Fall season is in full swing, with some great peaks already having seen the light of day. So what new, returning, or even old/finished shows are you watching?

Below is a list of new and returning shows for the fall. I try to cover everything scripted (broadcast, cable, premium, streaming, foreign) as well as some of the more notable unscripted series. If you notice anything missing, just let me know!

Huge thanks to berzeli for saving this thread and re-compiling it! :porg:

A Lifetime Original Movie

Fire Chasers - Netflix

From the vast visual ferocity, to the earnest and emotional personal stories hidden behind the smoke, Fire Chasers takes viewers into the heart of California's devastating recent wildfires alongside the brave men and women of Cal Fire and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Their mission is to battle the flames that erupt during fire season, threatening wildlife, natural terrain, and tens of thousands of homeowners. Climate change, altered vegetation patterns, and an increase in fire-prone landscapes have multiplied those crises -- forcing firefighters across the state to confront epic disasters that cost lives, millions of dollars in damage, and a massive scarring of the Earth. Alongside the stories of the Cal Fire and LA County Fire teams are those of new recruits training to join their brothers in the blaze; the women who've chosen to train at "Fire Camp" while serving time at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in Corona; and California artists Jeff Frost and Andrea Dale, who document the apocalyptic-looking damage in photos and artifact retrieval. Fire Chasers is a gripping, dramatic look at the vigilance and valor that come with trying to stop nature's most unstoppable force.

Hassel - Viaplay

Based on the iconic novels by Olov Svedelid this re-imagining stars Ola Rapace as the hard boiled detective Roland Hassel as he starts his own investigation into the murder of his mentor.

The Orville - Fox

From Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) comes 'The Orville', a one-hour science fiction series set 400 years in the future that follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville, a mid-level exploratory vessel. Its crew, both human and alien, faces the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of regular people in a workplace... even though some of those people are from other planets, and the workplace is a faster-than-light spaceship.

The Deuce - HBO

Created by George Pelecanos and David Simon (The Wire), this drama series follows the story of the legalization and subsequent rise of the porn industry in New York's Times Square from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s, exploring the rough-and-tumble world at the pioneering moments of what would become the billion-dollar American sex industry.

Newton's Law - AcornTV

'Newton's Law' centers on the life of Josephine Newton, a suburban solicitor who joins the high-flying Knox Chambers and resumes her former life as barrister after a disgruntled client torches her office.

Giving up her private practice is one thing, but when the change is accompanied by a collapsing marriage, the fading charm of motherhood, and an overly-developed sense of helping others, Newton's old life as a barrister looks better and better. But is it?

Riviera - SundanceNow

Julia Stiles plays Georgina, a Midwestern US girl turned smart, resourceful wife of the billionaire Constantine Clios. After just a year of marriage, Georgina's immaculate new life is blown apart when her art collector husband Constantine is killed in an explosion aboard the yacht of a Russian oligarch and arms dealer. Believing there to be more to the tragedy, she sets out to uncover what happened. Dark truths about Constantine's dealings emerge and, as she begins to realise who she was really married to, Georgina enters a spiral of moral descent as she becomes immersed in a world of lies, double-dealing and criminality.

American Vandal - Netflix

American Vandal is a half-hour true-crime satire that explores the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left twenty-seven faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Over the course of the eight-episode season, an aspiring sophomore documentarian investigates the controversial and potentially unjust expulsion of troubled senior (and known dick-drawer) Dylan Maxwell. Not unlike its now iconic true-crime predecessors, the addictive American Vandal will leave one question on everyone's minds until the very end: Who drew the dicks?

Drink, Slay, Love - Lifetime

dvrwgkf.jpg

Pearl is a typical sixteen-year-old vampire. Fond of blood, allergic to the sun, and generally pretty evil. But after a mysterious attack leaves her able to survive in the daylight, everything changes. Pearl's powerful family soon finds a way to take advantage of her new ability: they send Pearl to high school, to gather fresh young blood for an upcoming feast in honor of the Vampire King. The only problem is that Pearl is starting to grow a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends -- especially the cute guy who makes her fangs ache -- to be slaughtered? Then again, she's definitely dead if she lets her family down. What's a sun-loving vamp to do?

Sent - HBO Asia

'Sent' chronicles the life of an unremarkable and meek financial compliance officer, Jay Bunani, who has a habit of writing searing, and eye-wateringly honest emails to anyone who aggravates him. After he inadvertently sends out drafts of these emails that no one was ever supposed to see, his world turns upside down. He must now deal with the backlash of his actions after his carelessness cost him his job, friends, fiancée, and everyone close to him.

