch 2049 again before it leaves theatres for good...And it indeed is and holds up on second viewing!

(Correct answer):
watching The Shining (still the greatest purely psychological horror film ever), It, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and various entries in the Halloween franchise on TV...

Nobody really does anything for Halloween around here but I'll use it as a pretext to watch a horror double feature tonight. I'm thinking Son of Frankenstein (since I rewatched the first two recently) and Dellamorte Dellamore, which is a fantastic film that I haven't seen in more than a decade. It's a weird 90s italian semi-Burtonian zombie romance and, at times, comedy. We'll see how it holds up.

I still have an abundance of horror stuff on my DVR from TCM's schedule so might try and double feature something like Night of the Demon with The Old Dark House or some Hammer shit.

I have been watching scary/horror/spooky movies all month and today it comes down to The Bride of Frankenstein and The Fly (from the 80s). Frankenstein is my favorite movie monster, and I've never seen The Fly (hopefully it's good, I bought the Blu-Ray on a whim).

Have a spooky day, guys!
