Sony 75" Z9D in basement play/theatre room
Sony 65" HX950 in living room
Sony 55" A9G in kitchen

While the oled has a lot of great qualities, overall I like the picture on the Z9D better. The HX950 has the best industrial design of the three. The Z9D is our primary gaming tv.

I have room for a much larger display in the basement, so when 100" TV prices come down a lot, I'll replace the older HX950 with the Z9D.

Just moved to a new house. Bought a 75 inch Samsung 85R QLED for the living room.

Already had a 55 inch LG Oled C7, that is going to the bedroom.

Sony XBR-75X900E in the media room

Sony Bravia 32" KDL-W650A 1080P smart tv in bedroom. This one I believe is the last 32 inch 1080p set Sony has released in the states (2014), and it still looks so damn good

what do you do with your old TVs? Prices seem to crash so much and new models coming out every year that devalues your current set no matter how good it is. So do you just put it on ebay/craigslist/gumtree for a few hundred?

Generally, I just move it to a spare room or sell it to a friend for cheap. I've never trashed a TV.

My main TV that I use is currently a Sony KDL32EX500 but just last week I ordered a TV that is getting delivered today. Thank to our TV thread, I decided on a Sony X900F

55 inch B6 OLED. Still amazed at the image quality from time to time even though it is pretty dim. Waiting for HDMI 2.1 to be out there proper before I will upgrade. I want to upgrade to 65 inch or maybe even 77 inch so I don't have to sit so close for a good 4K experience.

Is it true that Samsung 4KTVs still don't support Dolby Vision?

anyways....
65" LG C9 for the Family Room. I've had it for about 4mos now, and it still amazes me.

55" LG C9 for my Man Cave. Got this at Costco on Saturday, but I'm waiting until we move into the new house to install it. I'm going to spend a whole ass day in my attic installing the home theater speakers in both rooms.

Samsung RU7100 - 43 inch. It's a low end 4K TV (that looks to me since it's my first 4K screen) that came out this year that I went with because I was able to get it for "free" through a deal Verizon Fios was running over the summer.

Not special but happy with it

65" LG B7 OLED
55" Sony X900E
42" Panasonic Plasma

To the OPs question, the X900E should still be good for gaming for a while to come. Games look really good in HDR on this set. Plus, it does a great job of handling non-4k and SDR sources, if you'll be keeping older consoles around

I'd say no need to upgrade unless you feel a desperate need for VRR, which is certainly nice and will presumably be supported on future consoles. I'd argue that alone doesn't justify an upgrade, but would be something to look for if you decide to upgrade anyway. I do love my OLED, but that upgrade was more motivated by film content than games. I probably would have just stuck with my 900E alone if my primary concern was gaming.

2x 80 inch 4ks in living room, media room

1x 70 inch 4k in the master bedroom

1x 48 inch 1080 in computer room over my monitors

For Christmas I ordered 2x 55 inch 4k TCLs for my kids with their own xbox ones attached. They'll be mounted side by side on the wall to the left of our main tv in the media room. It is going to be a pretty sweet set up for them!

That is a lot of televisions. We have a single 55" TV for everyone.

Was a good TV initially, turned into a great TV after a hefty software update and remote control refresh in 2017.

Sharp 27F641 X-Flat CRT
Used for SD classic and rhythm gaming, soon to be retired due to a progressing issue with discoloration.

m-series-design-large.jpg

it was my first big TV purchase (at $400) and it still is great. I've decided to wait till next year when HDMI 2.1 becomes more of a standard feature before upgrading.

And can I just say I love the controler for the tv

Still rocking my 2009 1080p 55" Panny plasma. It's got some burn in and needs to be upgraded, but I don't have any 4K gaming systems anyway, so I'll wait until late next year to upgrade once the next gen consoles are out.

I get that. Mine isn't small; we have a gym, three bedrooms, lounge, home office etc. but so far we get by with just one TV.

I suspect that'll change when my kids get older and want to spend more time in their rooms.

EDIT: I do have two 27" monitors in my office that I suppose could count as TVs.

I have a 42" Sony KDL whatever from 2015. Does it's job fairly well and has low latency, so good for gaming too :)

Don't know the exact model but it's a Samsung 40" LED from 2010.

We have a fairly small living room so it works for us.

Sadly still a Philips 39'' 1080p (NON SMART) TV which is why I use my PS4 for Netflix etc.

I might be upgrading to 4K in 1-2 years with the new console generation but not sure yet. If they focus on 4K HDR big time then yes. If most games aren't ready for 4K 30/60fps HDR then probably not. hard to say yet depends on what the games offer like modes for performance like high fps + 1080p or not

Isn't that pretty much a given at this point?

55" TCL 6-series. Best 4K tv I could find for under $1000, and I have no complaints. Really like it.

Which part of my post do you mean? PS5 being focused on 4K HDR?

Aye. People complain now if big games don't have that feature (for the upgraded consoles). I would guess that a lot more work is going to go towards optimisation for those features than for 1080p. Which means that 1080p users won't be getting their money's worth.

55" LG LCD 1080p. I have my PC hooked up to it, and I'm happy to stay at 1080p. Also, I got it just when smart tvs were coming out, and I like my tvs the way authoritarian governments like their people: dumb.

I have an old 46" Samsung in my living room, but that's only if we want to put something on for my kid.

Otherwise, all gaming/TV/movies is on my JVC DLA-RS540 projector. Love it.

You are probably right yeah. I hope 4K HDR TVs are easily affordable in 2020/2021.

Got the LG C8 in 55" in the bedroom and the LG E9 in 65 in the living room.
Next year I'm hoping to move the E9 in the bedroom and replace it with 77 10 series. After that, no more TVs from me for at least 5-6 years, unless some amazing tech comes out.

55" LG B8 OLED. Will never, ever go back to an LCD/LED display. I look forward to upgrading to a 65" OLED in a couple years though.

Living room is a 43" Hisense 4K HDR TV I got last year for about $400.
Just bought a cheapo 32" Element 720p tv for my workout room this weekend. Was $70 I believe.