As Miranda settles into island life, she finds herself torn between TJ, heir to one of the oldest Selkie families, and mysterious bad boy Leo who is part of the working class "townies." When Miranda learns about the Seawalkers, who, according to local legend, are half human and half sea creature, she begins to believe that they could be real. As she uncovers more about her family's past, Miranda makes a startling discovery about her own connections to the Seawalkers.

The Vietnam War - PBS

Ken Burns and Lynn Novick direct a 10-part, 18-hour documentary series that tells the epic story of the Vietnam War as it has never before been told on film. Features testimony from nearly 80 witnesses, including many Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both sides.

The State - Nat Geo

A powerful new miniseries from renowned writer/director Peter Kosminsky, 'The State' follows the experiences of four British men and women who leave their lives behind to join ISIS in Syria. In an unflinching depiction of the realities of life under ISIS, The State provides a deeply authentic drama through which we are able to explore and confront one of the most important issues of our time.

Get Krackin - ABC Australia/Seeso

Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney were barely qualified to host "The Katering Show" on YouTube so nothing is going to stop them from dumping their mix of social awkwardness and unprofessionalism onto the bright chirpy world of Morning TV.

Bad Blood - City

The story centres on a family of priests that traces its roots back more than 250 years: Johannes, Elisabeth, and their sons, August and Christian. Johannes is God-like to his sons – he gives, loves, and punishes. His favouritism for August and his disappointment with Christian forces both into making desperate choices in order to either gain his love or break free from him. Their path will lead us into war and encounters between different religions, seen through the intimate lens of a family drama.

Star Trek: Discovery - CBS/CBS All Access

'Star Trek: Discovery' will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Alias Grace - CBC/Netflix

The story of 'Alias Grace' follows Grace Marks, a poor, young Irish immigrant and domestic servant in Upper Canada who, along with stable hand James McDermott, was convicted of the brutal murders of their employer, Thomas Kinnear, and his housekeeper, Nancy Montgomery, in 1843. James was hanged while Grace was sentenced to life imprisonment. Grace became one of the most enigmatic and notorious women of 1840s Canada for her supposed role in the sensational double murder, and was eventually exonerated after 30 years in jail. Her conviction was controversial, and sparked much debate about whether Grace was actually involved in the murder, or merely an unwitting accessory.

Based on the novel by Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid's Tale)

Young Sheldon - CBS

For 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, it isn't easy growing up in East Texas. Being a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science isn't always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him. Jim Parsons narrates as Adult Sheldon. The End of the F***ing World - Netflix/E4

The story follows James and Alyssa, two teenagers living a seemingly typical teen experience as they face the fear of coming adulthood. But quickly, this somewhat familiar teenage experience takes a more nihilistic turn as James' character exhibits a rapidly forming sociopathy that threatens both of their futures. My watches this fall are kind of random. At the moment, I'm working through:
  • The Good Place (top-tier)
  • DuckTales
  • The Flash (for now)
  • Legends of Tomorrow
  • Riverdale
  • Mr. Robot (if I don't forget it's on)
  • Dirk Gently (again, for now)
  • The Gifted
I don't know when The Magicians comes back on, but that'll probably be my next watch after Stranger Things is done. Don't really have the energy to get invested in a new show at the moment.

Yay. Thread is back!
I even saved my old post:
Great work as always on the thread Ratsky! <3

Will watch:

Narcos - Netflix
The two first seasons have been very solid, if unspectacular, entertainment.
BoJack Horseman - Netflix
I think this might be the best Netflix show right now.
The Deuce - HBO
David Simon can do no wrong (except supporting government surveillance/spying on its own citizens).
Top of the Lake: China Girl - SundanceTV
Loved the first series.
Star Trek: Discovery - CBS
pls be good
Mindhunter - Netflix
Hope it doesn't go the way of House of Cards.
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency - BBC America
I enjoyed the first season more than I thought I would.
Godless - Netflix
pls be good
Black Mirror - Netflix
Wait, this might actually be the best show on Netflix
Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams - Channel 4/Amazon
It looks so damn good, and it has some of the best talent around behind it.
The Alienist - TNT
pls be good, if nothing else it's a contender for the prettiest show on TV this year
The OA - Netflix
The first season was divisive, but I loved it. It's unapologetically weird, and that's a good thing.
The Terror - AMC
I love the setting, I love the talent behind and in front of the screen, pls be good
Tin Star - Amazon/Sky Atlantic
pls be good

Might watch:

Hassel - Viaplay
If the reviews are good. I really loved the last film with the original actor, so this feels superflous.
Engrenages - Canal+
Have some catching up to do first.
Ride Upon the Storm - DR1
If the reviews are good.
Liar - SundanceTV
If the reviews are good.
Vår tid är nu - SVT1
I will watch the first episode if not for watching what happens when SVT spends a fuckton of money.
Suburra - Netflix
If it translates as well to TV as Gomorrah thankfully did.
Babylon Berlin - Sky
If the reviews are good.
Cormoran Strike - BBC/HBO
Will watch when it makes it over here.
Stranger Things - Netflix
It's not that good y'all.
Gomorrah - Sky
Well it's more of a "have to watch the second season first thing".

