Similar to the Hillary thread but either difference being Bernie won the Dem nominee and eventually the presidency. What would the US and the world be like?

Same as Clinton. But slightly a bit better since he is a bit more well liked... aka a lame duck

I think this is both harder to predict than the Hillary timeline while also having a greater chance that people will come in here with some sort of bias considering that Bernie is still a likely candidate for 2020.

well first off the same questions would have to be specified for the hypothetical:

if he wins, what did the coattails look like? cause if republicans kept congress, the answer still woulda been "obstruction."

Looking forward to the flaming hot Bernie Sanders takes in this thread. The man is one of the only progressives that has any kind of power in the States yet he's still dismissed by democrats who are desperately trying to hold on the centrism.

The Bernie Sanders timeline would show a man actually trying to make a progressive America. And I'd take that over the current white supremacist President and over any lame ass democrat that would try to appeal to "both sides".

It would be exactly like star trek but the leaders of the federation would be Bernie and Elon Musk

The US(SR) would have become a communist empire, and right now wage WW3 with the sad remainder of the capitalist free world.

He has the same amount of power as any other Senator. And he would have had the same amount of legislative power as Clinton, which is to say, none.

And as for your final sentence... https://www.resetera.com/threads/be...lack-candidates-not-necessarily-racist.79759/

Literally the same as with Clinton except for less investigations (but functionally the same).

Then the first time Sanders said something Trump-tier like "It's understandable to not vote for black candidates" that would be career ending because only one PotUS is made of teflon.

Much like my thoughts on the Hillary thread, what it would look like is:

- We wouldn't have an aspiring fascist dictator in the WH.
- Does anything other than the above really matter that much?

Oh come on man! He's not racist, he's just a racist apologist. Always people trying to keep the man who wasn't even close to winning a nomination down. Don't you remember the bird? Birds are better

The financial markets would be doing slightly worse, the economy would be slightly healthier and black people would be working in gulags.

similar to the clinton timeline but even more gridlock-ier and worse 2018 midterms. probably worse on trade as well.

It's depressing to see a site that I thought was full of progressive allies be full of people who essentially support right wing views. The democratic party needs to be fixed to actually represent left-wing views and policies. Just being better than republicans isn't a winning platform.

Support people like Bernie Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez because they offer views that aren't entreched in conservatism. These progressives are important. Minimizing them serves only to further the current centrism in the DNC.

Bernie wins the election against Trump, and then everything looks pretty identical to the Hillary timeline. Deadlock, massive GOP Congressional gains in 2018.

Exactly the same as the Hillary timeline just with different actors

GOP with huge house majority. 60 senators heading into 2020

Maybe the only difference from Hillary would be more democrats would be actively running away from Socialism instead of somewhat loosely embracing some of Berns ideas

Sanders ain't perfect. Tariffs remain really stupid, and punting on gun control as an issue of importance just slides by without any calling him on it. The definition of "left" has basically been warped such that fring trade policies, bad stances on gun control, and massive racial blind spots suddenly don't matter anymore.

We'd have just had a red wave mid-term I think.
This is one thing that would happen but we would still be unaware of how extreme the bigotry is in this country.

Two good Supreme Court justices

Not happening. We already saw what happened with Obama and the Republicans already announced they would do the same same to the winning Democrat. We would go for 4 years without a Supreme Court Judge filled unless Sanders or Hillary forced the issue in a way Obama didn't.
