What's the anime industry's fascination with highschool and explicit underage obsession?

The character I see on screen looks like a cartoon that only resembles a human due to having just barely enough features for my brain to interpret it as a face.

For example, here is 15 year old high school student.
I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to tell me. Elaborate more please.

And both are equally fake. Anime is just moving drawings.

No different from violent video games.
What a startling revelation. But unless you're going to try and insult every artist and animator by saying no one has ever been able to imply age, demeanor, emotion, or even sexuality through "moving drawings", this is meaningless. If you were to post "loli" porn here, you would get banned. Because it's not "just a drawing". Images carry weight, images have meaning, and the blatant sexualization of characters who are clearly minors is fucking gross whether in a drawing or not.

Violence and sexualisation are two very different things. It's not even in this topic.
The point I'm making is both are completely in the realm of fiction in a non real life medium.

Anime almost never tries to emulate real life.

Anime and games have moved me to tears.

Still doesn't make it real.

Take a moment and think why any form of child porngrophy is illegal. Are you going to tell in court they're just moving pictures?

A fictional character written by an adult, voiced by an adult, drawn by an adult, I'm a setting meant to evoke high school that doesn't actually resemble a high school populated by stylized drawings that don't quite resemble actual human beings are dozens of layers deep into an make-believe abstraction at that point.

If you want to be pedantic about arbitrary age, that's entirely within your right to do so, and I'm not adovocating explicit sexualization. But it's all make believe.

How old is this character? Does it look 15?

I'm of the opinion 2D interpretation should not be illegal yes. Gross sure, but not illegal.

If I drew 2 stick figures humping but said "oh this one figure is 12" is it suddenly child pornography?

Why isn't there more University based themes? Is it such a terrible thing there?

I said teens, so either sex, sure more so girls. I'm pretty sure sexualisation of underage looking characters don't fly in most places. That's my issue.

It's not for us. Again its for the kids. You accept that and its all way more clear. IMO 99% of its not worth a watch unless you are in that demo. I've found like one show I like. The cooking one, and even THEN, the fucking characters are in a damn cooking "school". Its awful.

You can't be serious. A 2D realistic figure or close to how humans look drawings are not comparable to stick figures

Again, That 70's Show is a cast full of legal adults who most definitely don't look 16, 17, or however old they're playing. A sexualized image of Donna is not going to evoke the same reaction as some anime schoolgirl positioned to focus on her way-too-high skirt.

If Scarlet Johannson said she was playing a 13 year old in her next movie, nobody would see her as anything other than an adult woman. They're not selling body pillows of anime voice actors.
Uhm, Mila Kunis was 14(!!!). I know, it's off-topic, but this info is very conflicting for any 18+ yo who had a crush on her back then.
"Mila Kunis was only fourteen when she auditioned for the show. When producers asked her age, she misled them by saying, "Well, I'll be eighteen on my birthday." and neglected to say what year."

Yep. That's where adult life starts and you stop having much choice in anything. Society compels you to now interact with your new peers to prepare you for 2 hours of drinking after a 12 hour work day with your coworkers and bosses, and practically abandon any former friends or new friends via choice. You also basically choose your career path in high school so you don't even get to choose your classes or any extracurriculars.

So, in essence, a college setting would have about the same appeal as a setting with workers.

Technically anime/cartoon underaged porn is odd in the sense that its legality isn't clear cut, hell if it's clear cut shouldn't we see a good chunk of artists in jail, hell there's a person on Cartoon Network who drew child porn when they were younger but doesn't get much flack for it.
But loli porn is bad, not going to say it's good.

No because sexual content violates the rules here.

Then here, I'll make this real easy for you.

If someone were posting suggestive-to-explicit images of the following characters, and claimed both were supposed to be 16, which do you think would be more immediately distressing?

A)

or B)

Because no matter what someone writer or whoever says, images carry weight. It's why the "1000 year old dragon" shit is just so deserving of scorn and mockery. Because that shit is meaningless when we look at a character and are immediately left with the suggestion that we're looking at explicit sexual images of a minor vs. an adult.

EDIT: Glad to see they were banned.

The sexualisation of minors is not tolerated here, and discussions like this one invariably end poorly and please no one. We do not believe this thread will be different, and so it has been locked.