Will watch as background fodder whilst doing dishes when they make it upon these shores of mine because despite it not being a good show I really love spy fiction and Richard Armitage:

Berlin Station - Epix

I'm not getting a boyfriend this year, am I?

I'll go back soon and go through how things panned out

Awesome thread, again. I'm watching The Orville and it keeps growing on me. I'm enjoying The Gifted, but I think I'm going to end up dropping Ghosted. I love the leads but the third episode is just sitting there. I picked up The Good Place and Blackish after binging them over the summer and I'm loving them so far. Everything else I'll probably just watch when their seasons are over.

I'm currently watching these (though not necessarily caught up on them all this season so far):

The Good Place
Jane the Virgin
Me, Myself & I
This is Us
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Modern Family
Mr. Robot
You're the Worst
Gotham
Liar
The Walking Dead

Also looking forward to:

Stranger Things
Life in Pieces
Search Party
SMILF

I watched the premiere of SMILF. I really liked it. Felt honest and real, sometimes uncomfortable (like real life so often is) and was rather funny. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Also catching up on Season 1 of Riverdale.

I want to thank you berzeli for this thread, but I do so every time you put these lists together and I feel like it is not enough, but that's unfortunately all I can give back for your hard work. And a thanks to Cornballer, and TheOddOne for the wonderful OT's I look forward to every single time one of my anticipated shows are about to start. In fact, our whole community should claps each other on the back and say "well done," and what we got here makes watching tv shows and movies much more than that. Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately I can't remember the list I had made from that other forum, but luckily I also have my local excel sheet where I got my anticipated shows written down so I'm not completely lost. Will probably come in here to share impressions when I've been through seasons I haven't yet caught up with.

For this season alone though, Riverdale and Gotham will definitely be the shows I'll anticipate the most every week. And then new stuff like Runaways and Agents of Shield is something I look forward to as well.

Will watch and cherish Agents of Shield, Punisher, Better Call Saul, and Westworld when they inevitably return. Might also check out Tracy Morgan's new show. I know nothing about it other than he's in it, but I love watching the guy so I'll probably try it at least.

You magnificent sod Ratsky, appreciate the work that goes into these every time. As usual, I'm watching entirely too much, although I've already started trimming the fat this season with Designated Survivor the latest casualty. I just don't have the patience for "of the week" type shows these days. Currently finishing American Vandal before Stranger Things drops in the morning.

I thought that this week's episode of Modern Family was one of the best episodes they've done in years. It was actually funny!

I also thought You're the Worst was fun, even though the show is still struggling with tone.
The Gretchen/Jimmy stuff in particular gave me whiplash, especially considering how they were acting towards each other earlier in the season. Their current dynamic hasn't been earned at all.

Gotta be honest... That's one of the most unappealing Fall line ups I've ever seen. I would be watching Ash vs Evil Dead now, but they've delayed that for whatever stupid reason... It's fucking Halloween. And, the next season of the Eric Andre show isn't airing either so I'm left with nothing new to watch.

Anyway finished the Leftovers last week and it was GODLY (no pun intended). I so regret not watching it when it was airing. Feels like I missed something special. Oh well, I loved watching it over the past few weeks. And, I started The Wire a few hours ago... My mind was melting because of so many character introductions and police lingo that I couldn't follow.

Hell yeah, Ratsky in this bitch!

This fall feels kinda sparse.

Broad City, AHS, with Gotham as background noise as far as traditional broadcast stuff.

Want to get around to watch Mindhunter, The Deuce, Curb Your Enthusiasm, It's Always Sunny, Workaholics, Game of Thrones, and Rick and Morty, as far as streaming and catching up on backseasons but I don't know how much of that I'll end up getting to before the year is done.

I'll probably check out the Punisher and Runaways but I'm real leery of Marvel shows after their recent Netflix run, though I know the latter is Hulu and looks way more promising.

Guys could we get a Riverdale Season 2 thread up? Loved that particular thread in our old community. I'd start it myself but no thread creating capability just yet.

Anyone feel like stepping up? It'd be awesome to have one.

EDIT: Looks like I can't read! There is a thread. Looks like the search function failed me. Never mind everyone.
