I have a 42" Insignia Roku TV I bought for a hundred dollars after my $800 Panasonic plasma screen randomly died without any warning or fanfare.
I don't regret the downgrade at all. Random expensive hardware failure fucking sucks.

For next gen I would wait a least until the consoles are out.
As fo rmy TV I have a Sony x800d and I like it quite a bit, but I know it has subpar HDR implementation.
I have a Toshiba Regza 40S10, bought in 2016. 1080p. It was perfect for our old apartment, a bit small for our current one but I wasn't going to buy a new TV after just two years.
We're planning on doing a move across the ocean in late 2021/early 2022, so I'll probably keep it until then and then try to sell it before buying a 4k TV and a new Xbox once we're settled in. I've held off on the X so far since I don't have 4k.
The only wrinkle in my plan is Halo: Infinite, don't think I can wait that long after release...

55 inch 4K TCL 6 series from 2017 or 18, I think 17 it was the first year anyone in th US heard of them.
My next tv will come when I get a home, I want a 65 to 75 inch oled but I want to wait for 8k and adaptive sync to be more prevalent so I'm stuck on old tech as 8k takes hold of the movie and games industries. Will be a while for sure unless my current one dies.

Sony x900f 75'' 4K TV from 2018 - in my entertainment room (media room) with my Gaming Desktop, Gaming laptop, PS4, PS3, and WiiU for use with it.
Sony Bravia 55'' 4k TV from 2016 - in our guest room (where my parents dwell in)
Sony Bravia 32'' HD TV from 2011 - in our resting den (game room turned to a general living room) - with my Wii, PS2 and a in general use Desktop is attached to it.
Planning to get a 85'' Sony TV for my media room in the future and transfer my 75'' to my master bedroom. Will likely happen 2021 or so when I plan to buy a upgrade.

A couple older Samsungs. Living room is a 55" that's about ten years old. Probably going to replace it soon. Bedroom TV is about a 5 year old 26".
TCL 6 series, 55 inch (2018)
This is the third TV that I've owned in the past 7 years or so (2 alive, 1 dead, see below). Technology is moving too fast and this stuff is getting cheaper! The first I got was in the $800's for the UT30 Panasonic TV. It had an image quality that rivals OLED and certain LCD panels to this day and passive 3D and it was awesome (Life of Pi was crazy on this). I ended wanting a 4K set because of my PS4 so I got a KS8000.
My KS8000 gltiched out and the repairman could not fix. I got my money back for it under Costco warranty, just before the 2 period when it was end. The TCL replaced that. This is a better TV than the KS8000 was for 3x cheaper and I've been very impressed by this set.
Next year it's very likely that I got the 2020 version of w/e LG's latest OLED using the Costco cash I have on hand and just pay few hundred for a 65 inch.

I have a 65inch 4K vizio as my main tv, the HDR is not great but it's bright enough to see a difference. And in my bedroom I have a 55inch vizio with active 3D....and I used the glasses once to play uncharted 3 on ps3 and hated the ghosting Effect. But the price I paid for it was worth it because it's got one of the best screens that came out in 09 and still has better blacks than most TVs on the market. At least until you get to Oled and such.

A 37 inch LG I bought in 2011.
Its a 37LK450 to be exact. Still works fine so I'll probably use it until it stops working.

I had a 13 in tube tv in mid 90s in my room. Then a 19 inch tube for the year 2000. My first HD was in 2007, a 32 inch 720p. 2009 to a 45 inch 1080p. My next upgrade will be 2020 to 65 inch 4k. My upgrade after that will be 85 inch and 8k. After that will be eye implants that project in my brain.
65" Samsung KS8000. Got it when it was brand fucking new for way too much money. But, it has served me well for the last few years. Will probably upgrade in another couple of years when HDMI 2.1 is all out there and established.
just picked up this baby for black friday, arrived today. got one for my nephew too.

I have a 55" Panasonic ST50 that I picked up in late 2012, and which has served me well—though I've rarely used it for gaming in recent years. I'll likely upgrade the whole living room setup (TV + receiver + Apple TV) to OLED/HDMI 2.1/4K sometime in the next year.

2019 65" Sony X950G.
Despite being LED, it is a gorgeous set with the incredible X1 Ultimate processor. Android runs super smooth and the upscaling is incredible for anything non-4K native(Switch).
Minor gripe is that Android apps had some issues at launch, especially audio related(seem mostly smoothed out but some still have erratic behavior). I also find the handshaking over HDMI, even using Bravia Sync for other Sony components, to be unreliable at times. Occasionally video switches, but audio doesn't. Then you have anything non-Sony not being recognized when powered, forcing manual input switching. My older Sony set I replaced was able to auto-swap anything with input power...but it appears Sony scaled that back to promote its own Bravia sync? Bleh.

I have an 32 inch LG LCD TV that I bought in 2009. It does 1080p just fine and works great still.

We have a 55" Vizio P Series 2018 model down here in the basement where all the video games and a lot of the movie watching is done. On the main and upper floors we have a 55" Sony and a 55" Samsung circa 2013-2014.
The Vizio is a great TV with 5 HDMI inputs which helps me out since I keep the PS4, XB1X, and PS3 on 3 ports and then I have two HDMI switch boxes for all the other consoles.
We'd love to upgrade to something like a 75" in the basement over the next year or so. Probably not OLED since I fall asleep with the tv on all the time.
